Chapter 19 – Night
Father put his arms around my shoulder and walked towards the tree. We sat under the tree and looked at the round moon shinning brightly in the sky. According to the elves it would be new moon tomorrow which means the first day of my journey. Father looked at me and gave me a warm smile.
"What are you thinking about? So, tell me what you wanted to tell me?"
"Father, I knew that Aragon felt sorry for asking me to go to the Dark Forest with him the other night. He is still not forgiving himself. He is afraid that I will hate him. I knew it in his eyes."
"Yes, he is. He told me that he could not forgive himself. I told him to forget about it as I know that you will forgive him. Won't you, Legolas?" said Father
I nod my head. After all, Aragon is my friend. I took out the charm father and mother gave me. I show it to father. I saw the beautiful green charm shinning. The one mother gave me. It was brighter than the day before. What does it mean? Father looked at me and smile when I asked him about it. Father took me to the tree nearby. I don't understand. What does it got to do with the charm Mother gave me. Father took me to the huge Elven tree. The tallest, the biggest tree in Mirkwood. Father then told me that it was Mother's favourite tree because it had saved her life when she encountered some orcs before she met him. Today is Mother's birthday. Father did not told me before as I was still young and that he felt that I am not ready. Now that I am ready he will tell me everything. Mother was very brave. She was fighting with an orc when Father found her. The surrounding in Middle earth was different from now. When Father was in Doriath, he met Mother fighthing with an orc. She was brave. She used just arrows and bows without any company. Father saw what happened and went to help her. That's was when Father fell in love with Mother and brought her to Mirkwood. The charm will glow when there will be something I found related to mother.
"Your mum had left a lot of things for you before she left but she had not a chance to tell me what is it or where is. So, its up to you to find it."
"But how do I know what is it?"
"It will glow with the charm you are wearing. Why don't you go and rest? You will travel tomorrow."
I bid goodnight to Father and held onto the rope near the castle. I gave it a tug and the rope went up. I jumped into my room and left my weapons in the cupboard. I lie in my bed looking out of my window and saw the stars and moon shinning brightly. Isn't it fun to be with mother nature. Everything is natural and the air is fresher. I couldn't sleep so I took a rest and went to my self and took out some books Father gave me to read. I was thinling about the jouney. Will Gandalf be following us? It would be much more safer for we do not know what we might encounter. Soon my eyelids felt heavy and I fell asleep on my bed leaving the book on my bed.
