To all of you who thought this was a new chapter - I apologize

I just have something that I feel like I should address

Recently, I got an anonymous review that I personally found to be kinda rude.

wow lets see the villian is the only verified dark skinned character and everyone else is... not. also genderqueer doesnt mean confused or uncomfortable u frick, and if jane never said her gender then how'd he know? p messed up gender crap and racial stereotypes here. ughhhhh,

okay, just to clear things up, this is definitely not the case.

Gamzee is not the only dark skinned character in here.

From what I remember, I think I mentioned that Jane is dark-skinned too

"She looks so fucking serene in her sleep, her large eyes closed behind her glasses, her light brown tanned skin glowing in the light, her mouth open in a tiny "O" shape, her little button nose twitching like some type of rabbit. It was fucking adorable."

Basically, I was aiming at making her some type of part-american part-Indian. A light brown skin tone.

The other characters also have varied racial backgrounds:

Karkat: Half-Hispanic half-Indian

Gamzee: mostly African American, with a bit of European prevalent somewhere recent along his lineage (Kurloz is a lot paler than he is; european genes)

Terezi: Chinese Canadian

Nepeta: part Indian part Korean

Kanaya: Italian

Aradia: Japanese

Sollux: Taiwanese

Equius: Lebanese (might change this)

Eridan: French

Feferi: Portuguese

Tavros: Hispanic

As for the genderqueer thing, I found the place that might suggest that I messed it up.

"Perhaps she was genderfluid, and wasn't quite comfortable with her own gender. Perhaps she didn't trust you enough. Perhaps that was her real name, and you're being paranoid"

To put it simply, I actually asked a genderfluid person to describe what it feels like, and this is what they said. That they were genderfluid because on most days, they simply weren't comfortable with their own gender and wanted to seem like the other.

And as for the gender thing, basically, Dirk was under the impression that the so called Jake he chatted with online was male, and when he saw Jane, she obviously looked female (female parts), so he automatically assumed that she was female.

As for the POC thing

I understand how at first glance, it might have seemed like Gamzee was the sole character who was a person of color, but honestly, I did leave subtle hints here and there that basically suggested that they all have mixed racial backgrounds. It'll become more prevalent as we go on, but honestly, if I didn't want to add race somewhere to establish a base foundation to their appearance (I always like it in fanfictions when they mention race), I would probably prefer to leave it to your imaginations.

In other words, the racial backgrounds listed above don't necessarily have to apply. They can be any race that you want them to be.

So basically anonymous user, while you were trying to prove your point that I was being racist and misinterpreting sexual orientation, you missed some key parts of my story that basically override your argument.

I am under the impression that you think I'm stating that persons of color are the people who commit crime and are generally 'bad guys'

This isn't true. Hell, I'm a person of color myself (I'm Indian)

You think that I misinterpreted genderfluidity

I basically asked a genderfluid person in the flesh about how they felt, so I'm pretty damn sure I got it right.

And dear, you're on anon which leads me to believe that you knew what you commented was harsh and offensive, and that it may have been false. If you really wanted to prove your point, you would have come off anon so that I can message you back and discuss what you believe that I got wrong.

Please make sure that what you're saying is 100% true before you call someone a racist frick. I'm going to assume that you're smart enough to understand that fanfiction writers dont often intend for things to sound the way they do, and often, when someone finds something offensive, its the readers misinterpretation.

OOhh, here's some advice. Instead of being a drama queen about my story and accusing me of saying shit in it, why don't you just stop yourself from reading it at all? It's a simple piece of advice really, if you don't like it, don't fucking read it. Nobody is forcing you to read this.

I will write my story how I damn well please and I don't give a flying fuck whether or not you appreciate what I do or not.

Please refrain from making any more rude comments about my story.
