Chapter 5: Healing
(Thoughts are in italics)
Cody's POV:
Courtney finally decided to leave after a few minutes. 'Thank goodness' I thought. It's not that I don't like Courtney, she's a very nice girl when she's in a good mood, it's just that I needed to get to the dining room as soon as possible. 'Maybe I can get some answers as to where Gwen went'. The thought made my heart thump faster as I hurried to my room.
Fishing the key card out of my wet pants, I dashed inside to change into my evening attire. I decided on some dark jeans and a smart, button-up shirt. I combed my hair, and then left to get the answers that I desperately needed. I exited my room and almost ran straight into Katie. "Oops. Sorry Katie", I said as the pink clad girl smoothed her dress. "It's ok Cody, don't worry about it", she replied with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. 'There's something not right about her right now'.
"Katie, are you ok?" I ask remembering what had happened this morning. Losing the person who you thought was your best friend would be tough on anyone. "I don't know what you're talking about", she said quickly before slipping past me into the dining room, as if the fact that she had lost her bfffl wasn't a huge deal. 'That was odd, maybe she's just in denial or something' I thought as I walked to take a seat next to Lindsay and Noah.
"Hi Carter, where have you been? Dinner started, like, ages ago. You've already missed the roast beef and…" she drifted off when she realised that I was looking for something. Or someone, but she would never guess-
"Cameron, if you're looking for Gretel then don't bother, she hasn't come through here," Lindsay huffed, down hearted that her friend wasn't listening to her AGAIN! 'How the heck did she figure it out! Am I that predictable?' I wondered. "Of course not Lindz, I'm just…um… looking for Owen and Izzy. Yeah, that's it. They were worried when they couldn't find me earlier, so I wanted to let them know that I'm ok" I said, trying to find an excuse for my behaviour. "Well here they come now" said DJ, pointing to the approaching couple. "Hey guys" said Owen as he sat down next to his girlfriend and Noah. 'Oh no.'
"OMGosh! Cody! We've been looking everywhere for you! I even checked inside one of Mr Coconuts girlfriend's trees. Was she hiding you somewhere, I just knew she couldn't be trusted. I will avenge your coconut kidnapping Cody!" And with that, Izzy gave a mighty battle cry, grabbed a fork and a…What?! Who gave Izzy a hammer?!...and dashed outside. It wasn't what I was expecting her to say, but at least there was one less problem to deal with now.
Owen glanced at me warily. This is the first time I've ever seen Owen look so serious about anything. "Where were you?" he asked. "I left. Is that so hard to understand?" I replied getting annoyed with Owen. 'I mean seriously! You lock me in a room and don't expect me to escape? Honestly Owen, I thought you knew me better' I thought trying to contain the psychotic laughter that seemed to be building up inside me.
"That's it? No apology for making me worried sick with the possibility of one of my best friends doing something they would regret?!" he yelled until he realised that he was drawing a crowd, and ran out. "Gwen is a really cool girl Cody, but right now she means trouble, not just for you, but for all of us, if you try anything stupid. Think about how it affects us! Don't you think it hurts us to see her like this! To see you so torn up about it! But for the time being there is nothing we can do about how she's being treated. But we'll help you", Noah whispered from behind me.
"Yeah. We love you Cody, and we'll do everything to help you get your dream girl, but you're going about it all wrong", said Lindsay, and she came and folded me in a reassuring hug. "Yeah man, you need ta chill out for a while", DJ added, patting me on the shoulder.
"I can't guys! Gwen's missing! I have to find her! None of you care about her the way I do, so I don't expect you to understand, but until I know she's ok, I won't be ok either…" I told them. They glanced at each other, knowing that nothing they said would stop me. "Alright, we'll help you. You're our friend, and you're not in this alone" said Tyler.
"Thanks guys" I said as I pulled them all into a group hug. "What's with all the hugs man?" said Geoff, as he and Bridgette approached us. "Oh, I was just telling Cody how excited I am to go to Milan in 2 months with Tyler. We're going to see all the fashion malls and sports shops we can! Isn't that right Tyler?" Lindsay said to them, giving me a knowing glance. Bridgette and Geoff were on the fence about this whole Gwen matter. They liked her and didn't agree with torturing her, but they haven't talked to her since her break up with Trent.
"Oh totally babe" said Tyler, pulling Lindsay close. "It's gonna be EXTREME!" Now that I was paying attention to them properly, I noticed Lindsay was wearing a tight fitting sparkly red, floor length dress; and Tyler was wearing a Dark blue suit with a white shirt and black tie. Bridgette was wearing her off the shoulder blue short dress with her hair in a bun with silver flats; and Geoff was wearing a white tux with a blue shirt and bow-tie. Noah was wearing his usual black suit, white shirt and pink tie outfit. His tie matched Katie's dress perfectly.
Speaking of Katie, where was she? I glanced around looking for her, but there wasn't a pink dress insight. Especially now that Sadie was no longer wearing a pink dress like her ex-bfffl, but a skimpy, revealing orange dress with black stilettos and lots of make-up. She had even taken her hair down and dyed it like Heather's. 'That's strange' I thought. 'I saw Katie come in. How did she leave so quickly?'
"Hey guys, I think I'm gonna get going." I said goodnight to everyone and slipped out. Katie was nowhere in sight. 'Well Cody, add that to the list of things you need to do, right after make amends with Owen and find Gwen.' I sighed. 'This is going to be a long night.'
Gwen's POV:
I jerked awake. "What!? Where am I, I…." I managed to say before I collapsed back down and closed my eyes in exhaustion. A soothing wet cloth was placed on my forehead, calming me slightly for some reason. "Hush Gwen, don't worry, you're safe", said the female voice. I felt the warm blankets wrapped around me and silently thanked whoever this person was.
"Rest now Gwen. You're sick, and I'm going to take care of you, but you need to rest", she said. "Hmm", I mumbled already drifting off, even though all I wanted was to open my eyes and see for myself who this girl was. "Who are you?" I slurred tiredly. "Don't worry about that now Gwen, you have bigger problems right now", came her reply. I groaned and she giggled slightly, and it seemed so terribly familiar.
"Just know that I'm a friend." And with her comforting words, I fell asleep.
Author's Note:
Well, sorry it took so long, but it's up now:) I have exams so I'm either going to post a lot more often, or not at all in the few weeks to come.

You guys are awesome and deserve to be mentioned:) Thanks for getting me to 18 reviews! Let's aim for 25:) Sorry the chapter was short, but the next one is going to be at least 5000 words, so don't worry. Also, sorry if I didn't let Cody find Gwen in this chapter like I said he would, but I needed that part for future chapters.
Next Chapter: Gwen finds out who the girl is, and Cody finds out why Katie is acting so strange.
