Chapter Sixteen

Dean had picked me up the next morning and I cried the whole way back to the house. Dean didn't try to talk to me about it and I was thankful for that. I could just pretend I was alone because that's how I wanted it to be. We arrived back at the house and Dean walked in without me. I rubbed my eyes and saw another person in there besides Dean. I rushed out of the car and through the front door to find Spencer walking up behind Dean with a knife.

"Dean look out!" I screeched right before the knife came down on him and he rolled away before it hit him.

"Now I am going to take what's rightfully mine and nobody gets hurt." Spencer shouted. His hair was sticking up in all different directions and he had a very crazed look in his eyes.

"If you want her you are going to have to kill me first." Dean shouted with fiery in his eyes.

"Now now Dean lets not be hasty. You already got her mom when do I get to win?" Spencer said smiling a wicked smile.

"A guy like you never wins." Dean snarled.

"Ouch that hurt like right here." Spencer said sarcastically holding his heart(or where his heart should have been). "You want to finish this? Winner gets Delila and loser…well it doesn't matter what the loser gets because that won't be me." He said readying his knife.

"No we fight bare handed. It's only fair that way."

"Nobody said this was a fair fight." Spencer said running towards him with the knife out. Dean acted quick and busted into a black-winged horse. The knife stabbed him in the front right leg. The leg bled for a second and then closed up. Dean didn't even wince.

"You see Spencer it will never be a fair fight. You will always lose." Dean said in a stern voice. His voice was deeper when he was transformed. It was kind of sexy. "Now do you want me to finish this?" He said standing his ground and looking more hostile than I have ever seen him before.

"She is mine!" Spencer shouted taking out a gun and aiming it at Dean.

"You have no ground here!" I said pushing my emotions of Sam aside. Spencer looked at me and waved the gun in my direction.

"Now why would I need ground? I already have you in every possible way. Why do you think you can't fall in love with someone? Your heart belongs to me." Spencer laughed kissing my hand. "Beauty." He whispered pulling away and smiling his wicked smile. I didn't see what happened next all I saw was the after math of Spencer on the ground with Dean standing over him.

"Did you kill him?" I asked looking as Spencer's body laying on the floor.

"No I wish I could but this isn't my territory. Only you can really kill him, Lila. I and Sam can only hold him off. You need training." Dean said in his deep voice and nudged Spencer's unconscious body. "I'll take care of him."

"Wait why don't I just kill him now?"

"Because you could awaken his really power and you aren't ready for that. You awaken things in him even he can't understand." Dean said turning back into his normal form.

"Ummm…Dean your…uhhh…naked." I said trying not to look at his magnificent body. He really had a great body.

"I'm not worried about it." He chuckled pushing my hair out of my face and leaned into kiss me.

"Dean I can't do this right now." I sighed running up the stairs in tears and fell into the bed Sam and I used to share. I knew I shouldn't miss him after how he treated me but I still did. I was bound to him…forever.

"Lila I brought you some dinner if you want it." Dean said knocking on the door. I heard him walk into the room and kicked the door closed behind him.

"I don't want anything." I said looking at him through tear strained eyes.

"You have to eat. Keep your strength up." Dean sighed, coming to sit next to me on the bed and placing the food tray by his feet. "I'm sorry. What I did was way out of line and it won't happen again unless you ask me or make the first move. I promise."

"It's not that Dean. It's Sam…" I said sitting up in my bed and wiping my eyes with the back of my hand. "How could he lie to me like that? I trusted him and I wasn't good enough." I said as tears still streamed down my face.

"You understand that Sam is a warrior by heart. He was born to be the head of the Warriors of Mist. Why do you think Kale tried to get rid of him all those years ago? Now that the warriors are on the verge of extinction they need Sam. He just didn't know how to say no." Dean said putting his arm around me.

"But wasn't he gaining so much more?" I said as snot started pouring out of my nose, while I cried.

"Here." Dean said handing me the napkin that was on the food tray. "You really love him don't you?"

"How could I according to Spencer I can't really love." I said wiping my nose and eyes with the napkin.

"Maybe a connection could overrule. True love is very powerful."

"But what is true love Dean?"

"I don't think I know. If I did your mother would be mine." Dean sighed rubbing my arm.

"So who do you have in mind for a trainer."

"I would do it myself but you need another dragon to teach you." He said taking out his phone. "And I know just the person to call." He said dialing a number. He got up when a voice answered the phone. "Yes it's Dean have a favor to ask and its very important. Yeah. Okay. I will see you in the morning." He said hanging up the phone and looked at me.

"Who was that?"

"Your father. I asked him if he knew anybody who could help you with training. He said he had someone in mind." Dean sighed. You could see he was upset that he couldn't train me. "Now eat and get some sleep. You have a long day ahead of you." He said kissing the top of my head and leaving out the door before I said anything about the kiss.

I woke up to chattering coming from downstairs. I got out of bed and made my way down the stairs.

"I hear footsteps." I heard a familiar voice say from the living room.

"Dad?" I questioned in surprise. I knew he was coming but to hear his voice was enough of a surprise for me.

"Delila." My dad smiled running to hug me. He picked me up and twirled me around. "I missed you so much." He said as I felt him take a deep breath. Was he crying? "Your mom would have come but this concerned the dragons of the family."

"Dragons of the family? There are more?" I questioned as he put me down and I could see the streaks of tears on my dad's cheek so he must have been.

"Yeah a couple but they couldn't make it so its just me." He smiled through tears.

"You are going to train me?"

"I would love to but you see I can't teach the ways of the dragons because I don't remember any of them." He chuckled. "So I have a back up man." River said pushing the hair out of my face.

"Who?" I questioned as a man with shaggy dark hair and black eyes came towards my dad and I. It couldn't be who I thought it was could it? "Dylan?" I questioned as the guy looked up and smiled sweetly.

"Hey, Angel." He said walking over to River's side.

"Your my trainer? How...how did you escape from the castle?"

"The same way you did. Walked out the door." He laughed. "Since Spencer has left The Cloaks don't know what to do. Security really sucks there now. Everybody could leave."

"Last time I saw you you wouldn't stand with me to take down Spencer. What makes you so sure that you can do it this time?"

"Nothing just time is wasting for anybody to dally in there life. Their is war coming and we must all be ready."

"War?!" I screeched. "What happened while I was gone?"

"Nothing really. The dragons just want to over throw The Cloaks and lets not forget the council. You will lead us Delila. You will lead us to victory."

"Me, lead to victory!? What do you mean, Dylan? I can't do stuff like that!"

"Of course you can. Delila you our generation's queen."Dylan said bowing in a mocking way.

"You have got to be kidding me! There is no way I would but the queen. In order to be queen you have to have royalty in your blood and I have no-"

"Actually Lila we do have the royal genes. My grandfather from so many centuries ago was king and when he retired or died(I can't remember which now) his son would take his place and so on and so forth. Until it came to your generation." River said cutting me off.

"No I can't be queen! What have I ever done to deserve that title?"

"You were born." Dylan said laughing at my expense.

"Well with all do respect I don't want to be your queen."

"You and everybody before." River sighed remembering something.

"Were you ever king, River?" I asked trying to get him of the

subject of me being the queen.

"No I was prince for a little while though. My family was overthrown by the council. They were a lot stronger then. We were a peaceful species. We became slaves to the council to do all the jobs they didn't want to do. Like execution." He sighed having a flashback of his own. "The things they made us do I will never forget but I promised myself I would never speak or do those horrible things again. Then I did; to my own daughter. She was burned, I could smell it on her. She died in my arms..." He trailed off looking off into the distance trying not to cry. "She was so young. She was my little girl." River said trying real hard not to let the tears flow out of his eyes but a few escaped and traveled down his cheeks. "It was my fault for not being able to hold my breath or my anger."

"You can't blame yourself for Iris' death."

"Wait who is Iris?" Dylan questioned.

"She was River's first daughter and she died." I sighed hugging my dad that was now bawling tears.

"Dad why don't we get you a couple beers." I said taking his hand and walked him into the kitchen. I cracked him open one beer and cracked me one too.

"I'm fine sweetheart." My dad said rubbing his eyes and trying to force a smile.

"Dad I might not have known you all my life but I know when you are hiding something. It's okay to miss her." I said as my dad sighed and took a swig of his beer.

"It would have been her thirteenth year today." My dad said powering down his beer and struggling to keep the tears back. "Another." he said slamming his bottle down on the counter.
