Chapter 11

(AN: This chapter dedicated to moonblaze1108 :D)

Time: Sunhigh

Setting: Thunderclan camp

Jayfeather's POV

I shift nervously in my nest. I had talked down the guilt before; I hadn't agreed to meet Willowshine then. Sure I could argue that she had told me to meet her there, but there wasn't a doubt in my mind I would be at the lakeshore when the sun set. The one thing set in my mind was that Lionblaze couldn't find out. He would follow me around all day if he did and I wouldn't get me chance. My chance for what? I'm a medicine cat, I can't do this.

I let out a sigh of defeat, it didn't matter if I did it consciously, I would end up wandering there anyway, drawn to Willowshine like a swallow is to flight.

I hate love, there is that dreaded feeling you get when your away from them; a sinking feeling in your gut. Then there's the warm excitement that makes you remember everything about them, the way her touch feels, the sound her purr. The whole thing gives me a headache. It's an addiction, you know it's bad, but you can't stay away.

I shake my head. I need to sort the pile of herbs I collected this morning. I begin pulling herbs left and right, forming piles. I try keeping busy, but I'm unable to force Willowshine from my mind.

Time: Just before sun down

Setting: RiverClan camp

Willowshine's POV

I slink from camp starting slowly then bursting into a full out run as soon as I'm out of sight. A nervous excitement fills my belly. What if I came on to strong, he didn't show up. I slow my pace slightly into an even trot. I breathe in, as I hit the lakeshore, but I still have to get to the Thunderclan border. I pray to Starclan that a patrol doesn't spot me, but somehow I feel they aren't still on my side.

I arrive at destination slightly before schedule. Jayfeather hasn't' arrived yet and my stomach clenches. I sink onto the pebbles flattening my ears. I just hope Jayfeather arrives before an angry patrol.

I wake up to the sound of shuffling pebbles, it's just after Moonhigh and I hold my breath. "Willowshine?" I heave a sigh of relief as Jayfeather's voice fills my ears.

"I'm so sorry! I had to double back my brother is following me." Jayfeather whispers.

I hiss cuffing him over the ears, "what were you thinking?!" I whisper shout.

Before he can reply I hear a branch break, and I dive into the water. By the light of the moon and through the water, I can make out Jayfeather's form and another tom, a golden one. I hold my breath, careful not to make any sudden movements.

Time drags on my lungs are bursting. I close my eyes, I can't hold in much longer.
