Trust.

It's a simple word, simply spelled, simply pronounced, but it's true meaning is anything but simple. To gain someone's trust, you have to, well, it really depends on the person. But Robin's criteria was, again, simple. You have to be either a friend of him, a friend of the Titans, of he had to witness you doing something good.

Trust.

Night never really had any of Robin's, which may have been obvious. When Night was pinned against the window, he tried to gain at least a little of Robin's trust. As you may have remembered, it didn't work. Throughout the entire story, Robin kept telling himself in his mind, Don't trust him, don't trust him. But when Terra had come, Robin's mind partially ceased to operate. But only partially. He still didn't want to trust Night.

Trust.

But Robin had no choice. If they were to succeed against Terra, they needed utmost trust in each other. Night raised Terra. So he knew how to put her back.

Night's Hideout

Night had explained everything to the Titans, and he was pretty sure they all understood. Ironically, it was Cyborg who didn't get it.

"Wait, back up," Cyborg interjected. "So you said that you raised Terra from the dead, or whatever. Then she fused with Trigon. Then she wants to raise Trigon from the underworld, Aghhh!"

Night held his temples. "Fine let me explain again."

Terra's Cave, Approximately 105 minutes ago

Night worked furiously, his eyes narrowed in concentration, fingers flying over his holo-keyboard. The machine loomed in front of him. It resembled a hollowed-out semicircle, where the Terra stone figure stood. Red coils that flowed with liquid Zynothium snaked around the device, and Tesla Coils pointed like swollen fingers at Terra.

It was a wonderful machine, engineered with obvious genius and creativity, and Night acknowledged that. So despite the speed of his fingers, he was careful, not wanting to damage the beautiful machine.

Red X lounged behind him on a crate, watching him with apparent lack of interest. His skull mask seemed to be more of a child's halloween costume instead of a uniform. Night respected Red X. He was a nimble fighter, skilled and ruthless. But he did not like him. In fact, he didn't like him at all. He had a cocky, upstart attitude, like he owned the entire world. It reminded him of the rich boys that always treated him and his father like they were good-for-nothing dirt people.

Night had the sudden urge to smash in Red X's face.

But he was almost finished. Just a few hundred more keystrokes and he could begin. Just a little more and . . .

Yes!

He hit the last key. The screen glowed green and the machine hummed to life. Electricity arced up to the coils and traveled into Terra.

But something wasn't right. Instead of a yellow, the air around her turned a bloody red. A hot wind blew through the cave, followed by a deep rumble of evil laughter. High-pitched beeping emitted from the computer, and warning signs peppered the screens.

Night soon found Red X standing next to him, his body tensed. "Night, what's going on?" he asked.

But the thing is, Night didn't know what was happening. He didn't plan on it, he didn't prepare for it, he was utterly flabbergasted at what was happening.

A pulse of red light emitted from the Terra statue, ripping through the machine and sending the two flying back. Red X skidded backward on the ground, stopping at about ten feet away from where he was. Night was not so lucky. Since he was closer, he got more force from the blast and he actually flew in midair, slammed into a stalactite and fell to the ground.

Dazed with his head throbbing, Night watched flecks of rock fall off Terra until she was completely free of her stone eggshell. She floated above the ground and looked around. Then her mouth curled into a smile as Red X charged towards her.

Punches and kicks were exchanged. Terra now had an incredible amount of hand-to-hand prowess, and X soon found himself overwhelmed.

"Night! Where did she- OOF, learn to fight like this?!" X demanded. Unfortunately, Night passed out, and he was alone, fighting a losing battle. He didn't know how long he was going to hold out. No help was coming, and he was getting exhausted.

It turned out, Red X's time was up. In a brilliant maneuver, Terra feinted to the left. While Red X turned to block, she slid between his legs, and jabbed a rapid set of punches up his back. X fell to the ground, paralyzed. Terra thrust her fist up. A tendril of rock pierced through his body in the blink of an eye.

Just like that, the skilled master thief died.

Terra felt exhilarated. She had just achieved her first kill. And she loved it. The sound he made when he was impaled, the crunch of his bones, the severing of his arteries, in fact, she only wished she could see his face. Hmmm… she thought. Not a bad idea. Slowly, she reached down and plucked the white-and-red mask from his face, revealing black hair, a fair complexion, and dead eyes. Jason Todd. A shame, I could've used him. Oh well. She slid his mask into her belt, then raised her arms. She rose on a chunk of rock. Her eyes turned red and she glowed with a crimson light. She clapped her hands together, and there was a massive rumble, explosions, and screams.

And then silence
