I can not apologize enough for the amount of time that it took to get this final chapter up. I just hope that you do not hate me for it. I had it all typed up, I just forgot to post it. I know, I know...rookie mistake.

But anyway, here it is. I am happy to complete another story and I have some other ideas for new stories, so keep your eyes peeled.

Thanks again and enjoy.

Epilogue

Three Years Later…

If you had asked Sam just a few years ago if he would ever be a father, he would have called you crazy.

But now, he was balancing a large sheet cake precariously in his hands, as he kicked the back door open with his foot and entered his backyard. All of Toronto's finest milled about in the backyard, looking so much more relaxed than Sam usually saw them at 15 Division.

Sam recalled the day that Andy had gone into labor. She had been in pain but still cursed and grumbled about going back to the hospital. She claimed that she had spent more time in the hospital in the past year than she had her whole life. Their friends and colleagues from 15 Division had crowded, one by one, into the waiting room at the hospital, making it look much like his backyard looked that day. There had barely been any room for all the people in the waiting room at the hospital, but none of the nurses dared to tell the cops in uniform to go home.

And, after many, many grueling hours, Lacey Marie Swarek had been born.

Sam could recall perfectly, wiping Andy's sweaty bangs back from her forehead as the nurse brought the wrinkly, screaming baby over to them. Andy held the baby with an instinct she hadn't known she possessed and the baby quieted soon after that.

Sam had repressed tears and his heart swelled as he watched his wife, holding their newborn daughter for the first time.

Andy, beyond tired, fell into a much needed sleep not long after that and Sam took Lacey delicately from his wife's arms. Sitting in the slightly uncomfortable chair in the corner, Sam looked down at his slumbering daughter and promised to protect her and love her and to give her the world, just as he had promised Andy when they got married. They were his girls and he would go to the ends of the earth for them.

And now, three years have passed and Sam couldn't believe how fast the time went by. It was Lacey's third birthday already and he smiled as he saw Andy crouched by Lacey's seat at the table, both of them looking and smiling as they saw him enter the backyard.

"Daddy!" Lacey squealed, clapping her hands together. Her blue eyes reflected the light of the flickering candles on her cake as Sam set it down on the table.

Oliver started singing Happy Birthday as Sam crouched on the other side of Lacey's chair. He placed his hand over Andy's, where it was resting on the back of the chair and they shot each other a quick and loving smile.

Somehow, thirty plus people singing Happy Birthday completely off- key didn't sound that bad and Lacey, loving the attention, blew out the candles with some help from her Mom and Dad.

Champ, the kitten, who was actually quite a large cat by now, made his way outside, curious about the noise. He jumped right up on Lacey's lap and she giggled.

Traci picked up Sam's camera, which was lying on the table. "Smile!" she called from behind the lens.

The picture of the small family came out beautifully. Sam had it blown up and gave it to Andy for Christmas that year and Andy decided to place it above the fireplace.

And the family was finally able to live 'happily ever after'. Of course, the family had their ups and downs, but after everything they had already been through, everything else was a piece of cake.

The End.
