With Robin and Ace in tow, Slade rushed outside, only to see plenty of men wearing red and black with skull masks. They were everywhere, breaking anything that wasn't of use to them. Stepping forward, Slade glared daggers into the largest man, who stood on top of a car with a young boy looking to be five or six riding on his shoulders, the child looked less then pleased though. The boy wore a skull mask as well, but instead of wearing a hoodie over his hair like everyone else, he let his dirty, orange hair fall freely. He had piercing green eyes, staring intently at Slade as he walked right up to this new mob boss, Robin riding on his shoulders as they arrived on the scene. The obvious leader, who still had the five year old on his shoulders, stepped down so that he and Slade were face to face while Robin and the other child were face to face, it was like a double stand off but with two completely different results.

"So, you're the new mob boss in this area?" Slade asked the man before him.

The foe nodded. "The names Red Skull... this is my son, Alex, but he's taken to being called Red X." He pointed at Alex before glaring at Slade. "I'm guessing that you're Deathstroke then? Huh, I thought you worked alone.

"I'm trying new things, not that its your business, now is it?" Slade asked, advancing forward a bit as a huge crowd surrounded them all. "Well then... surely you'll let me and my partner pass through, correct?"

"Not a chance, Deathstroke. Do you have any idea how much I'd make if I turned your sorry ass into Lex Luthor? I'd be set for life! No more zombies for me or my son to deal with!" The man explained, grinning at Slade. "I suggest you stand down."

Meanwhile on the boys end, it was going well. "So you're only six years old?" Alex asked, surprised by Robin's age.

"Yep, but I can still fight zombies really well!" Robin assured the year older boy with a big smile on his face. "So... what do you usually do?"

"I usually help my daddy sort out which weapons we should take from old buildings and which ones we should leave, its fun cause he lets me take toys and small weapons if I do a really good job at getting good weapons for his workers!" Alex explained innocently, not knowing that he was more or less helping in the murder of hundreds of innocent people.

Robin's eyes widened, he had left the mask inside, deciding he no longer needed it anyways. "Wow! That's so cool, I wish I could do stuff like that! All I do is fight zombies and bad people."

"That's really cool though, wow, I wish I could travel more!" Red X exclaimed, smiling at Robin. "Hey, wanna be friends?"

"Yeah!" You're cool and funny!" Robin agreed, reaching forward and shaking Red's hand happily.

Slade glared at Red Skull, already hating this man. He carefully set Robin and Ace down, giving Robin a soft look. "Why don't you go play with Ace... me and Red Skull have... business to discuss." He lied.

Robin nodded, smiling happily at Alex. "Hey, wanna come play with me?"

Slade quickly sent an 'Are you really gonna let your kid watch' look towards Red Skull, who quickly placed Red X on the ground, handing him a stuffed dog toy. "Go play with your new friend... daddy's got business to take care of." Red Skull told Red X carefully.

"Bye Slade, bye mister!" Robin yelled before running off to a nearby area that was being carefully watched over by several guards hired by Red Skull specifically to watch Red X whenever he went to play during Red Skull's 'Meetings'.

"Now that the children are gone..." Slade announced, drawing his blade. "Let the show begin." And with that, he leapt forward.

Things were definitely not going Red Skull's way, more then 3/4's of his men had already been killed by Slade and the mercenary had yet to even get a serious wound, sure he had plenty of small scratches on him and had even managed to lose his shirt in the fight, but was still overpowering Red Skull with ease. Now, it was one on one with Red Skull, far superior in skills then any of his men, and Slade, far stronger then anyone Red Skull had ever faced. Slade's long sword clanked against Red Skull's own sword as they fought bravely, taking a few moments in-between furies to make sure that the boys weren't looking. Suddenly, Slade managed to slash Red Skull's side with his sword, making the man yell with pain.

Meanwhile, the kids had heard the yell and now tiptoed when the guards weren't looking to watch the fight, eyes wide with surprise and amazement. They watched, swords danced through the air, slashing into each most of the time but managing to scratch the holder a few times as well. Red X had never seen a real sword fight before, and had been curious of how they worked, so he was very eager to watch just as his dad landed a hit, making Slade nearly fall over from the slash to his left leg. Robin also stared, amazed as well to watch Slade fight. He had known from the beginning that Slade was a very powerful man, but this... this was AMAZING. Suddenly, Red Skull looked away, staring with wide eyes as Slade stood, a rifle to Red Skull's forehead as he rose, chuckling darkly. Red Skull saw Red X watching, his eyes widened, fear and horror etched on his face.

"Alex! Don't lo-" But it was too late, Slade had failed to notice Red X or Robin's audience as he shot Red Skull straight through the head, chuckling darkly as he watched the mans head fly clean off, a bloody mess in its wake.

Alex stared, his face flushed as his green eyes widened with fear, shock, horror and trauma. He had just seen his father, the only person he had left in this world, be shot in the head by his new best friends father figure. Shaking uncontrollably, Red X jumped out of the tree, surprising Slade, who had not known they were there, and watched as Alex started attacking his legs, punching and kicking as tears gliding down his face. The mercenary had no idea what to say or do, before Robin finally stood by Red X, holding him back as his own tears fell, he stared into Alex's eyes, seeing an all too familiar pain and depression seeping into the emerald spheres.

"I... don't hate Slade... please. If you do, you'll turn mean and evil like he is sometimes, he isn't always, but he is sometimes. You can't do that, you'll lose more family then you'll avenge, I learned that the harder way. Please... I need a buddy, not just my puppy or Slade... but I need you." Robin explained, hugging Red close, even if he was much shorter then Red X was.

It was completely amazing to watch really, Slade didn't know how to react as he watched the two boys hug each other, crying the whole time. Suddenly, a moan that sounded far too much like a zombie gave Slade the message to leave.

"We're leaving now." Slade yelled as he easily scooped up Robin, Red X and Ace, running like all Hell was loose out of the mostly destroyed city.

It was night fall by the time Slade had finally found a safe enough shelter to rest with the kids at. By then though, Robin and Red X were already out cold, asleep on an old mattress in the building as Ace sat beside them, growling weakly every time he heard a single sound from outside. Slade sighed heavily as he sat on an old chair in the kitchen of the small house, much like his own from oh so long ago. The mercenary stood, his mask long gone as he rubbed a hand through his pure, white hair. He had more or less created an orphan today, not that he hadn't before, but he had done it in front of the poor boy, if Slade had known Red X and Robin were there... he never would have killed the man. Peeking into the bedroom once more, Slade saw Robin stir, opening up his baby blue eyes to stare into Slade's own set of icy blue. Robin smiled weakly, yawning before hopping off the bed and walking over to Slade, climbing onto his lap and resting his head on the mans chest.

"Can we keep him?" Robin asked, his puppy dog eyes at full usage.

Slade sighed, he knew this was coming. "One child is hard enough as it is, but two? I'm not a parent, Robin. I would... but, I have bad experiences with kids."

Robin shook his head, his raven colored hair swishing freely. "No! You saved me, right? You were nice and helped me when I was sick and scared, even when I was a meany to you! You're a good parent person." He explained innocently. "You may kill bad people, but I do too, so if your a bad parent then so am I!"

Slade couldn't help but chuckle at the child's innocence. "You don't even have any children."

"Well, no, but I got Ace and I'm a good owner to him!" Robin said, pointing at Ace as the puppy had finally fallen asleep, curled up against Red. "We can't leave Alex to die, he's my buddy now! If we leave him he'll die. And if you leave him... I'll never forgive you!" He threatened, glaring right up at Slade.

The stare down lasted a good eight to ten seconds before Slade finally sighed, god, he wished he didn't have such a soft spot for kids these days. "Fine, but we're gathering more supplies in that case."

Robin smiled as he hopped off of Slade's lap, showing a very evil and mischievous smile to the mercenary. "I knew you'd fall for the eyes." He gloated before running off, back to bed.

Slade growled under his breath as the boy disappeared back into the bedroom. "That boy will be the death of me." He whispered.
