Author's Notes: Sorry… but I am rather annoyed myself, but I'm using a touch screen phone so it's slower than usual

Chapter 17: Another Cruel Twist to An Already Cruel Fate

Just after confirming with the man her father wanted to meet with, the red head devil child pocketed her cell phone and then stared at the people she was with. These two were her senpais in the investigation business. The first one was a guy with short brown hair, sharp eyes and square rimmed glasses. He had a lanky build, he was deceivingly thin that one may think with his looks that he was the average geek with glasses. He wore a simple white polo shirt and plain jeans. It did no help that he acted like an eccentric maniac that does nothing but plays galges all day long. But the truth is that he is more than meets the eye. He was the third ooo's, the one that made sure that the insane Dr. Maki's backup plan did not succeed. He is one of the most powerful devil summoners that one could find. The person that is one of the many people contracted by one of her father's many subordinates to capture loose souls that escaped the netherworld. And finally the most reliable information specialists and as she said her sempai in said specialty. He is Katsuragi, Keima, Hell's hidden champion and currently Kamen Rider Saga. He is there to inform her of as je describe it as "One more disturbing fact to an already screwed up situation." The other is a little bit older than Keima. He is garbed almost all black, with most of his features concealed by them. After all it's hard to discern one's features when it's concealed with a black cape and large banchou cap. Heck he looked like a police officer from pre-modern Japan except he wears a cape. One thing for sure is that he hard bright blue hair and is pretty silent for the most part. His name was Aristo, Minato but now as known similarly to his ancestors of old: Raidou Kuzunoha the famed 'black cape'. He is there to confirm the former's gathered intelligence. And admittedly since the Kaijin's attack on Mami and the difficult battle at the mall wherein their time traveler friend admitted was beyond the foe's abilities, any info is desperately needed.

"So may we begin?" Keima-sempai asked sipping his cup of decaf. They were currently in a coffee shop in Akihabara, something that was required so that Keima can continue his ruse. Though as of current he admitted that this was harder than before ever since he picked up a 'troublesome imouto' something she (Mirai) could only apologize in behalf of her father and his associates. To everyone's defense no one expected the ditzy girl to pass and graduate... And well, her father decided to send the poor girl to a trustworthy individual much to Keima's chagrin. "You owe me more." he had said. And considering what is being asked of him, that tab is getting bigger.

After getting confirmation from her and Minato he began: "As of the last few month's reports of missing girls skyrocketed. It is a disturbing fact that despite the best efforts of many we had not found it's cause. The best leads we had gotten was sir Zeltrechs throwaway comment and the conversation Lamperouge-sensei had with an unknown teen. However with lazy shrine maiden-chan's encounter with the still unconfirmed time traveler Akemi, Homura we have finally found the cause-"

"Wait..." Mirai interrupted her deepening scowl increasing as she turned over the word unconfirmed in her head. "What do you mean unconfirmed? With her abilities on far with Izayoi-san and the vampire Dio would be enough evidence?" Keima calmly sipped his drink at this before non-chalantly answering her.

"You and Reimu did not know this but Makoto was there during her checkup. And as one of our greatest and most reliable experts on the matter of time his observation is highly favored. According to him, Homura-kun's chronic signature showed little traces of chronic imbalances that showed that she had come from another time. It is known the Izayoi-san, Lingshen-chan and the known nightmare Dio Brando had these in their signatures. And they were a lot of them considering how they abused the fabric of time. Hell Makoto had them as well. But your new friend..."

"Had almost to nothing of the sort?" her sempai could only nod.

"However due to the fact that we are new to their kind, we are not certain if this is just the result of their... magic working. Now... may I continue my last point?" He asked looking at Mirai waiting to see if his wanted more clarification. Seeing the girl shake her head at jest Keima continued his former point. "As I was saying before thanks to lazy shrine maiden-chan encountering Akemi-kun we find that the reason of the disappearances... 'Witches' or as they are termed. These abominations feed on despair and sorrow within individuals to live and grow. And like a plague using their... 'familiars'... *goddamn reused terms* they spread out like a plague with each familiar growing into a smaller less powerful version of their mother witch. Furthermore these abominations originated from the puella magi..." Keima pauses and tries to hold back a sneer, gritting his teeth as he did so. Why wouldn't he? Kyubey's goddamn modus operandi was disgusting and horrific as hell. Heck the silent Raidou held back a similar gesture as a lot of them held great contempt at the information.

"Sorry. From the looks of you, all of us are still finding it hard to stomach this. Even if we accept the situation does not mean we like it..." Keima sighed. The majority of them could not help but get mad and frustrated by the information. Why wouldn't they be? They had all the reasons to do so yet they could only grit and bear it... unfortunately... Keima sighed, the next few things he will utter would make it worse.

"To the point 'puella's who fall become these... abominations. Creating a vicious cycle in which a certain creature gleefully exploits." Keima looked at Raidou waiting for confirmation. This is because the most affected of the current crisis is Mirai there with them, and Reimu who is currently doing her duties of Gensokyo's caretaker. He knew that neither would take the news very well. 'Especially Reimu...' Keima thought. "As of recent, due to this information we have managed to thin out the witches and make contact with the puella. Currently there are over a dozen individuals and groups working on making them normal. Unfortunately, it seemed a brand new organization has took note of it as well. And this is very evident due to the attack on Mami..." Mirai frowned and so did her sempais. "We dont know what they want but we do know they harbor extreme animosity to sensei and... well..." Keima looked conflicted and kept glancing to the two people with him before sighing... "Raidou... show it to her..." Raidou, who looked apprehensive, stayed silent before nodding. Taking out a phone from his pocket, he picked a peculiar video and then showed it to his kohai… Mirai talking note of this, slowly edged to the phone's screen…

Screams and intense noises of mutilation can be heard…

DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE

Bodies broken, twisted, corrupted… eaten eating…

Suffering SUFFering SUFFERING!

Moans of ecstasy mixed with wails of death, screams of terror mixed with pleasure…

Mirai promptly threw up, she could not look at the video any longer. Homura had said that witches came from either fallen puellas or full grown familiars… but… but… It seemed that this… whatever organization they were found a way to make witches without either…

"One of them was my classmate." Keima said bitterly. "Using torture and experimentation. They took the familiar's of these witches and painstakingly fused them to the many many missing girls throughout the world. And as you can see… It's…" The young man once more grinds his teeth. He wasn't close to many of his classmates but this particular girl was familiar to his 'sister' and her death confirmed from one of the scythes left during the battle with the kaijin confirmed that fact. If Kyubey was already disgusting, then these monsters were much worse. "We don't what they intend but from what happened to Mami…"

"Well protect her!" Mirai practically screamed. Her friend was a target and whatever they planned would not pass… They won't let it… They won't…

Back in Mitakahara, the aforementioned blonde looked upon the city with apprehension. She was lucky, if that rider did not helped her, she and her two kohais would probably have fates worse than death. She did not knew it, but she could feel it. After all no kaijin was nice (not that they knew of)… But that was not the only thing…

"Yo." Looking away from her thoughts was a certain red head she never thought she would see again.

"Kyoko… Never did it cross my mind to see you once more ever since that fateful day." She told the new arrival without even looking. She is dressed in a red dress parting slightly in the middle at the bottom showing a pink skirt and black stockings, a diamond opening was just below her colar showcasing her soul gem. Her long red hair tied with a black ribbon and she had long white detatched sleeves and red boots… It was the girl's magical girl outfit, the outfit worn by one Sakura, Kyoko. Usually this meant she was hunting but…

"Sempai… heh… I guess I spouted a lot of useless things back then eh…? Being greedy and preventing me from wishing… what a fool I was… And I still lashed at you in the end when the inevitable happened."

"I see…" For a while silence reigned before the blonde finally asked… "What is it Kyoko? I know you are not here just to apologize. You are… not a person to do so with words." The red head snorted before chuckling. Walking a few steps she sat down with the girl she had not seen and been with for quite some time.

"Frankly… We're afraid…" She started before continuing with a nervous voice. "Me… and the other puellas. Lots of us are disappearing for no reason, not even fighting, not even losing to a witch… just vanishing. And… and the witches… there are lots of them now. Some of them are incredibly weak, dying in one hit. Others are incredibly strong, needing a lot of us to take them down… But one things the same…"

"That they drop a lot of grief seeds…" The other girl nodded at Mami's words. Now looking at the girl, Mami noted that Kyoko wore an expression she had only saw once, and that was during her father's decent into madness… Fear… pure and extreme fear. And why shouldn't she. The last few days was very irregular, to the point she had been rescued twice. Once from a hero of legend and another from her best friend, who proved that she never had lied (she never did believe Reimu's stories about being a miko until then). But as she wanted to comfort the other girl, she couldn't… She was very unsure herself… that is why…

"Kyoko… No matter what happens… we'll survive…." 'Reimu… Mirai… now it's the time…' Nodding to the other girl the blonde left, not looking back. And thus unable to see the girl smile… unable to hear the words…

"Even now Mami… no matter how hard that I refute it... You still leave me at awe…."
