Chapter 3-Spike the Dragon Part 3
The Dragon's Den:
The Dragon's Den a place where the dragon's eggs are kept in peace, thanks to the event of the eggs being stolen in the past. The Elder Dragons believed creating this place would ensure the safety of future dragons from the chance of being stolen again. The Den was a large room protected by a magical door which only reacts to dragon's magic.
"Spike your first task shall be egg watcher. There are fifty eggs within this room," Victor told him. Spike nodded his head with serious face.
"There are only fifty eggs? I heard tales that dragons usually have hundreds of eggs." Rarity said as Spike agreed with his unicorn crush.
"There usually would be more, we are being careful this time. The other eggs are kept in a different location." Victor explained to them.
"Rarity as of right now we haven't moved the treasure, we don't want anyone for treasure watch at the moment. But however I do believe Spike will be of assist with egg watch. Trust me egg watch is a very serious task. Treasure can be recovered with time. But the life of an egg is greater." The white unicorn nodded her head. With that said and done Victor left Spike and Rarity alone for egg watch.
One day later: Elsewhere in Ponyville
Princess Celestia was greeted by her loyal student Twilight Sparkle and her friends. But however the Princess noticed the group was short by one member.
"What brings you here my faithful student and your friends as well?" She asked the five mares.
"Sorry to bother you, Princess Celestia," Twilight Sparkle started.
"But we were wondering if ya seen Spike or Rarity?" Applejack spoke.
"Yeah! Last time we saw Spike was the other day but he didn't come home, from what Twilight told us. Then Sweetie-belle came to us wondering if we've seen Rarity." Pinkie Pie said.
Celestia let out a small sigh, as she believed what could of happen.
"I believe I know where those two are." She said, while rising from her throne.
"Princess Celestia?" Twilight looked a bit worried.
"Wait one moment," she told the five. Celestia left her throne room, as the five wondered where she went and where she thinks Spike and Rarity are.
The Princess Alicorn returned, but the five mares noticed that she held five necklaces that hold a piece of a purple egg shell.
"I believe Rarity has followed Spike upon his journey." She stated.
"Spike is on a journey? To where you're Highness?" Twilight asked.
"Spike isn't any normal dragon. I found Spike's dragon egg many years ago. I knew one day Spike would want to discover his origin. Where his egg came from and so on… but to make a long story short, I've sent Spike to discover the world he originally came from." She explained to her faithful student and friends.
"So what's the deal with the egg necklace?" Rainbow Dash pointed.
"These," she looked at the five necklaces, "will help you find your way to Spike. I'm only giving you this so you five can bring Rarity back. Spike is on a mission, he himself must do this on his own. I know this may trouble you all. But Spike is growing up, faster as days become the night. Much as you five discovered what you are, Spike must do the same."
"But how will this work?" The Rainbow haired mare asked.
"Go to the Everfree Forest, where there's a gateway you will find. Wait until Nightfall and the rest is up to you." Celestia told the five. The five mares nodded their heads and left the throne room.
Few hours later: Everfree Forest
The five finally arrived at Spike's last known location. The five arrived and right away upon their arrival the necklaces they wore around their necks, glowed bright, as before their eyes the stone ruins rose from the ground, fusing together to become the gateway.
"Ok, we'll just have to find Spike and Rarity, and bring Rarity back." Twilight said with a voice filled with worry.
"Relax, sugar cube this isn't our first crazy journey ya know?" Applejack said to her nervous friend.
"Yeah! Applejack's right. We have been through bigger problems…I just wonder if we'll see more dragons…since where Spike is there are a lot of dragons." Rainbow started to look nervous herself.
"I hope they're not mean dragons, or they bullying Spike." Fluttershy said with a frown.
"Ah I can't wait! I wanna see what's on the other side!" Pinkie Pie shouts.
Pinkie Pie ran towards the open gateway.
"Pinkie Pie wait!" Twilight yelled.
Her voice fell deaf to her pink friend, as they ran behind Pinkie Pie, entering through the gateway behind her. Like before the gateway closed once they were through.
Upon entering through the gateway, the five mares found themselves within another world; however it wasn't the world they were hoping to enter.
"COLD!" They shouted together.
The world they entered was a cold one indeed. The area they were now in was a very large ice carven. However unlike a normal ice carven it was snowing and very windy as well. The ground was covered in snow that was up to their thighs.
"This wasn't the place I had in mind for finding Spike and Rarity!" Rainbow Dash yelled.
"Let's try to find someone who may know where they are?" Twilight looked at her friends with a small smile.
"And while at it, find a warm place!" The Rainbow haired Mare added.
Suddenly a snowball came from nowhere and struck the back of Applejack's head. Applejack's hat flew off her head.
"My hat!" She yelled.
Applejack grabbed her hat after bushing off the snow, before she gave a quick snap glare at her friends.
"Which, one of ya threw that?!" She asked.
All eyes looked at Pinkie Pie who was looking innocent as they glared at her.
"It wasn't me," she said.
"Really?" Applejack raised a brow as she stared.
Then a snowball struck Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Twilight's faces.
"See! I told you." Pinkie Pie said.
"Where did that come from?" Twilight asked as she wiped the snow off her face.
The group looked around to see where the incoming snow balls were coming from. Pinkie Pie saw who the snowball thrower was.
"OVER THERE!" She pointed.
It was something the girls would never think of seeing or even thought of ever seeing. It was a large living snowman with a large black top hat on his head. The snowman gathered up snow from his own body and was ready to throw again.
"Hey girls, let's give him a taste of his own medicine." Rainbow Dash was gathering snow off the ground; she had a large smirk on her face. Applejack gave a nod as she too wanted revenge.
But before Rainbow Dash and Applejack could get their revenge on the snowman, the sound of large wings flapping in the air was heard. A large shadow cast over them as a spray of fire shot down to where the snowman was.
The girls watched as the snowman melted before their eyes.
"Oh my," Fluttershy said with a shocked look.
"Whoa." Rainbow Dash and Applejack looked surprised.
"He'll be fine, he's an annoying one but he'll recover in the snow. Not the first time I've melted him," an unknown voice spoke.
Landing down before the five mares was a large light green skinned dragon. It had yellowish eyes, which were focusing a very long stare at the mares.
"Um…hi…" Twilight said to the dragon.
"What brings five little ponies to the ice caverns?" The large Dragon asked them.
"We're looking for our friends, a purple dragon and white mare with purple hair." Twilight told the large Dragon. The large Dragon stared at them for a moment as its wings folded up.
"Ah you're looking for Spike." The Dragon chuckled with a big wide smile.
The five mares sighed with relief, glad the dragon before them was a friendly one.
"Come on, it would be faster if you travel with me. It can be quite cold here during the winter seasons." The Dragon lowerd his body down, offering the five mares a ride on his back.
"We get to ride a dragon, SWEET!" Pinkie Pie cheered.
"Hold on." The Dragon gave them a warning.
The large dragon unfolded his wings and within seconds he took off into the air. He flew through the large icy carven out to the open world beyond. He then shot through what appeared to be a large blue gateway. While flying through the gateway, the girls looked around their surroundings and saw nothing but clear night skies. When they looked down there was nothing underneath them at all.
Exiting the gateway, the large dragon made a quick landing as his claws dug deep into the ground. However his sudden stop threw the girls off his back.
"Heh sorry," he said.
The five mares found themselves lying on their backs in a painful position. Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy had their heads buried in the ground. While Applejack was holding her head in pain, Rainbow Dash had small stars floating above her head.
"At least we're here." Twilight rubbed her head.
"Twilight?!" They heard a familiar voice.
"Spike!" Twilight said happily. The others recovered quickly as they too were happy to see their favorite dragon.
"What are you ponies doing here?" The young dragon asked.
"We're here for Rarity and we were worried about you," Twilight explained.
Spike sighed with a large frown "Sorry, it's just…when I find out there were other worlds where dragons are..." He looked at the five mares with a small smile.
"It's ok Spike, but next time ya do something wild like this, let us know ok?" Applejack smiled at the young dragon.
"Where's Rarity?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"She's watching over the dragon eggs." He explained.
"Well, what do we have here?" A voice yelled from the skies. Everyone looked upward to see at least four dragons flying down to greet them.
"Victor, these are my friends." Spike introduced the five mares to the Elder Dragon. The Elder Dragon and his brothers looked at the young five mares for a moment before a sudden idea came to Victor.
"May I ask how you found our world?" He asked them.
"With these," Twilight showed them the egg shell necklace.
"Hey those are my egg shells." Spike noticed.
"Yeah Princess Celestia gave them to us, so we could find you silly Spike." Pinkie Pie chuckled.
"My, I would never ever think of using the magic of our dragon egg shells. Ah, tell me who this Princess Celestia is?" Victor asked the five mares.
"She's our kind ruler and my teacher."
"She's also my…mother." Spike mumbled.
"So she was the one who found your egg young one?" Victor asked Spike, as the young dragon nodded.
"Is there any way you can bring her here?" He asked them.
"Brother, do you think is wise to ask such a request?" Cahn looked at Victory with a worried look.
"At times like this, we could use all the help we can get. And we can't always depend on Spyro to help us." Victor sighed.
"Um excuse me, but would you mind telling us what is going on?" The purple Unicorn spoke.
The older dragons looked at one another before they gave a big nod. Spike wondered what the elder dragons were talking about, since Spike came to their world not too long ago.
"Spike, you remember the story of how Spyro saved most of the dragon eggs?" The young Dragon nodded to his elder.
"Yeah, he helped you find the eggs that he could find. Is there something else going on here?" Spike looked lost like his mare friends.
Cahn was the one to tell the young dragon and the five mares. "Long before the dragons eggs were stolen, Spyro had made powerful enemies during his journey as a young dragon. The first was Gnasty Gnorc, and the second would be Ripto, a powerful sorcerer who's hate for dragons knows no bounds. Both were defeated by Spyro."
"Something tells me a revenge plan is going to happen." Rainbow Dash said with long stare.
"There are rumors that Gnasty is still alive," Cahn spoke.
"What does this have to do with bringing Princess Celestia here?" Applejack asked the dragons.
"If our world should ever fall to Gnasty, sooner or later he would try to control other worlds; one would be the world you live in." Victor said to the young group.
"That could become a big problem." Spike said with a worried look.
"Indeed," Cahn nodded. "Gnasty magic is powerful, he almost took control of our world if it wasn't for Spyro. But Spyro has been busy with other matters, so we ask for help from Spike's allies in hope we can avoid this."
"Is this Gnasty guy really that powerful?" The Pink mare asked.
"He is. He was able to trap over one hundred dragons within crystal statues." Cahn said.
"And believe me young ones, being imprisoned in crystal is a real pain in the wings." The large green dragon spoke.
Elsewhere:
Gnasty Gnorc was alone as he entered what appeared to be a large throne room. Gnasty Gnorc took a seat at the large table before him. Far in front of him was a person sitting in a throne hidden in the shadows.
"So I take it you've heard?" The voice in the dark said.
Gnasty only mumbled under his breath.
"What would have me do? The last thing we need is another purple dragon getting in our way." The Gnorc said.
"For now this one is young, Spyro and the others is more of a threat."
"I wouldn't say that, Spyro was but a young one when he defeated us, this one wouldn't be different."
"True, but with the power I've given you it should be enough to dispose of them all, especially their new friends as well. Very soon their world will fall and ours shall rise." The voice in the dark laughed evilly.
The very next day:
With some time and thought, Princess Celestia agreed to meet the elder dragons and speak of the matter at hand before accepting to aid them in their battle against Gnasty. However the dragons were asked to be brought to the world of Equestria.
The Dragons that came to Equestria were Victor, Cahn and a few older dragons as the younger Dragons were told to stay behind. Spike being a young dragon, was able to come due to his relationship with the residents of Equestria.
"You must be Spike, Victor told me much about you, kid," said a tall purple dragon with yellow spikes.
"Wait…are you him?" Spiked asked the adult Dragon.
"Spike, allow me to introduce you to Spyro." The Elder Dragon smiled as the two purple dragons finally met one another.
"Sorry I couldn't find your egg Spike, but from what Victor told me, you turned out just fine." The famous Hero Dragon chuckled.
"Why are you here Spyro?" Twilight asked out of curiosity.
The Dragon Hero looked at Spike and his mare allies. "Victor asked me too," was his answer.
"I ask for Spyro's aid because if Gnasty does strike again, we would need of someone who has dealt with him in the past." He told everyone.
"Well that does make sense; you know being a hero and all." Spike chuckle lightly as Spyro gave a nod to the young dragon.
"But surely you yourself Spike have become a hero to this world?" Spyro asked him.
His question bothered Spike slightly, since he wasn't a 'hero'. He did help his friends but never did the things a hero like Spyro did during his youth. But the young dragon smiled at the hero dragon and turned his attention as Princess Celestia spoke to the dragons.
"I welcome you all to our home, dragons from afar." The Alicorn Princess said.
"Ah the pleasure is all ours," Victor spoke on the behalf of his dragon kin.
"Now then shall we begin?" She said with a small smile.
"Oh yes, it shall begin." A new spoke from nowhere.
Everyone looked around to see where the voice was coming from. However none of them could find its source.
However out from thin air came a being from a portal. The portal closed behind the being upon entrance. Everyone was surprised to see their new guest but none were as surprised as the dragons were.
"Hello Dragons." The being said with a wide smile.
"Gnasty!" Cahn shouted in anger.
Indeed it was Gnasty Gnorc, standing proudly in his golden battle armor.
Cahn growl in anger at the Gnorc, his wings spread afar ready to take flight.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you, or did you enjoy your time frozen in crystal Cahn." Gnasty chuckled with a wicked grin.
Spyro stood in front of Cahn and glared at his old nemesis. "What brings you here? Begging for another butt-kicking?" The hero dragon smirked in the end. Gnasty frowned the moment his eyes laid on Spyro. But soon his frown turned into a smile and soon after he laughed.
"This time I am ready. My forces are ready to destroy all that I see before me. I will reclaim what was mine, and there's nothing you dragons or your little ponies friends can do to stop us." He laughed loudly.
"What makes you think you'll win?" Twilight yell at the large Gnorc.
Turning his attention to the allies of his enemies, Gnorc only let out a small chuckle before turning his attention back to the dragons.
"Hey she's talking to you ugly!" Rainbow Dash shouted.
Suddenly Gnasty froze when he heard that one word he hated the most.
"What…did you say?" He turned, giving the main six, Spyro, and Celestia his full attention.
"I said, she's talking to you UGLY!" She made sure she was clear on the last part. Gnasty growled upon hearing that word again.
"What the matter, Gnasty it's been years, don't tell me you're still upset when being called ugly?" Spyro said with a smirk.
"He's no threat we have dragons and Princess Celestia on our side." Spike said.
"Yeah beating him is gonna be simple as cherry pie!" Spyro laughed.
"I hate you…I hate you all…I will show no mercy…not this time. I'm through playing around." A large green staff appeared in Gnasty's right hand.
Victor eyes widened in fear, he quickly looked at Spike and six mares. Victor used his dragon magic to create a portal behind them.
"You must go now or else we're all doomed forever." The elder dragon said to them.
"Victor, what going on?" Spike asked the elder dragon but the old dragon only smiled.
'Gnasty Gnorc is a simple, he poses no threat to us and most of all he is U.G.L.Y!' He remembers the words that set him off so many years ago.
"THAT DOES IT!" He shouted with fury. He held the staff high in the air with his eyes filled with hatred.
Victor flapped his large dragon wings as the wind pushed the six mares and young dragon into the opening portal before it closed.
"Princess you must flee as well or else you'll be trapped in crystal." Victor told Celestia.
But Celestia stood her ground and shook her head.
"I will aid you as much as I can. If I should fail I am sure Twilight and the others will restore balance." She said while staring at the Gnorc.
"You believe in the young ones as much as I do it seems." Victor looked at the Alicorn.
"Of course, I believe in my faithful student and her friends. I know she or Spike will fix this."
A beam of light shot from Gnasty's staff as it stuck Cahn first then the other dragons, Spyro dodged the beam of light shots. He flew toward Gnasty about to strike his old nemesis, but Gnasty dodged his nemesis air-dash summoned a second staff and fired it at Spyro. Spyro was hit by dark purple energy that quickly formed into chains and a collar that bound him to the ground.
Spyro struggled to free himself but was quickly blasted by Gnasty's crystal staff turning him into a crystal statue of a dragon.
"Now…who's next?" Gnasty asked with an evil smile.
In another world:
A portal ripped open in the air.
"Ah!" Spike was thrown out from the portal and crashed into pool of water. Quickly getting up from the pool of water, he looked around to see if any of his friends came with him?
"Twilight? Applejack, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity!" He shouted their names.
However there was no answer.
"This is not good." He sighed.
But suddenly he heard screaming from above he looked upward only to get crushed by the group of falling mares.
Thus begins…their new journey.
