The Last of Us – See What You Can Do

Seeing you there when I told you to stay put without a doubt caused me to see red. Girl don't seem to know when I tell her to go right, to go right. No, she ultimately decides to go left, down, or anywhere but where I tell her. When will she listen to me?

But that conversation we had afterwards allowed me to see past the red. What could have happened if you didn't listen to me? What could have happened if you just stayed put waiting for me? Would we even be where we are right now?

Hell if I know.

So let's put something to the test. Let's see if you can handle this task. Like I said, you seem to know your way around a gun. I guess a BB gun and a shooting rifle don't really have that big of a difference. And seeing as you used to shoot rats, you know what to do when it comes to aiming.

At least there's that.

There's quite a lot of them here. Making the wrong move means everything goes to shit and there's very little chance of it going back. Stealth is the best way to go here. Like always. It's a lot slower but what can you do. You can't deny the benefits. Saves ammo, supplies, and more importantly, decreases the chance of leaving you alone here in this man eat man world.

I hate to admit it, but that thought terrifies me. You claim you can handle yourself and I get the vibe that you can. But what if I put that to the test? How long would you be able to last?

Back there, I meant what I said; I didn't just say that to calm you. You were right; it was either him or me. With how much of a dick I've been to you, I wouldn't be surprised if you tried aiming the gun at me. Either just to scare me and send a message or legitimately. I know I would. I should have given you credit when you didn't shoot my head off, and shot his.

Good girl.

Usually I can handle myself in these types of situations. Even with a handful of close calls, I still manage. But since you walked into the picture, I got to admit, it's good to have an extra pair of eyes. It's good to have backup when I fuck up. You're there to point out anything that I may miss or save my ass when the occasion arises.

You have determination, potential, and a lot of it.

"We'd have more of a fucking chance if you'd let me help."

You just need practice and maybe I should more opportunity for you to do so.

I sure as hell didn't become the man I am now overnight.

I told you if I get into trouble, to make every shot count. But what if that moment just…appeared? Could you handle it?

Only one way to find out.

Maybe if I just slip up.

Peer around the corner at the wrong time.

Pretend like they don't see me when they damn sure can.

Just casually walk around…

Maybe even fire off a couple of bullets.

"Did you fucking see that?"

"He's here!"

"Flank him!"

Maybe I can begin to see what you can do.

Okey doke, this takes place after Joel gets out of the basement (jeezus t_t) and when he gives Ellie a gun. I thought that was a big stepping stone in their relationship. Building trust and all that.

This literally came to mind as I was going through this part of the game and because of a glitch where a hunter literally teleported next to me as I was stealth killing another guy. Still made it though! Endure and survive. Thanks Ellie! =D

First TLOU fanfic, I'm on my way XD

Thanks for reading. Please review =)
