How's this for a time to update? I have one hour before the new year! I hope all of you are doing well! The semester from hell has finally finished and I present to you the next chapter.

Recap so far:

With Tegan brought back to life, Selene and J'onn couldn't be happier. J'onn is especially thrilled with the fact that he now has a son named Edan. Meanwhile Selene has been coming to terms with her new found abilities…and trying to figure out what to do with the men in her life. When Wally finally asks her to marry him she can't say yes fast enough. The first person to hear the happy news is Tegan…who is really Electro Master in disguise. Having driven Tegan out of her own body, the villainous Electro Master plans to raise Edan as his own until such a time he can take over the baby's unique abilities and use them for evil.

Meanwhile Tegan, in the body of a teenager named James, struggles to navigate her new life and reconnect with her old one. Having finally made contact with Selene, Tegan can only hope that it's not too late to defeat Electro Master once and for all to reclaim her life and her body…

Selene stared down at the glowing screen of her phone not quite able to believe the conversation she had just had. A man, a deep voiced member of the opposite sex, had just called her and tried to convince her she was Tegan. Slim fingers tightening around the cell phone, Selene thought back to the past few weeks. It was impossible to believe…it should have been impossible to believe but with all the craziness of the past few months and the odd way Tegan had been acting with her and J'onn.

Setting the phone down on the bedside table, Selene's first thought was to contact J'onn. Almost instantly she nixed the idea. If the Tegan who was here was really someone else there was a very real chance they'd hurt Edan once they were found out. Laying back down Selene tried to close her eyes but soon found herself staring at the ceiling. Idly she stroked Wally's arm which had found its way around her waist.

The man had asked her to meet him at a coffee shop in downtown Freemont, a suburb of Central City. It would be safe enough if it turned out to be a hoax but Selene still felt nervous. If this was truly Tegan how on earth were they going to make things right?

"Abby, I need you to drop me in town." Tegan's voice filled the small car and her "girlfriend" slowed down the car as she turned to glare.

Shaking her blonde hair Abbey said firmly, "Sorry baby but I can't do that; you've already missed too many days of school because of the accident. If you miss anymore days then you'll jeopardize all of our graduation plans!"

Irritation was all that Tegan could feel. She needed to get into town if she was going to somehow meet Selene. There was no way her "adult" friend could meet her at the high school. And there was no way that she could ask Selene to meet her at her new, and hopefully temporary, home. Beatrice would blow a gasket. Abbey had been Tegan's only hope of getting in touch with her friend...legally anyways. As Abby pulled into the school parking lot Tegan bit her bottom lip. If she were still Wildfire she wouldn't hesitate with what she was about to do.

Once the car was parked, Tegan undid her seatbelt and reached over and slid her hand into Abby's hair to cup the back of her head. The smile on Abby's face was frozen when Tegan tightened her hand and slammed her head forward against the steering wheel. There was a loud crack and Tegan cringed, she had used too much force. Nervously she caught Abby as she slid sideways towards her and Tegan was relieved to see that there was no blood and she was still breathing. Guilt warred with victory as Tegan gingerly moved the other girl into the backseat. Minutes later she was driving out of the school parking lot.

"What's the matter West? It's not like you to look so down in the dumps."

Wally stood at the table in the forensic lab of the Central City Police Department. When he wasn't fighting crime the old fashioned way he could be found here hard at work uncovering the evidence needed to close cases. Most days he loved his work but today he found no joy in analyzing the bloodstains on a carpet sample. Looking up from the microscope Wally found his friend, detective Dillon Mitchell, standing in the doorway.

Rubbing a hand over his red hair, Wally frowned slightly, "I dunno man, I think I just miss my girl." He hesitated for a moment before confessing, "We just got engaged."

Dillion's face split into a wide smile. "Really man? Congratulations; I'm sure your fiancée is more exciting to be with than whatever it is that you've got there."

"You got that right," Wally grumbled. Stepping back from the table he asked, "So how can I help you? Are you bringing evidence for the Clenddon Case?"

At the mention of the Clenddon Case Dillion's lips tightened. Ariel Clenddon had been a bright fifteen year old girl who had recently been murdered. Dillion was sure that the girl's stepfather was responsible but so far the forensic evidence was inconclusive. Regretfully Dillion shook his head. "Unfortunately not…I'm just here to let you know that there's a reporter going through interviewing people from every department. She's doing a piece for the Central City Times."

Wally thanked his friend for the head's up and went back to work. Less than ten minutes later there was a soft knock on the lab door. Looking up Wally had to force his jaw not to drop. The most stunning woman he had ever seen stood in the doorway. Thick black hair spilled over shoulders that were encased in a form fitting blazer. Her delicate features alluded to Asian ancestry and Wally's mouth went dry at the legs that disappeared into the rather short skirt.

The superhero's first reaction was to pour out the charm; it's what he would have done had he been single. As a newly engaged man, Wally instead smiled politely. "You're the reporter from the Times aren't you?"

The woman nodded and stepped into the room, hand outstretched. In a professional tone she introduced herself, "That's right, my name is Linda Parker. You're Wally West correct?"

Wally nodded with a smile. "Yeah, that's me." Pausing to sweep a hand out towards the lab he asked enthusiastically, "So what do you wanna know about first?"

"Actually Mr. West," Linda said as she flipped open her small notebook. "I was hoping you could tell me what it is your girlfriend…" she paused to look down at her notes. "Selene Samaras found when she went to the Wildfire Memorial a few weeks ago."

The reporter smirked as Wally's mouth dropped. First reactions were crucial. Struggling to make his face blank Wally said weakly, "What are you talking about?"

Eyes narrowing Linda said, "I think you know exactly what I'm talking about Mr. West. The Wildfire Memorial, created to commemorate the villainess turned heroine mysteriously went out. When you look through the footage of the location your girlfriend is seen arriving shortly after."

Wally shook his head. "Look, I don't know what it is you're trying to imply but you better get out of here. I'm busy working."

"This could go a lot easier if you just answered my questions Mr. West." Linda warned as she pocketed her notebook. "Otherwise…I'll be forced to use other methods to find the answers."

Annoyed by the threat Wally crossed his arms. "Go ahead, but you won't get anything from either of us. Now if you'll excuse me, I have work to do." Pointedly he looked away and moved back to the microscope. Hearing the door close the speedster wondered what exactly Linda Parker stood to gain with her story.

Selene stood outside the coffee shop and felt as though every nerve in her body were on edge. Her eyes searched the inside of the store through the glass window front, hoping for some clue as to who had been the caller from the night before. The small shop was only half full, a couple in one corner…what looked to be like a down on his luck writer in the other. Scanning the rest of the patrons Selene froze when her eyes met those of a young man who was sitting beside the window. A steaming cup sat before him and his hands were wrapped around it. His blonde hair was thick and was brushed backwards exposing high cheekbones, a full mouth, and straight nose.

A smile tipped the boy's lips up as he lifted the cup to his mouth. Tongue darting out to touch her suddenly dry lips, Selene reached out her mind. Moments later she was touching his thoughts and images swept through her. An involuntary cry slipped from her lips and Selene felt herself falling to her knees. Vaguely she was aware of people coming around her but all she could see were things that only Tegan knew about or could have experienced. Overwhelmed by the emotions Selene reached up with trembling hands and touched her temples trying hard to focus. She pulled up a mental shield and surrounded herself in a bubble of silence.

A hand touched her face and Selene's eyes, which had closed in an effort to block the onslaught of memories and emotions, shot open. She found herself staring into the boy's face…into Tegan's face. "I can't believe it…It's really you."

Amused by her friend's reaction, Tegan helped Selene to her feet and said dryly, "I can't believe you actually believed that imposter is me!" Turning her stunned friend towards the coffee shop she continued with a pout, "You're my best friend and a mind reader! How the hell didn't you know it wasn't me?"

"It's not my fault," Selene protested weakly as they sat down at the table Tegan had been at. "Whoever's in your body has strong mental defenses! J'onn and I haven't been able to read anything off of them." She paused, drinking in her friend's new features. "How on earth did you end up in the body of a guy? You look so young."

Taking a sip of her coffee Tegan groaned and gave a brief rundown of the events that had occurred between her return to life and being forced from her body. "I feel so naked without my fire," she confessed. "It feels strange not to be able do anything out of the ordinary."

Selene reached over and put her hand over Tegan's. "It's alright," she said gently. "We'll get your body back soon enough."

Tegan made a noncommittal noise under her breath. After a moment of silence she asked softly, "How…how are J'onn and Edan?"

"Edan is adorable," Selene said with a smile. "He really just lights up the room whenever I go over to visit." She paused for a moment and then continued in a slightly slower tone. "J'onn….on the other hand…he's been miserable. He doesn't know it's not you but he senses something is off and he's worried you won't pull through it."

It was all Tegan could do to keep the ridiculous grin off of her face. It was embarrassing enough that her heart had sped up at Selene's words. Instead she smirked. "Good, he should feel miserable for not realizing it's me." After downing the rest of her coffee she said, "Now that we're on the same page how am I going to get close to J'onn?"

There was silence from Selene. There was no way that Tegan could just reappear in J'onn's apartment. Electro Master would go ballistic. They'd have to get…creative. Smiling sympathetically she said, "Don't worry...we'll figure something out."

Electro Master woke up to the feel of something stroking his head. Without thinking he let out a small satisfied moan and mumbled, "Mmm that feels good."

"That is good to know," J'onn murmured, his voice alarmingly close to Electro Master's ear.

Immediately Electro Master stiffened and made a motion to move away but J'onn's arm slid over his waist trapping the villain against the warm and apparently naked body of his "husband". Opening his eyes Electro Master only had moments to brace himself for the impact of J'onn's mouth against his own. While his body clearly enjoyed the ministrations of the Martian, Electro Master could only feel a mixture of disgust and annoyance.

Thankfully, Edan's thin cry warbled in. Eagerly Electro Master pushed J'onn off and slid of bed, rubbing his arms to fight off the sudden chill, he made his way into the next room where his soon-to-be vessel lay. Edan's little green face was quickly turning purple as he cried from both hunger and discomfort. Electro Master made a face as he lifted the baby from his crib and moved him onto the changing table that J'onn had brought home a few days before.

As he removed the dirty diaper J'onn came into the room, thankfully with the sheet wrapped around him. When Electro Master glanced at him the Martian asked, "Is there any way I can assist you?"

"You can prepare his bottle," Electro Master replied, smoothing diaper rash crème over Edan's delicate skin. Leaning over to grab a clean onesie his eyes caught sight of the clock on the wall. It was after nine a.m. "Shouldn't you be at work?"

Looking slightly uncomfortable J'onn nodded. "Yes. I was granted the day off by my superior." Seeing Electro Master's horrified expression J'onn continued softly, "It is my understanding that it is a custom on earth for the parents of newborns to be freed from work obligations so that they may experience a time of bonding."

The only thing we'll be bonding is my fist to your face if you try to put your hands on me again,Electro Master thought silently as he picked up the now clean and dressed Edan. "Sounds thrilling," he said flatly.

The trio made their way into the kitchen and living room area. Electro Master sat down on the couch facing away from J'onn and found himself smiling down at the little bundle in his arms. He felt a moment of pure satisfaction. This plan of his was brilliant. In the time it took the brat to grow, Electro Master would learn all the weaknesses of the so called Justice League. As soon as he claimed Edan's body for himself he would bring the self righteous group to their knees and destroy them one by one. At that moment J'onn appeared with a warm bottle. Electro Master took it and tried not to flinch as their fingers touched. Putting the bottle to Edan's lips he sneered inwardly, the first one I'll kill. I'll make him regret the day he kissed me.

Abby's eyes fluttered open and she let out a soft moan at the pulsating ache in her head. Gingerly she reached up and probed the offending area. Abby winced as the pain became more intense. Squinting she was surprised, and slightly frightened, to realize that she was in James' room. She had only been in here once before, the first time they had made love but her surroundings were unmistakable. Mrs. Novak, James' mother, had decorated the room in various shades of blue and most of the decorations had a nautical theme. Abby remembered James mentioning on several occasions how much he hated the theme and wishing he could change it.

A movement to her right caught Abby's attention and when she turned her head she found James standing near the closet, flipping through the hangers. The young girl felt a shiver of fear run through her as she stared at her boyfriend's back. Never in a million years would she have suspected James, one of the sweetest people she knew, to be capable of inflicting damage on her. Terrified of what might happen next Abby let out an involuntary whimper and slowly sat up.

James turned around; arms folded across his chest and frowned when he saw her. "You're awake."

Abby trembled slightly and nervously touched a hand to her throat. "W-What are you going to do to me? Haven't you done enough?"

To her surprise James laughed. "So dramatic! I don't want to do anything to you," he confessed as he walked over to her. Abby shrank back slightly as James sat on the edge of the bed and reached out to touch her forehead. She hissed in pain as his fingers touched the tender area. Abby met his eyes and was surprised to see him look so contrite. "I'm really sorry about this," James said. "I probably could have been a little less drastic with my methods."

"You hurt me," Abby blurted out in response. Tears filled her eyes and she continued tearfully, "How could you do something like that to me? Is this because of Mark?"

James shook his head. "I had to do it for reasons I can't explain to you right now." Nodding at the room he continued, "I brought you here to make sure you'd be alright when you woke up. Do you want me to take you to the hospital?"

The girl shook her head feeling more confused than she had in her life. "I don't understand what's going on! James, did something happen while you were in the hospital?"

"A lot happened." James replied as he looked away from her. There were several long beats of silence before he continued in a pained tone, "I…I lost the two people who mean most to me in this world. I'll do whatever's necessary to get back to them."

"But we're right here!" Abby cried out in frustration as all the fear she had been feeling melted away. "Your mother has been by your side since the day of the accident and d-despite my slip with Mark I've been there too!" Before James could reply, Abby scooted forward on the bed and wrapped her arms around the boy she loved, the only one she ever would. "If you can't see it," she said in a trembling but determined tone, "Then I'll have to make you see it!"

Tegan managed to let out a squeak as Abby's mouth touched hers. She braced herself for the onslaught of passion but was surprised when the other girl pulled away after only a moment. A flush rose up on her cheeks when she saw the tears glistening in Abby's eyes.

Brushing the tears away Abby whispered, "Can't you see how much I care about you?"

Not even destroying cities made Tegan feel as guilty as these words just did. She hadn't cared at all about how the decisions she was making would affect Beatrice or Abby. Tegan touched a hand to her chest absently. James was gone, she was sure of it. There was nothing left of him in this body and if she were successful in regaining her own body…the memory of how happy Beatrice had looked that day when Tegan had woken up in the hospital filled her mind.

Losing James a second time would most likely destroy Beatrice.

"James?" Abby's voice brought back Tegan. She looked down at the other girl and her guilt tripled. Abby reached up and touched her cheek gently. "You're crying."

Tegan reached up and touched her face, surprised at the wetness she felt. How long had it been since the last time she cried? Sighing she placed her other hand over Abby's and gave it a squeeze. Tegan had never been one to act sweet but for the sake of the girl whose heart she was going to break she made an effort. "I…ah…I'm sorry. For hurting you earlier." And for how I'm going to hurt you later she added silently.

Abby's face turned pink and she looked down. "I still don't understand the situation compeltely but I'll forgive you…Just this once."

"I'll never do that again," Tegan said solemnly. "I swear it."

Looking satisfied Abby nodded and scooted off the bed. "I shouldn't be in here alone with you," she said primly. "People will talk if they find out."

Tegan rolled her eyes. She had never met a more confusing person in her life. Abby was a prudish as they got; how the hell had she "cheated" on James? Almost afraid to find out, Tegan stood up and looped her arm around Abby's shoulders. "C'mon, I'll take you home."

J'onn sat in his room feeling as though a heavy weight had been lashed to his shoulders. Wildfire…Tegan…the woman he had come to love with all of his heart was gone. Something had happened to her when she disappeared in the flames. Whatever it was had changed her into something unrecognizable. Recalling how she had pushed away from him earlier at Edan's cries, J'onn cringed. Knowing that he was causing her some type of pain hurt the Martian more than words could describe.

The Martian's thoughts were pushed aside by his cell phone ringing. Clearing his throat J'onn stood up and walked over to his dresser where the phone lay charging. Picking it up he answered, "John Jones."

Selene's voice came over the other end. "J'onn! It's me, are you home? I need to speak with Tegan and you guys don't have a landline."

"Ah…yes." J'onn left the bedroom and took the phone to Tegan who had a strange expression on her face as she stared down at the baby.

Making a disinterested noise Tegan took the phone from him. After a moment she shook her head. "No. Absolutely not." There was a beat of silence and J'onn watched as the expression on Tegan's face became one of anger. "Fine," she gritted out. "I'll be ready." Hanging up Tegan pulled Edan closer to her and told J'onn sullenly, "Selene requires me to join her for a girl's night. Perhaps you can watch Edan since you took the day off."

J'onn nodded. "Yes, it will be a pleasure to spend an evening with our son." He hesitated for a moment. "Do you require any special items for this girl's night you will be partaking in?"

Tegan mumbled something about needing a gun before standing up and leaving the room with Edan. Sighing, J'onn made his way to the door, his customary outfit appearing on his body. He would wait in the watchtower until it was time to take care of Edan.

Wally clocked out for the day and left the police station. Once he was sure that no one was around he used his abilities and was at his apartment in less than a minute. Eagerly he flung open the front door and declared, "Hey babe, I'm back! You won't believe what happened at work."

A moment later he heard the sound of the bathroom door opening and Selene sashayed into the room wearing a slinky, backless dress and fastening some earrings. Wally let out a low whistle, all previous thoughts gone from his mind. "Looks like I got home just in time."

Finishing with the earring Selene gave a small smile. "Sorry Wally but I'm about to head out with Tegan."

"That sounds fun," Wally said as he zipped by into the kitchen and began putting together a sandwich. He was slightly disappointed that she would be going out but it would be just as fun taking the clothes off of her when she returned home. "What are you guys going to do?"

Selene slid on some shoes she had by the door and sighed. "I don't know…I need to do something that will last more than a couple of hours."

Noticing the grim look on Selene's face, Wally frowned slightly. "You don't look too excited about going out. What's wrong?"

A flush rose up on Selene's face and she looked away before saying hastily, "What makes you think something's wrong? You know how much fun Tegan and I have when we go out."

Crossing his arms Wally said, "You really gotta work on your lying skills babe, that was terrible." He held back a grin as Selene's face went from shocked to frustrated. She should know better than to try and lie to him of all people. He didn't survive half of his situations with aliens by being truthful. Moving over to her, Wally put his hands on her shoulders and gave them a squeeze. "You and I are getting married now; you can tell me anything."

"I know," Selene replied as she relaxed under his hands. She moved forward so that her arms could fit around his waist and she rested her head on his shoulder. "I just can't tell you what's going on just yet."

Kissing Selene's forehead Wally said, "Alright." He pulled back slightly. "I'll be here when you're ready."

Selene smiled at him; because she wore heels her mouth was level with Wally's. Easily she leaned forward and brushed her lips against his. The kiss prolonged for several long moments and Selene pressed closer to her fiancée. Wally's hands moved down her back and Selene was lost in the sensations that he brought up in her. Reluctantly she pushed away from him and walked backwards towards the door.

After she had waved goodbye Wally zoomed through the apartment and in two minutes was showered, dressed and with a sandwich in hand. Stepping out through the front door the speedster set out after his fiancée. Selene could have her girl's night but there was nothing to say that he couldn't go out for a little relaxing. If it happened to be at the same place she went, well, stranger things hand happened.

What'd you guys think? I'm really eager to get to the next chapter because I am more than ready to reunite J'onn and Tegan! And do you think that Selene will sit quietly during her girl's night with Electro Master? What'll he do when he discovers he's been found out?
