Hey guys! So if you didn't know already, I posted my new story Wizard's Protection Program. I have to say, I really like it! But, this story is still my first priority, so I bring you an update! Enjoy!
The Newton Family
The doorbell rang. They were here.
Draco groaned. "Can't we just pretend we're not here?" he asked.
Hermione shook her head. "All of the cars are in the driveway." She reminded and he grumbled. Currently all of the kids were lined up on the stairway from shortest to tallest. From the bottom it went Jesse, Luna, Padma, Seamus, Harry, Hermione, Theo, Neville, Dean, Blaise, Draco, Fred, and ended with George as the tallest, much to his pleasure. Remus and Narcissa stood to the left of the staircase.
Based on the way the Jackson children had described the Newton family, well more like Dana Newton, they were not looking forward to this visit whatsoever.
Sirius chuckled. "Come on, guys. I bet it's not as bad as they made it seem." He reasoned and made his way to the door. Opening the door he was faced with four people. There was a woman and man that were about his age. The woman was short, plump, and blonde with a sickly sweet smile that reminded him of Molly Weasley and was holding a tray of cookies. The man was a burly man with short blonde hair, blue eyes that sparkled with laughter, and a large smile that reminded Sirius of his own. In front of them stood a girl who looked to be Luna's age. She, like her parents, also had blonde hair that flowed down her back, brown eyes that matched her mothers, and was wearing the same large, sickly sweet smile. Behind the trio stood a boy about the same age as Hermione. He was average height with blonde hair and his father's blue eyes that were looking at his shoes. He had his hands stuffed in his pockets and was not making eye contact with anyone.
The matriarch of the family smiled wider. "Hello!" she squealed happily, causing the male Newtons to flinch slightly. "I'm Dana Newton and my family and I just wanted to welcome you to Forks. This is my husband, Grayson," she indicated to the large man beside her.
"Hello!" he boomed happily and Sirius jumped slightly at the loud, deep voice.
Dana glared, as she had jumped too. "Don't be so loud, Grayson." She scolded, but he just rolled his eyes. "Please don't mind my husband. Anyways, this is my daughter Allyson. She's fifteen. And this is my son, Michael. He's sixteen." She looked at her son who still didn't look up. "Michael, don't be rude!" she practically screeched and he jumped, finally making eye contact with Sirius.
"Hello." He said politely. He frowned at his mother. "Mom, how many times have I asked you to call me Mike." He sighed, exasperated.
Dana merely rolled her eyes at her son before smiling at Sirius.
Sirius was successful to put on a fake smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you all. I am Sirius Black." He introduced himself and shivered when Dana's eyes roamed his body hungrily. "Please, come in." he stepped aside and the females eagerly stepped in while the males rolled their eyes and came in after them.
Grayson stopped in front of Sirius and whispered, "I just want to apologize now for anything my wife and daughter do while we're here because I know they'll try something." Sirius nodded and gave Grayson his thanks.
Dana's eyes roamed over all of the kids on the stairwell in excitement. "Oh my, you have so many kids." She exclaimed. Her eyes glinted when they stopped on Hermione, and if it was even possible her smile grew bigger.
Sirius smiled. "Yes, we do. The boy at the bottom is Jesse. Going up is Luna, Padma, Seamus, Harry, Hermione, Theo, Neville, Dean, Blaise, Draco, Fred, and George." He introduced and they all waved. "Almost all of them are adopted. Harry, Hermione, Jesse, Dean, Seamus, and Neville are all mine, though Harry is my godson." He explained. "Draco, Luna, Blaise, and Theo are Narcissa's children, Blaise and Theo being adopted. Fred, George, and Padma are Remus' children. They're all adopted." Sirius finished, giving them the cover story they gave the Jacksons.
"Oh, well you all are just so darling!" she squealed and the kids all flinched. They gave Sirius a look that clearly said, not that bad?
He sighed. "Yes they are. Why don't we retreat to the living room?" he suggested. They all made their way into the living room.
As Seamus went to take his usual seat next to Dean on the three person couch, a flash of blonde hair rushed past him and Allyson seated herself closely next to Dean, who blinked in surprise. Seamus grumbled and went to sit on the floor next to Neville's feet, who was sitting to the left of Dean.
"Hi." She said sweetly, batting her eyelashes up at him.
Dean cleared his throat and scooted away from her a little. "Hi." He replied cautiously.
She scooted closer. "I'm Allyson." She smiled. Dean thought it looked almost predatory and scooted away again.
"Dean." He said.
Once again she scooted closer. "You have such a lovely, big house. You must be rich! A person can only dream of living in a house this big." She gushed.
By now Dean was trying not to choke on his own puke and the smell of her perfume. Did she bathe in it? He thought as he scooted away again. "Well, when you have sixteen people in one family, you tend to have a big house." he laughed nervously.
This time Allyson scooted even closer and grinned like a Cheshire cat. "I guess so." She looked him up and down hungrily. "I love your shirt." She purred.
By now Dean was pressed against Neville, who was too amused to care, and couldn't scoot away anymore. "Uh, it's Draco's." he said. He scrambled out of his seat as she leaned closer, tripping over his own feet and almost falling. He managed to catch himself before he hit the ground and dusted himself off, clearing his throat. "How about I get some milk to go with those cookies?" He said nervously, throwing cautious looks at Allyson.
"I'll help you." Hermione chirped, not liking how Mrs. Newton was looking at her.
They quickly went to the kitchen and breathed a sigh of release.
"I'm telling you, as soon as Mrs. Newton saw me she was already planning a wedding for her son and I." Hermione huffed as she got some glasses from the cupboard.
Dean scoffed as he got the milk from the fridge. "You think that's bad? Allyson was practically undressing me with her eyes!" he exclaimed, pouring milk into the glasses. "I can't sit next to that girl. I was practically on Neville's lap!" he said desperately.
Hermione gave him an amused, but sympathetic, look. "You can sit with me on the one person seat." She said.
Dean hugged her tightly. "That's why you're my favorite." He said and Hermione laughed.
They put the glasses of milk on two trays and carried them back into the living room. After placing them on the table, Dean saw Allyson trying to give him a seductive look, which actually made him want to laugh as she was failing. He quickly sat in the chair Hermione had occupied and pulled said girl onto his lap. Both looked to see Allyson glaring at Hermione and Dana glaring at Dean.
"So, Hermione, you're quite a lovely girl." Dana smiled, turning to her son. "Wouldn't you agree, Michael?" she asked, and both teens inwardly groaned.
"It's Mike, mom." Mike sighed, trying to change the subject.
"Don't talk back." She snapped and Mike rolled his eyes.
"So, Dean." Grayson said, not giving his wife the chance to continue. "Sirius here was just telling us that you're a really talented artist." He said, smiling kindly at the boy.
Dean shrugged. "I guess." He said.
Seamus snorted in disbelief. "You guess?" he asked. Turning to Grayson he pointed to the family portrait above the fireplace. "He painted that." He told him.
Grayson looked at the portrait in awe and looked back at Dean, who was glaring lightly at Seamus. "You're good, kid." Grayson told him. "How would you like to make a little money this summer?" he said and Dean gave him his full attention. "I'm opening a car repair shop a few blocks away. I've been trying to find someone good enough to make me a sign. How would you like to do it? I'd pay you twenty bucks for every hour you work on it." He offered and Dean stared at him in disbelief.
Seamus jumped up. "As Dean's manager, I'll will need to collect twenty percent of these profits. You know, manager's cut." He said in a professional voice that caused those around the room to chuckle and Dean to scoff.
"In your dreams dude." He said and Seamus shrugged.
"Can't blame a guy for trying." He said.
Dean laughed before turning back to Grayson. "I'd love to Mr. Newton." He said.
Grayson laughed cheerily. "Please, call me Gray." He insisted and Dean nodded.
Allyson smiled. "That's great daddy! I guess we'll be seeing a lot more of each other." She said happily, sending Dean a dreamy smile that made him rethink his decision.
The evening passed on with Dana continuously complimenting Hermione and talking nonstop about how wonderful her son was. Allyson kept going on about her many accomplishments and making googly eyes at Dean, who was growing sicker and sicker as time went by. Grayson kept making attempts to change the subject and get to know the new family, which they greatly appreciated. Mike didn't say a word the whole time they were there.
"I'm going to go clean these dishes." Hermione said quickly, needing to get away from Dana Newton as quickly as possible.
"I'll help you." Mike surprisingly offered.
She looked at him in surprise. "Oh, you don't have to." She said, secretly wishing he wouldn't.
He smiled slightly. "It's really no problem." He insisted, picking up the trays that held empty glasses.
"Oh, my boy's such a gentlemen, isn't he?" Dana gushed.
Hermione sighed and picked up the cookie tray before leading Mike into the kitchen. Mike put the glasses in the sink and Hermione started to clean them. Mike grabbed a cloth off the table and helped her by drying them and putting them away, taking her by surprise. They worked in silence for a while before Mike finally spoke.
"I'm sorry about my mom. She's always been like that." He said.
Hermione smiled a little and said, "In that case, I'm sorry for you." She said and Mike actually snorted. "Why is she like that?" she asked.
Mike scoffed. "Only God knows." He said. "But ever since I reached double digits she's tried nonstop to find me the 'perfect girl'. It's absolutely annoying." He complained, shaking his head. "Besides, if I'm going to have a girlfriend, it's going to be someone I choose, not my mother." He said.
Hermione felt bad for him. "Have you told her that?" she asked.
He snorted. "Like she'd listen. She doesn't even listen when I ask her to call me 'Mike' and not 'Michael'." He said, shaking his head again in annoyance.
"Michael!" Dana chirped. "We're leaving!"
Mike groaned. "Great, now I get to go home and have her talk nonstop about how you would make a great girlfriend for me and be yelled at for not showing more interest." He said and Hermione gave him a look of sorrow. "Not that you're not a lovely girl." He said quickly.
Hermione laughed. "Don't worry about it. I'm not interested in you just like you're not interested in me. I'm not offended." He told him as they walked into the foyer where the family was waiting. Grayson was giving everyone warm goodbye hugs while Dean was trying in vain to get Allyson off of him. Dana smiled widely when Hermione and Mike appeared.
"Thanks again for the cookies." Sirius said.
Grayson smiled. "It was no problem. It was great meeting you all. And you," he pointed to Dean, "I hope to see you soon." he said. Dean smiled and nodded.
"Me too." Allyson purred, having finally been pried off of Dean, and Dean stopped smiling.
Dana put on her sickly sweet smile once again. "Oh yes, we must get together again soon." she gushed, eyeing Hermione with excitement.
Sirius nodded. "Yes, but sadly it is late and the kids should get to bed. Again, it was lovely having you." He said, practically pushing them out the door. He stopped Grayson and said, "Apology accepted." Grayson laughed and with a final goodbye was gone.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
"That was horrible." Hermione said. "I feel bad for Mike. He hates it just as much as I did."
"Yes, yes, I pity Mike too." Dean said hurriedly. "But can we talk about that some other time. Right now I'm feeling very vandalized and need to take a long shower. But first, I'm burning this shirt." He said and ran upstairs, leaving behind his laughing family.
Suddenly Draco stopped laughing. "Wait!" he yelled, starting to run upstairs. "Dean, that's my best shirt!" he yelled as he chased the boy.
Poor Dean…I felt kind of bad putting Dean in that situation, but it was kind of funny…Anyways, what do you think?! Doesn't Dana piss you off? Review! Love you guys!
Lots of love,
