Told in Drabbles of at Least 100 words, Max 1000 words.
Hermione peeked over her book as she saw Tom finishing the dishes. This was his punishment...and cleaning up the entire house. She couldn't help but smile at him. Not for the fact, he was carrying out his punishment but he really looked his age. He was biting his lip with his tongue sticking out on the side of his mouth as he was trying to get a stubborn piece of food off the plate. There was a major overload of bubbles pouring out of the sink and overflowing onto the counter.
In truth, Hermione was worried about her son and she hoped that this little mishap would soon pass.
She then tapped her cheek and was glad that the bruise was finally gone, though there was a problem on why she didn't remember. Ron asked about it. She tried to quickly pass it off as nothing, and he laughed jokingly saying that his wife was such a klutz sometimes.
Hermione then decided not to worry over it. She has more important things to worry over and that worry was just finishing the dishes. She decided she would see a doctor later about it.
Tom unplugged the sink and took off his rubber gloves as he watched the water slowly run down the drain. He sulked through the entire thing. He would have to be careful so he wouldn't have to face such a punishment again. This was demeaning.
Tom was brought out of his musings as he saw the bubbles all start to float around him and the kitchen. They were wildly spirited and started to take different forms and figures. Some of humans, animals, half-and-half, and inanimate objects. One was a ballerina girl twirling into the air and landing right on Tom's nose. Tom quirked a brow in question and slowly brought his hand out and the ballerina stopped her twirling and stepped on his hand. She then curtseyed for him and continued her twirling.
A shadow came upon him, Tom looked up, and it was the woman. She was smiling and leant down and sat on the floor. "Beautiful isn't it?"
Tom turned his head away with the ballerina still in his hand twirling and merely nodded. He didn't know why he still couldn't face the woman. It's not like he really cared...did he? This woman brought out new feelings he detested out of him and it made him uncomfortable to be honest.
Hermione just smiled thinking it was bashfulness. "It's a small trick I learned when I felt down. The objects you decide to put magic in are in tune with your feelings and act accordingly. They try to cheer you up."
Tom nodded in understanding. "How did you do it?"
Hermione knowingly smiled. "Magic."
Tom pouted. "I know that."
Hermione laughed.
Tom finally looked at her in the eye and actually sighed in relief. He didn't see any judgment or fright from her. In her eyes, all was forgiven. This woman was selfless and forgiving more so than anyone tom ever met.
Tom rubbed his eyes and let out a yawn. It was nearly night now and he was exhausted.
Hermione smiled at him and took his hand. "Time for bed I see," as she lead him up the stairs to his room.
"Well good night Tom," as she tucked him into bed. Tom had Nagini laying across him on the bed curled up ready for sleep. She was just about to stand when he grabbed her wrist. She turned to look at him with a puzzled look on her face but he turned the other way. He didn't know why he grabbed her. For some reason he didn't want her to leave yet. He thought back to that kiss that was placed softly on his cheek.
"Is there something else you needed Tom?"
Tom still didn't face her. His emotions were running wild and he tried with all his 10-year-old might he couldn't control them as his hand refused to let go of her wrist. It's as if his consciousness knew something that he did not and he couldn't have that. He could only deduce that he wanted her to kiss him again. In that one moment the kiss after he gotten scolded had brought him some sort of comfort. It calmed him. And he wanted it once more. At least once more. Then he would have to never to do it. He couldn't' allow himself to be relying on her. Once he left for school, he could become more independent and he couldn't allow this woman to occupy his thoughts.
"Tom," Hermione questioned once more as she brushed past his hair and smoothed it out. He gripped both her wrists now and stared at her. Hermione froze and was a little worried so she sat down beside him again.
Herminie was watching him with a peculiar look on his face deep in thought. Was that a slight blush on his pale skin? "What is it Tom?"
Tom shook his head. No. There was no way he would ask her such a thing. Instead, he whispered a question before he could stop himself.
"Are you proud of me?" His hands on her wrists slightly tightened as he asked. He wasn't sure why he asked her. He just felt like just once, he needed someone to tell them they were proud of him. That they were happy with what he has accomplished. He needed someone to recognize him. Inwardly, Tom wanted someone to just have their attention focused only on him and him alone.
Hermione leaned back a bit and then smiled. Tom was once again taken back at the smile she presented him. Hermione dislodged her wrists from his hold and wrapped her arms around him bringing his face to the crook of her neck and her mouth next to his ear.
"Tom, I am so proud of you. You have grown so much. You will grow even further down the road. And I will be here to watch every minute of it. Whenever you come home from school, I will be here waiting for you. I want to hear all of your adventures. The good and the bad." She then leaned back and rested her forehead on his. "Tom, I won't go anywhere. I will be right here waiting."
Tom's heart swelled with pride and he gave a small smile, which made Hermione's heart beat faster.
Tom let out a small yawn and Hermione laid him back and brought the covers up to his chin. "Goodnight, Tom."
Tom whispered a goodnight as he turned over in his bed and fell asleep.
Hermione crept out of the room, closed the door, and leaned against it. She smiled and had to hold in the bubble of glee running through her veins. Tom just kept opening up with her and she loved it.
Hermione went to her bedroom and Ron was there pulling back her covers for her to slip in.
"What has you smiling?"
Hermione laughed. "Tom."
Ron kept his smile on but he felt like he faltered a bit. "I see he finished his punishment today."
Hermione nodded and laid her head on her husband's chest.
Ron rubbed her back and brought her closer. Ron kissed her mouth and urged her to open for him, which she obliged. Ron then crawled above her and pushed his tongue into her mouth kissing her deeply tasting her cinnamon spice taste. Hermione wrapped her arms around him to hold him against her.
Ron loved his wife. She was so soft beneath him and he ran his hands down her body. Inwardly he he couldn't wait for Tom to leave. That boy has been stealing all of his wife's time this past year and he wasn't of it. Ron always wanted a baby to raise a child to call his own, care, and provide for. However, there was something about the boy that unsettled him. He almost told his wife the other day how he felt but just seeing the smile on her face made him forget about saying anything. Ron never wanted to see his wife suffer as she did when they were trying to conceive. Ron suffered too, Hermione was there for him as well, and she would hold in her feelings and go be sad by herself. Ron never wants Hermione to be in that place again. Ron supposed he should be thanking Tom for helping to bring Hermione's spirits back. Nevertheless, that didn't stop the gnawing feeling in the pit of his stomach this so-called miracle of theirs was trouble.
Now Ron was just pouring his emotions out. He wanted his wife, call him selfish but he wanted her to worry over him now. Just for the night, he wanted her to be with him.
They separated to breathe and Ron kissed the side of her neck. "Someone's excited," she teased.
Ron just smiled. He then brought his mouth to her ear and whispered, "I love you."
Hermione gave a big grin herself and kissed in on the mouth saying, "I love you too."
