A/N: There's a really long A/N at the end. If you don't usually read A/N please read it ok? Ok on with the story.

I stood outside our school next to Sollux. It only took a week for Sollux to get transferred back here and out of online school. It was his first day back. It was weird, I was still mad at him but a lot less than I had been. Also it had been a week after the anniversary oftheir deaths and I wasn't as depressed as I thought I was going to be. Sollux had helped a lot and I hadn't had the nightmare yet. Sollux stared up at the school as it loomed over us.

"Over a year…" he whispered.

"Yeah," I replied even though I knew he wasn't looking for an answer. "Ready?" I asked

"Nope." We both knew there was going to be a scene with him and Feferi, no doubt about it. He was nervous, he should be, but it was getting late and we needed to go in.

"Let's go then," I said, dragging him by his arm.

"Thtop KK!" he said and I let go and he followed me.

"She'th gonna be tho mad."

"Of course she is and she has every right to be," I said. Had to keep it real, it wasn't going to be easy for him. "So mad it's gonna be hard to believe."

"Thanks," he said, rolling his eyes. "Oh and KK?"

"Yeah?"

"Why don't you thwear anymore?" I knew he was going to ask at some point.

"Oh," I said. This was bound to be weird to explain. "You see, Nepeta never liked it when I cursed. I knew she didn't like it but I always did it anyway. Now she's, uh, gone I feel like I shouldn't. Ironic in a way." I shrugged, "I guess I've just stopped."

We walked really slowly up the stairs. "I didn't go to school all last week," I said casually.

"Why?"

I shrugged. "Kankri said it was fine and my dad doesn't need to know. Kankri said it could help me or something." We made it to the door. "Ready?" I asked again.

"Ready as I'll ever be," he said with a sigh and I pushed the door open. He pushed his glasses on more as we walked down the empty hallway. Soon I knew more people would be there. Class hadn't started yet. I almost asked him why he had those glasses, they were weird, but then we heard people in the halls up a head. I held my head up high and thought this is how it should have been the whole time. Sollux and I shared a glance really fast then turned the corner into the hall.

When we walked in, everyone stopped talking. They all stared at him like they had never expected him to come back, which I guess they hadn't. The hallway seemed to part down the middle like the Red Sea and let us walk while people stared at him. I rolled my eyes at their stares and kept walking. They started whispering almost instantly. The hallway seemed suddenly ten times longer than before and it also seemed like we were walking in slow motion. Sollux stared straight ahead ignoring everyone else. Feferi's locker was at the end and she hadn't noticed. Sollux saw her and started walking faster. She turned around and dropped her binder and stared at us. I backed away from Sollux in the least awkward possible and watched the scene unfold.

"Sollux," she whispered. I could tell how shocked she was.

"Hey FF," he said quietly. In a moment she was next to him, her arms wrapped around him. He seemed a little taken aback and stumbled back a bit.

"Oh my God, I hate you!" she yelled "I hate you, I hate you, I hate you!" she was still holding tightly on to him as if afraid to let him go again. She started whispering, tears streaming down her face "My God, I hate you."

Everyone was staring at them and the whispering had stopped. The two of them seemed to no longer see anyone else. It was them and only them.

Sollux ran his hand though her hair slowly "It'th ok FF." he said softly. "It'th ok."

"No it's not," she said bitterly. "You're a liar and I hate you!"

He sighed and kept hugging her. "It'th going to be better soon FF."

"Where have you been? Sollux why did you leave me?" she looked up at him. He was taller than her by a few inches. "Why did you come back now?"

"Becauthe of KK." Then all eyes turned to me, and I just shrugged like it was something I did all the time. "Come on FF. Let'th go."

"We can't just leave."

He shrugged his shoulders. "Why not?" They both stood there in silence in the middle of the hall "Come on FF. We've got to go. I have a lot of explaining to do."

"You think?" she snapped. Then she sighed and slumped down a bit in his arms.

"Let'th leave," he said softly. She looked around. They couldn't really just leave mostly because everyone heard them talking about it. I didn't doubt they could sneak out undetected otherwise easily.

"How?"

He smirked, "I've got my ways."

She broke away from him. "Fine. Let's go." She crossed her arms and walked ahead of him down the hall. He followed her. I knew they would find a way to work it out. As soon as they left everyone started talking at once, just like I knew they would. For the rest of the day they were all anyone talked about. Even those who hadn't witnessed it heard about it soon. How Sollux had shown up, Feferi flipped out, then the basically said 'see you later' and left.

During lunch I sat in my usual place and no one bothered me. I pulled out my phone and turned on Pesterchum.

CG: WHERE ARE YOU?

TA: place2

Basically Sollux was no help at all. Even though I still sat alone it felt better, like something was changing. Still got looks yet they seemed, for the most part, less hateful. I thought about whatever Sollux was doing, making sure Feferi was ok and not wanting to kill him. They'd work it out just like in the movies.

They always did.

It was last period and I didn't have any other messages from Sollux or Feferi. The teacher had just assigned some homework and left it at that. The whole class was talking and gossiping. I had my phone out and wasn't doing anything when someone walked over to my desk.

"So," Vriska said, "what have you done now?"

"What do you want Vriska?" I said, leaning back a bit in my chair and looking at her. "Also I have no idea what you mean."

"Don't give me that." Leaning on my desk, looking at me as though I had done something wrong. "You know what I mean. Not only did you bring Captor back but it seems like you completely messed up Feferi and got the whole school talking about it. Not only that but," she started whispering, "you complete messed up Terezi too!" I glanced at Terezi in the back of the class.

"I haven't done anything to Terezi. I don't even care about her anymore," the last part was a lie. The first part, however, was very true. I hadn't talked to her all day. Actually, thinking about it, I hadn't talked to her since she bumped into me in the hall, which seemed a few lifetimes ago. Even after all this I still wanted to go over and talk to her, make things alright.

"Well she's acting weird and I blame you Vantas!" Vriska spat out. "I'll find out whatever you did to my best friend!"

"I thought Kanaya was your best friend." God I was strangely cocky today.

"Fine, maybe not best friend. Maybe not that much of 'friend,' but I'll find out anyway. Mostly because you're messing with Dave by messing with Terezi," I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever. Do what you will Vriska."

"Whatever you've done now Vantas, You've gone against some unwritten laws of life. Everything up to this point was fate and luck Vantas. It was all luck of the draw or meant to happen."

I scoffed, "fate?"

"Yes! It was all meant to happen, all planned out."

I stood up, just to show her it was getting more intense. "Really? They were supposed to die?"

She stopped short, like no one was allowed to mention that, even though she had several times before. "They were supposed to die at the age of 16? They were supposed to be murdered?" she looked up at me. "And I was supposed to have to watch it happen? I was supposed to do nothing!" I was getting louder and people we're glancing. What a day it was for my peers. I'd been putting on a show. "And after all that Vriska, I'm not supposed to make things better? You're just mad thing aren't going as planned. Maybe fate decided you don't always get your way. Sorry Vriska. I'm going to try to make my life better, and frankly I don't care what happens to you."

She stared at me for a few silent moments. "I don't care Vantas. I'm going to make you pay," she said quietly.

"Last time someone said that Aradia beat the crap out of you. Don't you remember that? After you're LARPing incident?"

"Shut up Karkat! Shut up, shut up shut up!" She was practically yelling at me.

"So you're allowed to talk about the time all my friends died but I'm not allowed to talk about bad things that happened to you? I can't talk about the times your luck ran out?" I could still remember that day. Aradia found Tavros with a black eye and bruises up and down his eyes. After she found out Vriska was responsible and had been doing it for a while she flipped out. I wasn't there for the whole fight but I was there to hear her whisper, 'I'm going to make her pay.' I was there right after the fight helping Sollux literally pulling Aradia off Vriska and leaving an almost passed out Vriska in the field outside the school. As we were leaving Aradia smiled and said 'well that was fun,' and that was the only time I was truly terrified of a 14 year old.

"Vantas you can't make your life better. You're too far under." With that Vriska stormed off, angry I'd won.

A/N: Ok longish A/N. Where do I begin? Ok first off, why this wasn't posted on Wednesday. There have been around 3-4 chapters I have literally almost wrote/wrote that I have cut out of this story because they didn't fit in right, I didn't like them, were too long, or I just couldn't make them work no matter how hard I tried. The three major ones were the chapter about the dance they had which I mention a few times that takes place a few weeks before the 'accident', the chapter I mention in here called 'Make her pay' where Aradia beat the crap out of Vriska, and another that took Place in between 'On Top of a Hill' and "The Darkest of Times' which was about Dave, Vriska, Terezi and all the other which could be considered antagonists and what they did on the anniversary . I liked it a lot but the problem is I'm trying to make this all from Karkat's point of view and I couldn't find a good way to see what was going on with those guys from first person. So I cut it out. Now the other two chapters I've cut I've found ways to make it work out well with the story(there was also this weird sub plot about Mituna I cut out almost completely) but I literally could not think of a way to make Dave and Vriska something other than total bad guys. While busy working on that I didn't have time to add the whole "make her pay' part in this chapter. So this was posted on Sunday. Next week it will defiantly ONLY be out on Sunday because I'm still working on the last chapter because I'm actually spiting in into two chapters now (yay more chapters for you guys). I have little time to work on this story because I'm working on 'The Month of Love', a really fun project but it takes up all my writing time.

One other thing. If you haven't noticed or have never read any of my other stories, I never curse in any of them. I feel like I sort of owed you guys and explanation on to why Karkat never cursed in this story but really couldn't think of a good one so I just said he knew Nepeta never liked in, which I know is not cannonly true. The real reason is I have no problem with cursing, I don't do it much but I'm fine with others doing it, but I have a friend who hates it. She loves Homestuck to death and manged to read though the cursing but she doesn't really like it at all. I write most of these stories not only for fun or for fanfiction, but because she loves reading fanfiction and stuff I write. So the lack of cursing is for her sack, not mine. Thanks for understanding.

Ok overly long A/N. Sorry! Favorite, review, or whatever you want. New one next Sunday!
