Chapter 4

A couple of days passed by without trouble. Grant left the servant and the prince alone; however, Arthur was still chained and Merlin still trembled. After most of his magic left him, the Dragonlord felt, not cold, but an absence of warmth. To make it worse, the prison seemed as if it was scared of warmth. It was in a cave and there was water droplets falling from the roof.

Arthur was very worried about his friend. To him, Merlin looked paler than usual and was unusually silent. Merlin's shirt was tattered since he riped strips of it to treat Arthur. The blond could not help wonder what went on that day. Merlin was taken from him, he heard many screams, and Merlin did not move for hours when he returned.

"Merlin. It's time."

Both men looked up; it was Grant - the blacked haired evil sorcerer. Arthur glanced at Merlin; he had eyes wide ope in fear.

Ignoring the tremor in his hands, Merlin stood up and walked towards the grey bars. He looked over his shoulders and smiled. "Try not to be a dollophead while I'm find."

Arthur forced a smile unto his face. "You can't talk to me like that!" Then when his servant left his gaze, he frowned.

Was he going to hear more screaming? Was Merlin going to be alright?

Once the two sorcerers were in Grant's chambers, Grant opened a magical book.

"That was very nice of you." Grant muttered. Then his ice-cold eyes pierced Merlin's soft brown iris. "Comforting him... but to what extent would you go to protect your little prince?" He then looked back down at the book and continued to flip through the cream colored pages. He chuckled; "I feel merciful. I will give u two choices... let Arthur free and stay foodless... or get a meal and see Arthur stay in chains."

"Will I be given a choice next time?" Merlin questioned. He wanted to calculate every variable he was given.

"Yes... but when will the next time be? I only took a little and for three days I had a fever... magic overload."Grant walked away from the leather bound book and to the awkward boy. He narrowed his eyes. "It would be better if you just let Arthur go. Why drag this situation any longer?"

"What would happen to me?" Merlin internally asked. He bit his cracked lip. "Will I escape as well?" He thought.

No. Merlin knew what Grant was thinking of. He knew exactly what he was thinking of.

"No."

"No?" Grant raised his eyebrows in disbelief. "Why is that Merlin?" He got up in the warlock's face.

"Because... I'm human... I need food... and..." Merlin paused. "And I'm truely scared." He thought. He had the right to be scared. For the past three days he had been without magic. If he was to escape from the cave, he would need help. Arthur isnt completely useless.

"Fine." Grant spat. He raised his chin and looked down on the big eared fellow. He raised his left had and covered the dragonlord's eyes. "I will keep you in pain for as long as I live. You will become my SLAVE... my FOOD." The sorcerer was furious. His calculation was wrong. He never... never got anything wrong.

Arthur pulled on his chains, he has been working on them for the longest time. The blood left his upper arms and he felt weak.

"Damn." He muttered. Strength left him. The blond then looked up and saw a shadow. "Merlin?"

"No."

The prince looked up and saw...
