It was the academy's graduation day. If you passed today then you would become a genin. You would then be on a 4 man cell with 3 genins and a Jounin.
The first test was a written test. Naruto finished it in an instant and slept. The second test was target practice. Naruto hit all the bulls eye with just a flick of his wrist. The third test was to do a substitution jutsu, henge and to make at least three bunshin. Naruto did it all perfectly then took his hitai-ate and went outside where Shikamaru was waiting.
Naruto and Shikamaru had grown close over the years. They had found out that they had a lot in common. Both were geniuses but naruto showed it whereas Shikamaru hid it. But it didn't matter because the council always did something to fail Naruto. Shikamaru and Naruto also liked watching clouds in their free time. And they also both hated girls.
Naruto kissed Shikamaru through his mask on his cheek causing him to blush. "You did great on the test, Shikamaru."
"I wish I could say the same but I wasn't there."
"No problem. So where do you want to go?"
"How about Ichiraku ramen?"
Naruto nodded his head then they walked to Ichiraku, Naruto's arm around Shikamaru's shoulder and Shikamaru blushing lightly.

Today was the day, the genins and the Jounins would be selected.
Naruto was sitting with Sasuke, the duck-butt haired boy because Yamanaka Ino had decided for the Ino-Shika-Cho to sit together. Shikamaru had given a suffering look to Naruto which had been replaced by a blushing look when Naruto had kissed him on the lips through his mask.
Naruto could feel the glare that was directed towards Shikamaru from Sasuke but everytime he looked towards him, he would just smile at him with heart-shaped eyes. He could also feel the weak glare that was sent by Sakura towards him for sitting next to Sasuke.
Iruka called out the team number and then names of the genins along with their Jounins.
"Team 7, will be Sakura Haruno, Uzumaki Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke. Your Jounin is Hatake Kakashi."
A small sound of complaint came from Naruto. Sasuke just stared at him and Sakura stared at Sasuke.
He could see Shikamaru mouthing that 'he would comfort him later.' Naruto smiled towards him and winked. Shikamaru blushed lightly.
Naruto was still thankful that he got 'The copy-cat ninja' Hatake Kakashi. He was a great ninja and he was also handsome. He could at least have fun with him.
Shikamaru got into a team with Ino and Choji with Sarutobi Asuma as their Jounin instructor, just as they had predicted.
Their another friend Aburame Shino got into a team with Hyuuga Hinata and Inuzuka Kiba. Naruto was introduced to Shino by Shikamaru who seemed to be his childhood friend. He was also a genius and quiet. Shino seemed to talk with body language most of the time and only Naruto and Shikamaru were the ones to read them fluently. Shino also didn't show any emotion. The only one that could make him show any emotion was Naruto. He made him smile and laugh. But most of the time, he made him blush just like he did with Shikamaru.

They were now waiting for Kakashi in an empty classroom. All of their other graduates had already been picked up by their Jounin instructor.
Naruto had known that Kakashi would be at least 2 hours late. He had gone through every ninja files with the help of his clones while the hokage was talking to him when he had arrived.
After 2 hours exactly, the door slid open. A silver haired ninja with his lower face covered with a mask and his hitai-ate covering his left eye, poked his head in. he looked at the genins, two who were glaring at him and one that had a look that said that he was expecting him to be late.
He stared at the last one. He had long blonde hair that was tied loosely and his left fringe was swept back and kept there with black pins, his right fringe covered his right eye. He also had half of his face covered with a mask. He was wearing a dark red shirt that was unbuttoned to show the black fish-net shirt. He had on a white pant that was tucked into his black combat boots. He was also wearing a chain that had nine pieces of glass that had something written on it. He had on fingerless gloves with metal on the knuckles, which would turn into spikes when chakra were added. His hitai-ate was tied tilted around his waist.
He was bought out of his daze when the boy winked at him. He blushed lightly then cleared his throat. "Meet me at the roof in five minutes." He then made his own way to the roof.
(After 5 minutes)
Team 7 were sitting on the roof, with two looking at Kakashi expectanly and one laying on his back and staring at the clouds.
"Well, let's begin with introducing yourselves." Kakashi said.
"What do you want to know?" Sakura said still staring at Sasuke.
"How about your likes, dislikes, your dreams for the future and things like that."
"Why don't you introduce yourself to us first?" Naruto said sitting up.
"Oh, Me? Well, my name is Hatake Kakashi… I have no desire to tell you my likes and dislikes, dreams for the future… hmm and I have lots of hobbies."
"So, all he told us is his name?" Sakura whispered.
"Now, it's your turn, let's start with you pinkie."
Sakura threw her best glare at him, which wasn't much and started, "MY name is Haruno Sakura. The thing I like is… Well, the person I like is… and uhm… my dream for the future… uhm? And what I dislike is Naruto because he takes Sasuke-kun's attention away." At every pause, she glanced at Sasuke.
"Thank god, you dislike me. I hate girls except for some select few." Naruto said, aware of Sasuke staring at him.
"Oookay… now the duck-butt haired guy." Kakashi said pointing at Sasuke.
Sasuke threw his best glare, which was quite good, for embarrassing him in front of Naruto. "It doesn't stay any other way." He mumbled.
"Don't worry, I like your hair." Naruto whispered, running his hand through said hair.
Sasuke blushed a deep red and began his introduction. "My name is Uchiha Sasuke. There are lots of things I dislike and I only like one thing. And, I can't really call it a dream but I have an ambition. It is to kill a certain man."
Kakashi nodded his head as if it was a normal thing, which it was since ninja's job was mostly to kill. He then looked at Naruto.
"My name is Uzumaki Naruto. You could say that I like handsome men. My dislikes I don't really know. I don't have a dream but I do have a saying that I follow. It's 'Life of a shinobi is unpredictable' so enjoy your life while you can."
They all stared at Naruto then Kakashi cleared his throat for the second time that day. "So far for the introductions. Tomorrow, we'll start our duties as shinobi but first we are going to do something with just the four of us."
"What is it?" Sakura asked.
"Survival training."
"Survival training? We've had enough training at the academy." Sakura said.
"This isn't a normal training, this time I'm your opponent."
Sasuke and Sakura had a question mark on their head while Naruto had begun to watch the clouds again, since he already knew this.
"What is it then?" Sasuke asked.
Kakashi chuckled. "What's so funny, sensei?" Sakura asked.
"Uhm, well, it's just… when I tell you this you guys are going to freak out."
"Not me." Naruto muttered softly.
"Freak out? Why?" Sakura questioned again.
"Well, of the 27 graduates, only 9 will be chosen to become a genin. The rest will be sent back to the academy. This training is a very difficult exam with a failure rate of over 66%!"
Sakura's jaw dropped while Sasuke clenched his jaw.
"What? No way! But we worked so hard… then what was the point of graduating." Sakura shouted, making Naruto cringe.
"Oh that? That was just to select those who have the chance to become genin."
"WHAT?!" Sakura shouted, making Naruto cringe again.
"Anyway, tomorrow you have to show your real skills on the training ground. Bring all the shinobi tools you have. Oh… and skip breakfast, you might throw up." Kakashi said as an afterthought. "The details are on this paper and don't be late tomorrow."
"Look who's talking." Naruto muttered again while standing up to leave.
