Chapter Eighteen – Neo Vongola Primo

Present Day
As her head began to spin, she felt the world tilt. Her last thought before blacking out was, 'What do Tsu-kun and his friends have to do with Ren-kun and the mafia?'

Reborn dismissed everyone except Tsuna and the scientists. He instructed the scientists to continue their work.
Tsuna was crouched before his mother, trying to both comfort and wake her. Reborn walked over, picked her up in a bridal carry, and left the room. Tsuna followed in silence.
Finding the first empty dorm room, Reborn carefully laid Nana on the bed within. Turning to Tsuna, he made sure the boy remained quiet.
Then, the two took up seats beside the woman they both cared about and waited for her wake up.

Nana woke slowly. Blinking, she realized that she was not in her own bed. With this realization, her memory came rushing back. Tears threatened as she realized that not only did Iemitsu and Ren-kun lie to her, but so did Tsu-kun.
"Mom?" Tsu-kun asked tentatively.
Sitting up, she turned to the room's other two occupants. Sighing, she looked at her only child, "Tsu-kun, I think you need to tell me the truth."
The small brunet flinched and cast a glance at Ren-kun, who motioned for him to speak. Slowly, he began, "It all began the day my home tutor, Reborn, arrived…"

Nana listened as her son told his story. Her heart felt heavy as he spoke of the Varia and the future. Yet, the way he spoke of his friends and guardians brought a smile to her face.
She remembered telling him, "I want you to live feeling 'It's great to be alive!'" And she realized that he had found that. He wanted to live and protect those he loved.
Sighing, she reached over and pulled her not-so-little boy to her. As he finished his story, she whispered into his ear, "I love you, Tsu-kun."

Reborn watched as Tsuna told his story and Nana listened attentively. She seemed to be happy and mad, scared and proud. He knew she was going to handle being Neo Vongola Primo's mother fabulously.
As Tsuna escorted his mother home, Reborn wondered where he would fit into the picture.

Tsuna stayed with his mother for the remainder of the day. He helped her with Lambo, I-Pin and Fuuta, while she asked him various questions. Though most of the questions were about his guardians and him, she would occasionally throw in questions about Reborn and the Arcabaleno.
After dinner was finished and dishes were put away, Tsuna put the younger kids to bed. As he came down the stairs, he observed his mother sitting on the couch holding a necklace with a ring on it.
"Mom?"

Nana turned to look at Tsu-kun. She knew her son was worried and that she should comfort him. Yet, she couldn't stop her mind and heart from worrying over her future and Ren-kun.
Patting the seat next to her, she motioned for Tsuna to join her on the couch.
"Tsu-kun," she began, "You've told me quite a bit today. I want you to know I am proud of you… and I support you as the Vongola heir."
Tsuna shook his head, "But I don't…"
Nana smiled at her son as she continued talking, "I know you will make a wonderful leader. You are compassionate and protective of those you hold dear. You have an inner fire that makes you so much stronger than others."
The small brunet blushed at her words.
"But Tsu-kun, I have something things I need to explain to you… things about my family, Yamamato-kun's family, and Reborn."
Eyes widening, Tsuna nodded for her to continue. Settling in for the night, she told her son about her past.

Reborn spent the night in his apartment. After reviewing the day's events, he switched the monitors to the Sawada residence and watched as Tsuna and his mother discussed their pasts and futures.
