Chapter 6

Thor

Thor watches silently as Jane and Bruce stare at each other shocked. Well Bruce is more shocked than Jane. Jane just calmly blinks at him.

"How is your mother?" Bruce asks softly.

"She's fine... My dad and her live in France now." Jane says quietly.

"You're the spitting image of your mom." Bruce whispers.

Thor looks at Jane. Carmel, chestnut hair with brown eyes. Slim and tall. So that's what her mom looks like.

"I've never met your parents." Thor says.

"He will never see my mom or dad." Jane says coolly and jerks her head at Bruce.

"What about me?" He asks.

"Maybe." She says curtly.

Tony opens his mouth to say something but ends up coughing because Natasha punched him before he could say anything he'd regret.

Bruce stares a little longer at Jane. Everyone watches as his face muscles tighten and we can tell he's trying to hold his temper for the sake of his former lover's daughter.

"Your mother left me. I loved her." Bruce whispers.

"My dad stole her heart." Jane shrugs as if she doesn't have a care in the world but Thor can tell Bruce is upsetting her.

"Come on Jane. Let's go." Thor says and stand up. He strides towards the elevator and press the button for the rooftop. Jane follows him quietly and the elevator closes after her.

Thor places his hand on Jane's arm.

"Are you okay?" He asks gruffly.

"I'm fine." Jane says shortly.

"No you're not." Thor's forehead is full of worry wrinkles.

"I really am. It's just that I didn't think he loved my mom. She did leave him after all."

"Love is a miracle worker, Jane. It's what keeps people going in hard times but breaks them down in others." Thor whispers as he gathers her in a hug.

They stand in the elevator with Jane's head resting on Thor's chest for several moments until the elevator dings to a stop.

A/N: Sorry this chapter wasn't the best but I wanted to get it out there because I haven't updated in a while! We all know how busy the school year gets so sorry about that!
