TJ is a little older. But he has more questions than ever. More worried about love. She is not magical like me. I know I'm awesome. Anyway... Here you go.
"Hey Daddy?" TJ asked one day after Tate got home from work, but Faith wasn't. "How did you know you loved Mommy?"
Tate thought before answering, "I didn't know until it actually came out. I thought about her a lot, but I figure it out one day, without even thinking." He paused and looked over the newspaper he was reading. "Why do you ask?"
TJ didn't answer, instead he asked, "How long did you know each other before you figured it out for sure?"
"Well I figured out after knowing her about a month or two. But of course it happens at different speeds for everyone. Why do you ask, buddy?" Tate answered his son.
A car pulled into the driveway, but neither of them took any notice of this. They were too caught up in their conversation.
"How about Mandy? Was it the same? How did you know you loved her? When did you know it?" TJ asked, once more ignoring his dad's question.
"It was different because Mandy and your mom are really different. I don't really know how I knew it with her. Don't know how long or when I figured it out with her." TJ's dad answered.
"Who do you love more now, Daddy? Mommy or Mandy?" TJ asked.
There was a pause so Faith announced her presents, "Hello there! How was your days? Anyone want to come help me with supper?" When neither of the boys answered, afraid of how much she heard, she said, " Okay, I'll dinner by myself, what does everyone want? And please agree tonight." Their family often couldn't agree, resulting in Faith choosing the meal.
"How about pork chops," Tate answered.
later that night, at TJ bedtime
"Good night," Faith told her son as Tate waited by the door of his son tiny room.
"Mommy, when did you first fall in love?" No answer. "Mommy, do you know who daddy loves more?" Still no answer. "Why don't you answer my questions?" Once more no answer. She left the room.
Tate walked inside TJ bedroom. "Good night, son. I love you."
"Daddy why does mommy not answer my questions?" TJ asked his daddy. Just as they heard a crash in the other room. Both of the boys ingnored it.
Tate thought, "I do not know. Why did you not answer mine earlier today?"
"Good night daddy. Love ya."
Tate left the room and entered the living room. Faith was cleaning up broken glass. Some how she had knocked over a lamp. "Why did you not answer his questions?"
"Whose?"
"Our son's"
"When did he ask questions?" asked Faith.
"Just now."
"I heard you two talking today."
There was a pause before Tate answered, "And?"
"Who do you think he likes?"
