Chapter 6. A Hybrid's Past Is Always There

Disclaimer: I promise, I don't own anything but
Veronica, and my ideas! And to be honest, I share those.

Warning?
Kissing, like descriptive kissing. Because of the fact that I'm paranoid, I wanted to put a warning of sorts here. Anyways, on with the chapter!

Veronica POV

I heard a small chuckle come from the tree-line. I snapped my head towards the sound, only to find Leah standing there, leaning against a tree with an amused expression on her face. I scowled, "How long have you been there? I thought that you left..." I grumbled the last part, now more annoyed then mad.

Leah smirked, "Not long enough to know much, I got here when you started to soak yourself in self pity." I rolled my eyes, causing Leah's smirk to get larger, threatening to burst into a full-blown smile.

Leah walked towards Jacob and I, still sporting her smirk, "But, from what I've heard you seem to have a very interesting past, Veronica." Her voice was deadly calm, and I needed to study her expression to assure myself that she wouldn't blow up on me, and remove my head from my shoulders.

I sighed, and glanced up at the setting sun, "Look, Jacob, Leah, this has been fun and all, but I think I should get going." I spoke to Jacob this time, "Maybe you can fill Leah in some more? I'll see you on Monday, give you some time to process this information."

Before Jacob could reply, I was rushing out of the clearing at Vampire speed, the trees become blurs of green and brown. I blurred in front of my house, and sat down on my porch, looking up to the sky, as if looking for answers.

After a few minutes, I walked to my door, only to find that it was open a crack. I furrowed my brows, no human would go this far into the house, and I doubt that any of The Cullen's would leave it open. The only sensible option would be that in my rush to leave, I forgot to shut it.

I entered the house, being careful to shut the door this time, and I called out, against my better judgment, may I add, "Anybody here?" I heard footsteps clacking against the marble floor, and I could see a dark figure, down the dark hall.

In a flash, the figure launched itself at me. Being a person who hates being out-done, I wouldn't let whoever, or whatever this was, take me off gaurd. I jumped at the figure as well, and I pinned it up against the blank white wall.

My vision focused on the face, and I felt some remembrance creep into my mind, I knew who this was, I just couldn't put my finger on it. His, dark brown hair that was almost black was gelled up in the front, I held his muscular body up against the wall, by his plain white tee shirt.

He had a gleam in his eyes, and a smirk on his face, and I finally realized who it was, "Maxwell." I stated, airily. His smirk widened, if that was possible, and his accent, like mine was fading, but you could still distinctly hear his British accent in his voice, "I go by Max now, but I'm glad that you didn't forget me, love."

I let him go, and took him by surprise, as he didn't catch himself, but dropped to the floor. He was up again before the second was up, and I glared at him, "What do you want Maxwell?" I questioned him coldly. Of coarse with my luck a bad day could turn to a horrible day in less then five minutes.

He had a mock hurt expression on his face, "I want you. I'm here to take you back, love." He paused, "And I told you, it's Max now." I rolled my eyes, "Alright, Max, what the fuck do you want?" I scowled as I said it, and he frowned.

Max went to turn on the lights, as they flickered on, he blurred back to my side, "Veronica, I want you." He stated again, this time serious, I scoffed, "Max, you never only want one thing. I recall that being your downfall." I taunted, causing him to narrow his eyes.

"Well I recall you saying that you'd come back for me, right after you turned me into a Vampire, and ran from the hunters, back in eighteen-ninety-seven." He countered, smirking "Wherever did you disappear to? Because I know that you weren't in this boring town that long."

Ignoring the last part, I replied, "I've changed Max. I want you out of this town, and when I want something I always get it." I growled at his cocky expression, "Besides, we both know I could kill you in five seconds, even if I wasn't a Hybrid."

He smirked, "Oh yes, I do know that, I've seen you make it happen with many other Vampires, but I'm not worried, we both know that you won't kill me." He replied, causing me to cock an eyebrow, "Oh yeah? What makes you so positive about that?" I asked, amused.

Max was behind me in a flash, whispering in my ear, "You still love me. No matter how much you deny it, in the bottom of your heart you still love me." I scowled, turning around to shove him away, "What heart?" I questioned, causing his smirk to widen, "The one that only beats for me."

I growled, "Why now? Why are you looking for me now? One-hundred-sixteen years of my absence didn't tell you that we were over?" He shook his head, "No. It told me that you weren't coming to me, so I had to come to you."

Frowning, I replied, "I didn't want you to come to me, Maxwell." He faltered hearing his full name but covered it up quickly with another arrogant smirk, "But you were lost love, and I told you that I would always find you." He countered, "I didn't want to be found." I shot back.

He came onto me, pushing himself onto my lips, and his tongue not bothering to ask for entrance into my mouth, I tried to fight, but my memories crept up on me, and I melted into the kiss, fighting his tongue for dominance.

The kiss was heated, and it was over to fast for my liking, I found myself remembering why I had used Max in the first place, back in eighteen-ninety-seven. He smirked, ripping me from my thoughts and back to reality, "You didn't want to be found? I think not." He stated, softly, no arrogance in his tone.

Before I could reply, he gave me a chaste kiss on my lips, "Goodbye love, I'll see you on Monday." He was back to his cocky self again, and I felt myself frown, knowing that I let him get to me. Max was about to leave, but he paused, "I know that you don't want me here, but I'm going to make you remember why you fell in love with me in the first place. I will fight for you."

With that, Max had blurred out of the house, leaving me angry and confused.

(A.N) Sorry I haven't updated anything in a while, and I'm really sorry about not updating MoonLight, but I'm off for two weeks, in a week, so I should update it by then! What do you guys think of Max? Personally, I like him, but I'm conflicted as to which team I'm on. Emma, is kind of playing both sides, she says that she's "Team Threesome" Emma... No. Just no.

What did you guys think? What team are you on? Let me know in your reviews!
