Chapter 1:
Meeting Bobby Mercer:
Danielle was driving to Detroit from her home in New York with her little sister Jennifer and Jack Mercer- her sister's boyfriend of three years. Jack's mother Evelyn Mercer was shot a week ago and her funeral was today. Jenny had been sitting in the back of her sister's Silver 2003 Acura RSX with Jack, holding his hand the whole way from New York to Detroit. We had been driving for just under ten hours, only stopping for gas and changing up who was driving so the others could sleep. Danny was stubborn though, she only slept for three hours the entire journey and then she was at the wheel again. "How you doing back there Jack? Do you need anything?" Danielle asked, looking back at her sister and Jack in the rear-view mirror. "No thank you. I appreciate all you've done. It means a lot. Are you sure you don't need to sleep, Jenny or I would be happy to drive if you do." He answered and Danny waved him off. "No, no Jack. I'm fine. Thank you though, but I've got it. Besides I'm happy to do this for you. I know how much your mother meant to you, she was a wonderful lady, even if I only met her a couple of times. She sure does know how to make an impression. Its the least I could do, to drive you up to go to her funeral, you're practically family, Jack, and there isn't a thing I wouldn't do for family." She told him scanning the road for their exit.
They drove in silence for the remainder of the trip. "Ah, here we are." Danny sighed, parking the car in the cemetery lot. They got out of the car and Jack turned to Danny and gave her a big hug. He had to bend over a bit since Danny was only 5 '5' and he was 6 ft even. "Thank you SO much for this Danny. It means a lot to me the you and your sister drove up here with me." He told her, taking hold of his girlfriend's hand. "No problem. Just because I don't know her all that well doesn't mean that I don't owe her the curtsey of going to her funeral, after all, she did raise you, so I should thank her for guiding you along to our little family and to my sister, making her so happy, which is all I really want." Danny smiled at the tall, thin young man beside her and they headed for the funeral home.
Danny pulled her Black pea coat tightly around her delicate frame and shivering slightly as the wind whipped her blond hair into her naturally sun kissed face. Danielle looked around at all the sad looking people dressed in black and it brought her back in time, back to Donny's funeral. She felt a tear slide down on of her cold cheeks, and let out a depressed sigh. "Ella? Are you okay?" Her sister's voice shook Danny from her memory of one of the worst days of her life. "Hmm? Oh yeah. I'm fine. Its just..." Danny trailed off, looking at her feet, feeling guilty about making her sister worry about her when she should be worried about Jack. "It's just that it reminds you of Donny's funeral?" Jennifer finished, putting a slender hand on her older sister's small shoulder. "Yeah, but I'm okay, you should go be with Jack, see if he's okay." Danny assured her, looking around for the tall boy. "Oh he's fine, he's over there with his older brother Jerry. Come on you should meet them." Without waiting for Danny's answer, Jenny pulled her over to where Jack stood with his brother. "Hey Jerry, you remember my sister Danny right?" Jenny looked over to her sister, who had her head down. "Yeah, you're Ryan's little sister, right? He talks about you none stop, he's really proud of you. I'm sorry to hear about you husband by the way." Jerry said in an oddly cheerful way, seeing that he's at his mother's funeral. Oh crap. Not good. Not good. Jenny thought and looked up at Jack who nodded. "Jerry." He warned, cautiously. "No, No it's okay Jackie, I'm a big girl I can handle people talking about Donny without bursting into tears." Danny laughed half-heartedly. "Well, well, well. What do we have here?" A low husky voice sounded from behind the girls. Danny was the first to turn around, and completely froze in place when she saw a handsome man in a heavy brown jacket that covered a light blue dress shirt and tie. Jack looked between Danielle and his brother, hoping that she wouldn't fall for his charms. "Um... Bobby, this is Danielle, My girlfriend's sister. She drove us down here." Jack stated, but it seemed to him that neither Danny, nor Bobby had heard him. Jerry, Jenny and Jack stood silently, staring at the minor confrontation going on between Bobby and Danny. "Hey there sweetheart, how've you been doing? Are you okay? I didn't think you'd come." A blonde haired, blue eyed, boy that towered over Danielle broke through the trance that Bobby and Danny had been under, kissing her on the cheek and giving a hug, which she mindlessly return, very confused at what just happened.
What the FUCK! Bobby exclaimed in his head. He had know idea what just happened between the blonde haired beauty and himself, but he sure as hell didn't want it to be interrupted by this asshole. Jealousy boiled up inside of him. Strange. He wasn't one to get jealous. Booby stole a glance down at the blondes' hands and saw that there was a thin gold ring on her slender finger, and a thick one on his. Shit! She's married! He silently cursed. "Hi Ry. Yeah, I'm okay why wouldn't I be?" The golden haired goddess asked the young man beside her. That's when another blond- much younger than his mystery women- came up to him and whispered, "Her name's Danielle and that is our brother Ryan. Don't worry she's single." Bobby felt a smirk grown on his face. "Oh, uh... Sorry. I'm being rude. My names Danielle Clark, and this is my big brother Ryan and my little sis, Jennifer. You must the famous Bobby Mercer, Jack has told me a lot about you." Danny informed him, only making his smirk grow. He's her brother. Well then this should be fun. "Is that right? The Fairy's been talkin' 'bout me. Well it's a pleasure to meet you." Bobby bent over at the waist and kissed Danny's hand, making her blush. "Now do tell me if you're not married... then why are you wearing a wedding band?" He thought that he had obviously hit a sore spot, because he saw Danny's glorious smile fade away. "Because my husband died last year and I do not wish to forget him." Her answer was simple and for the most part made sense, but before he could apologize, for being rude, Ryan took her hand and led her into the funeral home. "Nice going Bobby." Jack smacked his eldest brother upside the head, and then turned to Jenny who was glaring at Bobby. "Baby, why don't you go and sit with your sister, I have to go and sit in the family section so I will see you after the service. I think she needs you more than me." He told her, giving his girl a reassuring smile. Once she left, Jack and Jerry both turned back to Bobby. "What the hell was that man?" Jerry exclaimed, most people were in the home now so not many people saw the dispute. "I don't know, I was curious. The Fairy's girl, told me that she was single so I asked, what I thought was a harmless question. I guess I was wrong. Sorry." Bobby explained, putting his hands up in surrender. "Shit Bobby, next time you see her you need to apologize for what you said, she's my family, She's my girl's sister. So lets just get inside and after the service you find her and you apologize." Jack ordered. Bobby had never seen his little brother being so commanding and threatening before, Guess I'm rubbing off on him. Bobby smirked at the thought and said, "Okay Fairy, lets get this done." And with that they head inside.
The ceremony wasn't long; it was short, simply and to the point. Evelyn Mercer was an outstanding member of society and an even better mother, and friend. After they buried her Jerry came up to Ryan, Jenny, Danny and James- James had showed up later on and joined his siblings at the back of the crowed, and invited them over to his place. They agreed and everyone go in their cars and drove off towards Jerry's house.
