Yeah, I'm sorry. I'll talk more at the end of the chapter.

A tall girl with raven hair swiftly dodges out of the sight of the students exiting the Room of Requirement. She had been spying on that Finch girl and her friends for a few weeks, and now she had all the information she needed. Once she was alone in her dormitory, she sent a message via her wolf Patronus:

"I know what she's planning" she whispered, "We need to talk. In person"

I was sitting in the great hall on a Saturday morning in May, eating breakfast with Abbie, when a familiar barn owl swooped down, dropping a letter in front of me.

"Your parents?" Abbie guessed, glancing up from the Daily Prophet.

"Yeah, which is strange. The never send me letters, unless it's about something really important" I replied, opening the envelope, now quite worried.

I scanned my father's small, neat handwriting, reading it several times over. I must have looked shocked, because Abbie spoke up.

"What's wrong? What does it say?" She inquired, panic now rising in her voice.

"They say something happened. I'm going home this afternoon. They want to talk about it in person" I answered nervously, handing her the letter to read for herself.

Finch,

We hope you are doing well. Unfortunately, something has happened, and your mother and I would prefer to go into more detail in person. We have already talked to the headmaster, told him there was a family emergency. A professor will escort you to Hogsmeade at one o clock this afternoon. We will meet you there and apparate home. Bring all of your things.

I am so sorry. We love you.

~Dad

We returned to dorms, where Abbie was helping me pack everything into my trunk.

"What do you think happened?" She asked, tentatively. I sighed.

"Honestly, I have no idea, and I really don't want to think about it right now" I replied, sitting down on the bed, putting my head in my hands.

"Okay, I get that. I'm sorry I brought it up" she sat down next to me, placing an arm around my shoulder. "But you know, whatever happens, I'm here for you. You know that, right?" She said, squeezing me into a hug.

"I know, I know. Thank you, Abbie. That really means a lot to me" I said, words slightly muffled into her shoulder.

"Of course, that's what friends are for" she replied, pulling me up into a standing position. "Now, you've got to get going, you're meeting your parents in less than an hour". I sighed again, heaving my trunk off the bed, and headed to the stairs.

"Promise you'll write to me?" She asked as we headed downstairs to the common room "whatever happens, you'll let me know, right?"

"Of course, if I can" I answered. We walked in silence for the rest of our walk through the castle. At the front entrance, our charms professor was waiting for me.

"I'll see you soon" Abbie said as I walked out the door.

"I sure hope so" I replied bitterly.

So it's been a while, huh? If you're still reading this story, thank you for putting up with my terrible updating schedule. Also, you might notice that I have been spelling Abbie's name with a Y in earlier chapters, but I decided to switch to IE. I don't know, I just like it better. If your character hasn't gotten much "screen time" yet, I promise everyone will be of more importance in later chapters. Just hang in there. I hope you know what's about to happen, but if you don't, it's okay. Anyway, thanks for reading, and please let me know what you think.
