*Ring, ring*
"Hey Niko… I was thinking, maybe we could hang out today. How about we go bowling?"
"Damn it Roman, I'm busy. I don't have time to go bowling."

Roman sat on his mattress in silence for several minutes, phone still held to his ear. Suddenly it fell to the floor, and he buried his face in his hands. The tears he'd been holding back since Mallorie left him finally found their way out, streaming down his face and leaving dark stains on the wooden floor. He sobbed miserably, feeling absolutely alone. Today was his birthday. He was going to take Mallorie to dinner, and maybe see a movie, and then propose to her. He had already bought the ring; a beautiful, 24 karat diamond ring. But she had left him a week before, saying she could no longer tolerate being with such a childish slob of a man. The ring now sat at the bottom of a lake.
Roman sobbed, feeling ridiculous but not caring at all. By now he was soaked in his own tears, and his eyes were bloodshot. He sniffled. Hell, even Niko doesn't care enough to hang out with me on my birthday. This thought just made him cry harder. The love of my life hates me, my cousin hates me, and people are always trying to kill me. I can't live like this anymore. Roman cried for several more minutes, before finally wiping away his tears. He reached under his pillow, grabbing something. He sat there for a long time staring at it, before putting it in his mouth. He whimpered once, then pulled the trigger. There was a loud pop, and a spray of blood, and then Roman Bellic was dead.
About ten minutes later, Roman's phone rang. It went to voicemail, and Niko's voice filled the apartment.
"Look Roman, I am sorry for being such a dick lately…things have been hard since I got here. Let's go out...maybe we can go to one of those strip clubs you enjoy so much. Call me when you get this…happy birthday cousin…"
