Pokemon: The Dark Saga: Chapter 8: Roxanne
(Be honest, how many of you thought I wouldn't hold true to my promise? Also, the previous chapter was simply a warm-up because I haven't written anything in a while. This one will be longer and have more effort put into it.)
Roxanne took a pokeball from her pocket and smirked.
"So far all of the battles you've had have been fairly on your terms, sometimes even purely so. Is this correct?"
I nodded.
"You could say that. Oh, why am I being modest? Of course. I never walk out of a battle without making my opponent my bitch."
I had my hand hovering on my belt, trying to decipher which pokemon would be most beneficial to call out first.
Roxanne chuckled a bit, stepping on a button that was next to her foot.
"Well, if you manage to come out on top in this battle, you will have to adapt to fighting on my terms."
After she finished talking the floor split apart and from underneath it rose a rocky battlefield.
"As you can no doubt tell from the trainers in my employ, this gym is centric around using the Rock type," she continued, tossing her pokeball up and down in her hand, "so naturally we will do battle in an arena that gives my pokemon the advantage."
I took all this in, examining the battlefield closely.
"I see... that was how the gym leaders were in Johto. I've decided to conform to the rules of every gym, or else risk being banished from this region. Now are we gonna do this, or are you just gonna keep showing off and bragging?"
Roxanne nodded.
"You're right, I spent too long explaining myself. Alright Geodude, it's time to show him how hard we rock!"
She threw her pokeball and her Geodude immediately tried to blend in with the rocks. It seemed that this was always their strategy. I required no thought to think of throwing Wingull into the battle.
Wingull hovered in the air after I threw it's pokeball into the battle.
"Keep your eye out, your opponent's hiding amongst the rocks."
Wingull nodded, appearing more alert.
"Before it finds you, use Rock Throw!" Roxanne ordered her Geodude. The pokemon obeyed, picking up a rock nearby it and hurling it into the air towards Wingull.
"Quick, get out of the way," I ordered, completely calm. Wingull managed to evade the rock by quickly flapping out of the way. The moment after it did this I ordered it to go for a Water Gun. It then blasted a stream of water at the rock pokemon, forcing it to jump out of it's hiding spot.
Roxanne looked impressed.
"Though I question your methods, the resulting bond your pokemon has with you is rather remarkable. It's able to follow your orders flawlessly... okay Geodude, use- WHAT?"
Her Geodude was already knocked out, having been blasted by a critical hit Water Gun while she was talking. I smirked.
"This is what you get for talking in the middle of a battle. Don't think I won't do it again."
Roxanne sighed.
"Of course... I should know not to let my guard down."
She called her Geodude back and took out her second pokeball.
"I should've mentioned this before, but one rule of this gym is that the challenger has to switch their pokemon out if they defeat one of my own. It gives me a chance to assess your team."
I sighed.
"That's annoying. Guess I don't have a choice though."
I called Wingull back and took out Ralts's pokeball. It would be foolish to bring Torchic out against Rock types.
"You ready?"
Roxanne nodded and the two of us both threw our pokeballs onto the field at the same time. The pokemon that came out of her pokeball was yet another Geodude. It hid like the other, but I knew Ralts could tell where it was by where she was looking.
"This shouldn't be a problem..."
(Next time on the Dark Saga.)
