Chapter 7: The Oceanic Benefactor
Northern Ocean, Oakenvale
Fridas, 68th of Summerset
POV: Eridan
The waves. What a wonderful sound. If it wasn't so ANNOYING! We had travelled for 3 days through a unending sea of boring BLUE! I couldn't even practice battle, due to the fact the ships systems could fail. I say systems, but they work on coal engines. The ship was made of pure metal, and with these primitive systems it would sink. However, their was a group of mages that saw to a cushioning spell.
Arnor walked up from behind. He tapped me on the shoulder. I turned to greet him, but his look concerned me.
"What is it?" I asked.
"The forces of Silverwind have an Elite guard. This guard is known as The Flame Legion, and they happen to be directly in our path."
Sure enough, right before the checking port, was a group of soldiers. Their armor was deep orange, and both their pauldrons and helms where styled like flames. It looked like their group of 200 some, only had swords and shields. Must have been standard issue. They checked every ship. As I saw a merchants ship stopped, and him arrested, I began to worried. Within the barrels where weapons. They somehow knew.
"Turn the ship to the west. They will sense us. We must go." I roared to the Captain.
"Sorry sir, they are already beckoning to us and requesting that we lower the invisibility spell."
How? No matter. It was a fight they looked for, and so a fight is what they will get.
"To arms! To arms! Arm the ballista, and fire!" Arnor roared. He had his rapier drawn, and looked stressed.
The crew began to fire all ballista at the port. Explosions and havoc roared to life. But the Flame legion stood untouched. They where in a formation, block like, swords to their sides and shields forward. A Phalanx. The phalanx opened, to reveal a Legionnaire with red and gold armor. Their leader. The leader stomped his foot on the ground and punched, destroying a ballista with a ball of flame.
I cursed, and hurled myself over the edge, creating ice so that I can slide to the ground. Two legionnaires came from either side, but I blocked with magic. One had their sword stuck in an arcane barrier, and the other attempted to stab me. I jumped, and he impaled his comrade. In shock, the legionnaire turned and charged, only to be hit with an earth spike, ending him.
Two more legionnaires charged, but where cut off by Arnor. He flourished his blade and bowed, whipped it up again. The first legionnaire charged, sword outstretched, but Arnor was too quick. His rapier when under his opponents armor, and pierced his heart, sending him to the ground. The other legionnaire bashed Arnor in the face, only for me to pick up a sword and throw it through the legionnaire's helm, killing him instantly.
We recovered, only to look around and see our forces being slaughtered by the Flame legion, who had obviously been personally taught.
"Well, well, well. More Valiant here to subjugate us. Not on my watch." The legionnaire in gold and red armor approached.
"I am Captain Agian, wielder of Eagle, second in command to the Flame Legion, gifted by Lord Pheonix with a fraction of his power. I am The Lord of Fire's apprentice. And you two really don't stand a chance. But to add salt to the wound..."
Another man walked forward. He was in dark purple armor. His helm was closed, showing nothing but his eyes, which burned with glory. He had two swords sitting at his side, each a different color, and very much menacing.
"I am Exus. God of War and defender of this Legion. Who are you, to attack those blessed with glory?"
I felt my heart sink. Even if they didn't believe he was the god of war, he emanated power of a like I had never felt. I felt powerful and glorious around him, like I had won the respect of the world through my deeds. And I knew if his positive powers where this evident, I feared to see what the negative powers could do.
"Arnor. Put the sword down." I told him.
He looked cautiously at me, then slowly lowered his weapon. Exus looked at us both, with an expression close to curiosity. What, was this being of power contemplating on how insignificant we where? I felt anger rise up my stomach, and quelled it immediately. Survival meant silence, in this situation.
"You have the air of people come here for a purpose. Not to kill and subjugate, as all others have attempted. Who are you? Why are you here?"
Neither of us responded.
Exus raised his hand. Suddenly, I felt an urge to answer. To tell him about all that had transpired, to tell him all of my fears. All of my goals. I tried to fight it, but it was too strong. I was speaking without even realizing it.
"I am a troll, from Alternia. However, my world was destroyed, so I and a few others left for earth. Now, me, and a few others have been transported here, to this strange world. I came here seeking to capture Silverwind, and return home. To find my friends." To my surprise, I felt relieved.
Arnor too, began to speak.
"I came here to help him. Lord Eridan. And to discover the location of my daughter, who by reports, had been captured by Silverwind Forces. I intended on capturing Silverwind in order to find her."
Exus looked convinced. However, Captain Agian was still angry. He began to withdraw stone shackles, but Exus stopped him.
He sighed. "Given their position on the matter, they are to be contained under their own control within Silverwind until our King returns. To you, Eridan, I say that we have two of your people here. One by the name of Terezi, and the other, Fefiri. They will meet you at the courtyard, within the city. As for you, Arnor. I would require your daughter's name before we would search for her."
"Her name is Katalina."
