Chapter Two - Unexpected Visitors
A week after Frank's near death experience, things were relatively normal. Magenta, though saddened by the death of her brother, had proven to still be loyal to her master. Calicia, ever the dutiful girlfriend (there was no denying that's what she was to Frank), nursed her love back to health and threw him a lavish party when he had returned to full health. And through it all, Frank's love for Calicia grew stronger.
One morning, while Frank and Calicia were eating breakfast in the kitchen, the doorbell rang. Calicia raised her head from her food and looked over to Frank, finding what had to be a mirror of her own confusion on his face.
"Magenta, go answer the door," Frank instructed, the look of confusion still on his face. Without a word, Magenta, who had been washing dishes, nodded and made her way out of the kitchen. Frank and Calicia waited in silence for Magenta to return. They didn't have to wait long. Soon, voices could be heard coming down the hall. The kitchen door opened and there stood Magenta with none other than that stiff Brad Majors and his lady, Janet Weiss.
"Brad. Janet. What on Earth are you doing here?" Frank asked, rising from his place at the table. "Not more car troubles I hope."
"Not at all, Frank," Brad answered with a smile. "We just wanted to pay you a visit and invite you to our wedding."
"Your...wedding? Well, this is unexpected. I was under the impression you never wanted to see me again."
"Water under the bridge," Brad replied, pulling Frank into a rather awkward hug. Though the hug did give Frank a chance to eye Janet over Brad's shoulder...
What Frank didn't realize was that, while he was eyeing Janet, Brad's eyes had landed on Calicia.
"So, the wedding..." Janet began, stepping forward and placing a hand on Brad's shoulder.
"Yes, the wedding," Brad said, tearing his eyes from Calicia and releasing Frank from the hug. "Will you accept the invitation?" Frank turned and met his girlfriend's gaze. Calicia looked back and him, not sure what to say. She didn't know the people now standing in her kitchen and hadn't appreciated the way Brad had just looked at her. What was worse, Frank hadn't told her about That Night when Brad and Janet had been at the castle last. She had no idea about what her Frankie had done with them. Frank hadn't meant to keep it from her. It had just never come up since he was fairly sure he was never going to see them again, much less get invited to their wedding.
"Why don't you two stay the night and we'll discuss it more. I feel like we have a great deal to catch up on." Frank suggested, finally breaking the lengthy silence. While Magenta cleaned up from breakfast, Frank and Calicia led their guests to one of the guest rooms.
