Hello everyone!
Ok, so last chapter, I received PMs saying that they didn't understand the plotline, and that they didn't know that Red X was dead, Jump City was in shambles, blah blah, blah. Anyways, don't worry! Everything'll be answered in this chappie.
Enjoy and stuff!
Robin was stunned.
A minute earlier, he was planning to forcefully shove NIght out the window and observe the red stain he would make on the pavement. But then she saw her. He saw the girl with once rich blonde hair he fist-bumped, that he once saved, that he once shared a pizza with. He watched in horror as she raised her hands and slammed them down, the giant stone hands in front of her mimicking her with deadly precision.
He could almost hear skulls cracking.
Somehow, Night managed to get a few words out. "Rob- she- accident- need the-" he gagged.
Robin, not thinking clearly, his head clouded with fury and surprise, shoulder-shoved Night through the glass. And the two falled down nineteen floors and hit the ground.
"ROBI-" Starfire's scream was cut off by a large metal hand. Cyborg spoke urgently in her ear. "Star, are you crazy? She'll hear us…." Cy's voice died off at the sight of the massive wall of earth careening towards them.
Through dazed eyes, Robin watched the giant chunk of rock smash into the building. Glass and steel rained from the sky, and with it, the lives of his friends. And in that moment, his mind ceased to function. He stopped breathing, his thoughts erased, and he could've swore his heart stopped. "No..." he murmured. Night limped up behind him. His leg was bleeding and his hood was down. "C'mon. We need to leave. She'll be here any second and if she does…." he shook his head. "The world's last hope dies with us."
He was probably insane, the fall damaging something irreparable in his brain, but as if possessed, he walked away with Night, into the husk of the once-great downtown Jump City.
The remaining Titans plus one, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Raven, and Slade, suddenly were standing on top of the pizza restaurant downtown. They all got to their feet, dazed and wounded, but still alive. Slade surveyed the landscape, watching, planning, while the four teens got their bearings.
"Why are we here?" Cyborg asked.
"Yes, we need to go back, we need to rescue Robin! Why have you made us leave the building?!" Starfire demanded.
"Yeah, Rave!" Beast Boy spoke up, "Robin just fell like, two hundred feet! We should be back there helping him right no-"
"Enough!" Raven snarled in her demonic voice, all four of her eyes out, which shut everyone up. Then she regained her composure and spoke again. "In case you people haven't noticed, a 3,000-pound slab of rock was heading towards us with death riding it. I teleported us to the first place that came to mind a millisecond before we were smashed!"
Everyone stopped talking for a moment, the full reality of their situation sinking in. Robin was probably dead, Jump City is close to annihilation, and one of their best friends is trying to kill them. This was worse than the Rowan Incident, than when Trigon came, than anything else the Titans had ever faced.
But then the four teens were shaken out of their apathy by Slade, who spoke suddenly. "Robin is back, and Night is with him."
Night looked up to see a streak of purple and red streak up from the pizza restaurant in front of them and greet Robin with a Starfire-style bear hug. The rest of the Titans followed suit, all yelling "ROBIN!" He could see the Boy Wonder laugh and greeting his best friends. And in that moment of weakness, in that moment of watching the five teens hug and display all-around affection for each other, he felt a pang of jealousy. He had never had any friends, the closest being a rat that occasionally visited he and his father's hut during his childhood. His "comrades" from the League of Assassins were nothing but pretenders, none of them wanted to work with a boy, particularly one with the vast amount of skills he had.
Maybe he shouldn't have woken Terra. Maybe if he hadn't, he could've masterminded some way to become part of the team. Maybe he finally would've had a home.
(Don't judge me! I felt sorry for the guy (my own OC. *slowly shakes head in self-pity) and it was all I could think of! :P)
He shook the thoughts from his head. Professionals were not supposed to think this way. He had work to do. Night stepped toward the now-complete Titans. "I'm sorry to interrupt the reunion, I truly am, but we have a demon to kill."
"I had hoped to wake Terra in order to help me track down her brother, Geo-Force. He is an extremely powerful teen and it was imperative that he not fall into the hands of -ahem- shadier individuals."
Night had brought the Titans to his hideout on east 37th street, which was a quarter-mile away from the Terenian Building that Raven thought was Night's hideout.
"So it was one mistake!" Raven protested. "It's not like the universe was going to be destroyed!"
Anyways, the Titans, particularly Robin, had learned that he had been keeping tabs on them ever since the alien invasion where they first met. He also kept individual tabs and files on each of them, plus all of the honorary titans.
"I was originally going to wake Terra using a complex Zynothium-powered machine specially engineered by Professor Chang, but shortly before the plan was carried out, there was a… complication."
He tapped a button on his holographic keyboard and a face popped up. It had antler's horns, red skin, hair the color of ash, and two pairs of furious red eyes.
Raven paled. "Trigon," she said.
Night nodded. "Your father was summoned to earth and if you remember correctly, turned the remaining humans to stone. After you five sent him back to the netherworld, he sent out a magical pulse that turned everyone back, along with Terra. She wasn't fully awake, though, so I finished the job about an hour ago." Night kneaded his forehead and looked down. "But what I didn't know, in all my calculations, preparations, and cautiousness, is that because Terra was already turned to stone, Trigon's magic that was supposed to turn her into stone, actually went into her body and spirit. When she awakened, a part of Trigon's power and spirit flashed into her body, causing her to simply become corrupted."
The Titans were silent. Then Beast Boy spoke up. "So, Trigon's energy is now inside her?"
Night nodded. "Yes. And now, her goal is to start a new reign of terror. But this time, alongside Trigon."
Well, another day, another chappie- oh, who am I kidding, this update took like, a month, maybe even moar. Anyways, I hope you like it, comment, hate, and I don't really care.
Cahill161, out!
