Third Person With Lily and James They were walking out to that tree where James had told Lily about his summer. Last night James Potter had admitted he fell in love with Lily Evens. Not shocking. The shock was her saying she had fallen for him. Ah young love. When they got to the tree, James asked, "Lily I understand that last night I pretty much forced you to kiss me. I understand if you think my answer to your question was just me saying something in the heat of the moment. I understand if what you said after I answered was just you saying something in the heat of the moment. I don't want you to think that you have to be with me now. It's your choice Lily, but I meant what I said. I will always mean that, but it's your decision." Lily didn't know what to say. She believed what James said, and she meant what she said. The only thing standing in her way was fear. Fear that made her entire body run cold. She was falling hard for this boy, but she also knew that James wanted to be an auror. He would be risking his life every single day. She also knew that he was going to join the Order as soon as he graduated. Dumbledore had talked to both of them about joining. James was determined to join. Lily knew his reasons. She was the only one who knew his reasons. That's what scared her. What was planted in her mind was the image of her waking up with him dead because of the war. She wanted to be with him. She already knew she loved him, but her wanted was overpowered by fear. "James, I believe you when you say you meant what you said. James I meant what I said. I also am very amazed how you told me that it was my choice. Many guys wouldn't give a girl the choice. James I want with all my heart to be with you. Every single day. James I love you, but I'm terrified. We are at war. As soon as we graduate, we are going to be fighting. I know your dream is to give your all at this, and to be honest I want to to. I want you to understand that I really do love you, and that will never change. James the only thing holding me back is the fear of waking up and you not being there." Lily had tears streaming by the time she stopped talking. She didn't know how James would take that. She thought he would be mad and leave, but he did the exact opposite. He hugged her. He understood what she was telling him. She was scared, and she had a good reason to be. He wanted what was best for her, even if it was painful for him. "Lily look at me." She did as asked. She was able to make out his eyes and face through the tears. "Lily if you aren't ready for this or if you will never be ready, I understand. You have every right to be scared. I want what's best for you." She nodded, but something was different. After telling him her fears and watching him respond. She realized. Yes they were at war. She began to think if I never even try to get past the fear, and we end up dying. Loving him won't be worth it. She knew that while this would have many trials, it would be worth it in the end. She look him directly in the eye and said, "I'm ready."
