Loren just sat there, staring. To a stranger she would look dead right now. She just couldn't believe what she had just read. Eddie had split up with Chloe? Mel was going to freak out when she saw this. Turning her skype on Loren connected the call to Mel to see her sitting at her desk painting her nails.
"What's up Lo" Mel asked casually. "Have you been on the internet recently?" Loren asked, wondering if she was in some kind of weird dream of hers. "No" Mel replied, obviously oblivious to the Internets explosion.
"Just go on it and ring me back" Loren explained, trying to stop herself from snorting at the way Mel was so unprepared for this.
It took no longer than two minutes for Mel to ring back screaming into the camera that 'Eddie Duran is single" and having a mental breakdown for logging off again.
Eddie knew that he had done the right thing by breaking it off with Chloe, she was no longer what he wanted or needed in a girlfriend, she was like poison to his system. Lying, cheating were the things on top of the reasons of why he had decided to end it. The realization that if Chloe would have told Eddie from the start that she was from Fresno and her mother was a deadbeat wouldn't of mattered to him and the fact that she thought it would hurt the most. Burying myself into my work was what Eddie had decided was the best thing to do. Focusing on the contest and choosing the Top 25 was definitely something that would get his mind off of Chloe.
Loren was casually freaking out, the top 25 was up at the end of the day. Loren could feel that she wasn't good enough. Nothing good had come out of her life so far and she didn't want this to be another disappointment. Standing there leaning against her locker she was casually having a meltdown. Reading Eddie's newest tweet Loren could feel the butterfly's flying around her stomach.
RealEddieDuran: Just going to start making my decisions about the Top 25, The first 24 spots have been filled with one left, may the best song win.
Standing there in the hallway knowing this wasn't what I wanted with my life, I prayed that the last spot was for me.
Pacing along Jake's office, Eddie was nervous. He wasn't sure what he was doing and he hadn't found the stand out song he was looking for yet. "Eddie, are you nearly finished yet?" Jake called in.
Eddie sighed, frustrated with the lack of talent in the final ten acts he'd been through. "I'm just filling in the last songs place but nothing is good, nothing stands out and none of these deserve a place"
"Maybe I have the winner" Jake stood there with a disc in his hand grinning. "Where did you get that?" Eddie questioned. "Late entry, yesterday. Just found it in my office this morning" Jake laughed.
Eddie got up and put the disc into the player. Knowing that it couldn't be much worse than the rest of them. The song kicked up with a nice steady rhythm with a guitar in the background, but then the girl started singing
They tell me it's nice this time of year, but down on earth
My heads been in the clouds I'm acting weird and lost for words
Falling like the stars I'm falling fast and hard for something out of reach
I could be there but you wouldn't see me
Hover in the air like I'm just a daydream
Why does it feel so far?
Close enough to touch but your looking through me
In the same room a smile away feels miles from where you are
Might as well be mars.
Jake stood there, proudly clapping at the girls wonderful voice, It was like a shock to the system when I realised why it sounded so familiar. "I've heard it before" I squeaked out to Jake who spun around to face me.
"Did she rip someone off" Jake asked, clearly racking his brain for possibilities. Eddie took out his phone and scrolled through until he found it. "This girl has been tweeting her song lyrics to me for weeks" Eddie explained. "She has to have the last spot Jake she does" Eddie pleaded.
Jake just grinned back at him. "Now lets go and post those results shall we"
Loren felt her phone buzz as soon as she'd finished math, she knew exactly what it was. Running into the toilets she tried to get her breathing to slow down and let herself down for the rejection. Scrolling down Eddie's website reading lines and lines of names that aren't yours is purely depressing. With a thought about giving up and saving herself from the embarrassment Loren's eyes caught on the last name on the list.
25. Loren Tate
Running out of the toilets as fast as she could, Loren quickly went in the search for Mel, finding her at her locker she shook Mel "Oh my, Mel, Mel, Mel" she screamed. "What's up Lo?" Mel asked cautiously.
"I got through"
