Day before full moon

Selena's POV

There was something about today, something that was supposed to happen, something big. I had a feeling I knew what it was but I jut couldn't quite grasp it from the back corners of my mind. It was as if something dark was clouded around it, shrouding it from view like a veil of mist.

Other than that the only give away was Pitch and his frantic organising. Setting his night'mares' all around the cave barricading it up; all the while with a sickening, I mean, amazing smile across his face. Eris on the other hand was sitting around looking through her magic window at the people struggling to gain access to the cave. I knew how it would go, Pitch and Eris would stay in the main chamber of the cave circuit and fight; they would drive the intruders out and eventually he will gain the power he has been craving. While I just stay in a chamber towards the back, past a winding labyrinth of tunnels that only I know the way through. It was a decent sized chamber not as big as this one, but still decked out with snacks, comfy seating and suitable entertainment in the form of painting and sculpting.

"It is time" those three words Pitch spoke was all Eris needed to break out into the widest grin and snap her fingers, releasing the rock from its place. The sound of the rock moving vibrated through the caverns echoing even after it had stopped moving.

"Finally, the last stages of our plan begins" Eris cackled ecstatically, it sent cold shivers down my spine and again something pulled from the depths of my stomach and again I pushed it back down. Pitch turned to me

"you know what you have to do Selena" nodding I sighed and turned towards the beginning of the path that led to my temporary hiding place.

Jack's POV

The rock moved backwards and crumpled to the ground in a heap of pebbles, leaving the entrance wide open for us. We all crowded around it knowing that this was what Pitch wanted. Whether he wanted it or not I charged inside running straight for the main chamber. The others followed seconds after, Faun yelled out multiple battle cries; echoed by her tiger/pixies. North and his Yeti's followed after holding handmade baseball bats. Cupid, Tooth and all the little baby Tooths swarmed inside the sound of their hummingbird wings reverberating off the cave walls like a colony of hornets. Bunnymund and Sandy brought up the rear of our group, armed with the usual egg bombs, boomerangs and dream dust.

When I reached the main chamber I paused and took in the hundreds of black nightmares that stood before me like a cloud of darkness. Pitch and Eris stood on a ledge in the middle smiling down at my glare. Selena was no where to be seen, I looked everywhere, my eyes darting from one place to another; no sign of her. I charged into the storm of black taking down ten nightmares in the space of a few seconds. The others entered and all hell broke loose. The entire scene was mess of darkness, and color just splattered everywhere. Egg bombs exploded, baby tooths swarmed, yetis clobbered, tiger pixies mauled and flashes of North's swords could be seen left, right and centre.

My eyes focused on the people responsible for all of this, Pitch and Eris. Cowardly they stood allowing their beings of dark magic do all the dirty work for them. I growled and froze my way through the nightmares to them, eyes filled with hate. Nothing could stop me. Although, just before I reached them a small white figure appeared in my peripheral vision before disappearing, tail and all into another tunnel; it had been Lilly. I ignored her and focused my full attention again to the dark masters themselves.

Selena's POV

The battle raged on in the main chamber as I stand here painting, trying my best to put it out of my mind. The thought of not fighting was getting to me, I felt useless something I am not use to. I imagined the battle cries, the egg bombs hitting the walls and the growls of tiger pixies were music in the background. It was working until something interrupted it. It was small something you wouldn't notice unless you had become accustomed to the sound of battle in the background, like I was. It was the tiny pitter, patter of paws on the hard, jagged ground of the cave tunnels. I looked towards the entrance of the chamber when a small, scruffy, familiar head poked around the corner. Lilly bounded over to me, flying up and into my arms in pure joy at finding me. I hugged her close, as much as I enjoyed being in Pitch's company I had truly missed my little head wolf pixie. Setting her down on the ground I turned to the table of snacks throwing her a piece of meat.

"So how have you been, keeping the world in order while I've been gone I hope" she finished her mouthful of lamb before speaking

"Yes, of course Selena, what kind of head pixie would I be if I didn't" I smiled warmly at her, reminded of just how loyal and responsible she really was.

"I must tell the others where you are, Jack will be ecstatic and everyone will be very pleased that I've found you" Lilly lifted her head up as I swiftly turned around and let out a very loud howl. Quickly I bent down and clamped a hand over her jaw, shutting off the howl as quickly as it was initiated.

"No you can't do that, they can't know where I am Lilly, I am in hiding for my own protection". She just looked into my eyes confusion written all over her own brown ones. She tugged on my dress pulling it and me towards the entrance, digging my heels into the ground I came to an abrupt halt.

"Lilly I can't go now stop it right this second" se kept pulling "that's an order" she stopped and looked at me dead straight in the eyes.

"Pitch has you locked up here doesn't he" she looked away saddened about the fact.

"It's for my own good Lilly, Pitch really isn't a bad person once you get to know him, and you will have to because… because I think I love him" Lilly looked horrified and slightly disgusted for reasons I did not know.

"How could you Selena just how, you… you love J" she stopped abruptly before running out.

Unbeknownst to Selena, Lilly had all of a sudden realised how strong Pitch's hold over her was. She knew that she would never get Selena out of that chamber and to Jack. Instead she had to bring Jack to the chamber.

Jack's POV

THWACK! My staff came into contact with Pitch's conjured sword, the cold frost clashing with the black darkness. I was overwhelming Pitch as he stumbled backwards one pace, pushing the staff and its icy touch closer to his face, pitch abruptly stepped to the side and I fell to the ground beside him. Eris loomed over me, smiling a cruel smile; no doubt thoughts over how she would torture me swarmed her twisted mind.

"You know I can see why she liked you Jack, you're actually quite hot for someone so cold" Smirking she leant down and placed a single kiss on my lips, just a peck, but I shoved her off before she could do anything off. The bitter taste lingering on my lips reminded me of just how dark she really was. Angry that I had not only shoved her off but also rejected her, she launched herself at me picking me up by my shirt

"Selena has told you about how I released my brother, hasn't she" I simply nodded glaring daggers into her eyes; if only looks could kill.

"Good, well aren't you curious to whom I have to kill for that old hag of a witch" this time I didn't nod, just simply glared.

"I knew you would be, anyway, it was you, the old hag had loved my brother and you caused his death" she screamed and threw me ten metres away.

SMACK! I hit the cavern wall back first, falling to the ground I tried to regain my breath. Eris stalked towards me, ready to finish me off as a swarm of baby tooths and tiger pixies attacked her.

I lifted myself off the ground as Lilly came bounding towards me, through the massive battle around us. Panting she calmed herself before clamping her jaw onto my hoodie and tugging as hard as she could.

"What are you doing Lilly I have to get them" she didn't let up.

"What is it Lilly I don't have time for this" she tugged again, this time harder and while growling; something was up she wouldn't do this for no reason.

I slowly got up and turned towards the little white wolf

"What is it girl, what do you need" her tail wagged as she realised I had understood her. She bounded back through the battle as I struggled to keep up, having to duck, sidestep and jump over things to avoid getting hurt. Eventually she lead me down a long tunnel, through a maze and to the entrance of another corridor all the while sniffing the ground with her nose.

We came to a small doorway, obviously to another chamber of the cave circuit, but tis one was different; it had light coming from it. Lilly casually padded inside, more cautious I slowly walked into the entrance finally seeing the one person I had been looking for.

"Selena" she looked at me surprise and fear filled her eyes, she was afraid of me, how could she be afraid of me. Pitch would definitely pay for what he has done. I put all thoughts aside, I knew what I had to do and although I would enjoy it I wished the reasons behind my actions had never happened. I walked towards her, taking three confident strides before I grabbed her arms and claimed her lips with my own. Her sweet taste took over the lingering bitter one left by Eris. She pushed me off of her and for a single moment I thought that it had not worked, that all this was for nothing.

"Jack, what the hell was tha…"

Dun, Dun, Duuuuun (waves arms in the air like Belt)

gotta love belt he knows just what to say when to say it. Unlike me, i just have bad timing.
