For days and days Sirius tried to get something out of James about who he was staring at in the Gryffindor common room, after all these were the early days at Hogwarts and there were a lot of girls they hadn't seen yet or even spoken to, the only thing James Sirius, Remus and Peter were interested in was pranking. Pranking teachers, fellow students, Visitors to the school and even messing with the pets students brought in.
Sirius watched James closely for the next few days and noticed him looking at a few girls, Marlene Mckinnon the girl from their Herbology, Lily Evans the girl from their potions and Defence against the dark arts and Alice King, also from their Defence against the dark arts and their potions but he couldn't like Alice surely it was rumoured she was dating Frank Longbottom and not Marlene because he Sirius James's best friend had already told him that he liked her. Sirius kept thinking to himself, he must like one of these girls otherwise why would he become speechless and stand there and stare, unless there was something previous out of school before the start of their first year. Then it clicked he hadn't thought much about Lily, James must like Lily Evans.
Sirius was sitting with Remus and Peter at the Gryffindor table in the great hall eating dinner and waiting for James.
As soon as the three friends saw James running down the hall to greet them Sirius Stood up, faced his other friend and said "I know, why on earth didn't you just tell us?".
James looked rather confused at this comment from Sirius. "What on earth are you on about?" He replied.
"I know who you were staring at in the common room that day and I bet I could tell you why as well!"
James now looked slightly worried. "What, go on then what? Tell me since its the only question you have been interested in asking me over the last few days"
Sirius walked closer and leaned in between his 3 friends, "You fancy Lily Evans!"
