Chapter 10

(AN/ SORRY I HAVEN'T UPDATED! I thought nobody liked this story XD. I've just been writing it in my head)

Time: Evening

Setting: RiverClan Camp

Willowshine's POV

I can't help but feel anxious from the experience with the patrol earlier today, and Jayfeather. I felt drawn to him, like a magnet. Finally something clicked in my head and I felt embarrassment heat up in my ears. I guess I had known it all along, just denying that I had feelings for him. I longed to get away from my clan, even if just for a minute. My legs were still fatigued from my walk earlier, but I've found myself needing air a lot lately.

A short stroll later I find myself at the lake. A cool breeze ruffles my fur and the smell of fish hits my nose. I wade in a short way and begin swimming; staying near the shore, but deep enough to swim. The sun begins sinking below the horizon, sending rose colored rays of light into the sky. Crimson reflects off the tress, and the water turns a brilliant orange.

I hear pebbles shift near shore "who's there!" Breaks the silence. I pull my head above water, peering at the dark silhouette on the beach.

"What are you doing here?" it's Jayfeather's voice, he sounds annoyed.

"I can be here! I'm in the water for Starclan's sake!" I retort.

"Why, are here though?" Jayfeather takes a step forward; I can now make him out against the shadows.

"What are YOU doing here?" I shot back.

"Retrieving feverfew for Dapplekit. Now stop dodging my question!" Jayfeather glares at me.

"It's none of your business" My forepaws now on the shore. I can make out Jayfeathers raised hackles, and heavy, frustrated, breathing.

"Chill out and grab your feverfew" I say. I can practically see the smoke come out of his ears.

Time: Nightfall

Setting: Lakeshore

Jayfeather's POV

I grit my teeth as I locate the feverfew. Willowshine spews insults as I pluck the herb. Finally I drop the herbs and whip around; I can smell fish on Willowshine's breathe. "Don't you have somewhere to be?" I shout.

"Come on Jayfeather, I was just playing." Willowshine says quietly. Guilt rips through me and I look down, ashamed that I didn't control my temper.

"It's okay Jayfeather" she whispers, but it doesn't make me feel any better.

"I shouldn't have snapped at you…" I trail off.

"I was being a kit, it's totally okay!" she leans in and a cool drop of water hits my shoulder blade.

Suddenly I'm caught off guard as her cheek presses into mine " Tomorrow same time, same place" she whispers, then pulls away taking off down the beach.

I stand there frozen my mouth open, and warmness spreads from my soggy cheek.
