Chapter 3

Steve Rogers

"Are you two done with the love fest yet?" Steve asks.

Natasha glares at him and grabs Clint's hand. She walks past Steve with her head held high. Clint smiles apologetically at Steve and allows himself to be dragged.

"Hey wait." Steve calls out.

They turn around and stare at him.

"We just killed a Chitauri assassin. We wanted your guy's opinion on it." He says.

Natasha raises her eyebrows and Clint just stares.

Steve brushes past them and walks down the stairs silently.

"This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen! I mean since when does a Chitauri assassin get back into our world? I thought the portal was closed. After all I was the one who closed it off." Tony rambles on as he paces around the body of the Chitauri.

"Tony! Just shut up! You are so narcissist, arrogant, and self obsessed. Some days I just don't understand how I put up with you! Then we see your nice, semi-quiet, and in love with Pepper side, and we all can't help but be friends with the great Tony Stark." Steve blurts out accidentally.

"You think I'm narcissist, arrogant, and self obsessed? Have you looked in the mirror and seen yourself lately, Steve Rogers. You're not exactly Mr. Perfect either." Tony says lowly.

"Tony, I wasn't trying to offend you or anything. You know that. That all was an accident. I didn't mean to say that. Well actually I was thinking it but that's beside the point." Steve mutters.

"I really don't like being compared to Howard. I hate being compared to Howard. Some advice for you, Steve, would be to watch your choice of words around me. We all know I get in moods when people compare me to Howard. I suggest you change your way of speaking before I smack your jaw."

"Back off, Ironman."

"Make me."

"Put on the suit."

"Nah. I'm good."

"Put on the suit. What exactly are you without it again?"

"Back off, Rogers." Tony growls.

"Put. On. The. Damn. Suit."

"Why don't you put on your spangled outfit and frolic around some park? I'm sure the people would just love to see the great and mighty Captain America."

"Maybe I will."

"Good for you, Captain. Good for you."

Steve rolls his eyes at Tony and stomps off frustrated.

"Stupid Tony Stark. Always has to act like he's the best. He's more like Howard than he'll ever know." Steve muttered to himself as he headed downstairs to his motorcycle.

Starting up the engine Steve backed out of the "driveway." He cruised through town for awhile until he came upon a mysterious alley. It wasn't your typical alley. It had Chitauri items thrown all over and destroyed pieces of the portal. A couple Chitauri dummies were set up at random.

Frowning he stopped the motorcycle and walked over to the alley. Stepping inside he fell over with pain.

Peggy. Her face appeared in front of him. Her voice blared in his head.

"Don't be late for our date."

All his battles were fought for Peggy. She didn't know it then but he fought for her because she was his life. He loved her with his whole heart.

Squirming on the ground Steve rolled over to see the bright, blue sky. Peggy's face wouldn't leave him alone.

He managed to drag himself out of the alley to where he collapsed on the sidewalk. Breathing heavily his pain slowly started to fade away.

"Hello? Sir? Are you alright?" A female voice says.

Steve groans and looks up into the face of his Peggy.

A big thank you to Ktsteele for the idea of Tony and Steve's fight. :) I hope you all liked this chapter! Please review. It only takes a second of your day and makes my whole day!:)
