Chapter Two
Wolven Territory
{Part One}
~Last Time On Clash of the Ancients….~
"Lark! What were you doing?! Did I not tell you to leave my sight anymore?!" Jin yelled striding over to His mate. He began to check her over for injuries before He just decided to take her in His arms and keep her there.
"Sorry. I guess it's our fault." Lin Chung said as he stepped to the side, so the Fire God could see him fully.
Almost immediately, Jin got this huge grin on his face, "Young Warrior!" He looked around and spotted the others as well. "And you brought your comrades!"
The Squads bowed in response while Lin Chung took a step forward and held out his hand, "It is nice to see you again, Lord Huojin." The God just kind of looked at it before He took the offered appendage.
…And lifted Lin Chung completely off the ground.
Huojin laughed and brought him in for a hug, "Of course! And what's with the "Lord" stuff? Call me Jin!"
Eventually, Jin let Lin Chung out of His nearly bruising grip and while the fighter was trying to regain his breath, Lark decided to speak, "Now that our dear reunion is out of the way. I would like to introduce someone to all of you…"
A distinct male voice rang out across the open area, "Well, it's about damn time Chickie!"
Lark rolled her eyes, "What have I told you about referring to me as that?"
"To not to."
"Then why do you insist upon it?"
The cloaked figure pushed back his white hood, "In simple terms, because I can. Oh dear Sister of mine." Lark merely scoffed.
"Allow me to introduce myself, since my darling Sister is taking her sweet time," Lark glared in response, "My name is Draven." He turned his gaze downwards and looked each of them in the eye. It seemed as though he was determining their threat levels.
When Draven finally got to Lin Chung, he regarded him with a critical eye, "….and you must be the "Young Warrior" I keep hearing about."
"Leave him be, Draven." Lark growled. Everyone was surprised at her change of character.
Draven only laughed, "Oh, please! The only reason why you're speaking up for the kid is because he looks almost exactly like- UMPH!"
With a sickly sweet smile, Jin peered down at a hunched over, in-pain Draven, "Oh no! What happened? Do you have a stomachache?"
Wheeze!
Lark rolled her eyes, "Do not pay any attention to him, Young Ones. Certain Events and his Homeland have turned my Brother bitter."
"Brother?" Sonia asked taking a closer look. Draven was the complete opposite of Lark. Shaggy platinum blond hair instead of blue-black, ice-blue eyes not oceanic-green, and beneath leather breeches, boots, and the normal wear of a hunter was nothing, but hardened muscle.
Not to mention his personality….
"Bitter? Bitter! What do you know about "Bitter"?! Huh?! You've had it easy, all these years!" Draven exclaimed now fully upright and in front of Lark's face.
"Easy? Easy?! Tis what you think, Brother! I have been under the same amount of stress as you have….If not more so!" Lark yelled in response poking her finger to his chest to emphasize her point.
"SPARK IT!" The Squads jumped in surprise and turned to look up at Jin, "Now those two are going to be fighting for hours!" Jin crossed his arms and huffed. They looked back at the two "siblings" going back and forth arguing about anything and everything.
"Are those two really brother and sister?" Lin Chung asked curious about earlier.
"They sure do fight like siblings, that's for sure!" Alpha Girl piped in. Everyone nodded their heads in agreement.
Jin chuckled and turned his head from the fight and looked down, "No, they are not truly siblings, but they all like to pretend."
Commander Apetrully stroked his non-existent chin in thought before a sly smirk made its way across his face. He slowly slid his way next to the Dark God and rocking back and forth on his heels he tried to ask casually (tried being the keyword here), "….All you say?"
Jin's fond smile turned into a huge grin, "Yeah! You know! All!"
Woo got the same smirk and while stroking his mustache he answered, "I am so sorry, but if you could refresh our memories…?"
Jin, still smiling in a goofy fashion, "Sure! All meaning the other Mates! You've already met Lark and Draven, but there is also Ro-OW!" Jin started to rub at the spot on his chest where a rock managed to hit.
"WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!"
"SHUT IT!" Lark and Draven yelled in unison.
Jin merely looked between the two aghast, "What? What did I do?"
Draven turned to Lark with a slightly amazed look on his face, "Wow you weren't kidding about being as stressed as I was….Your Chosen is an idiot. OW!"
Jin pointed and laughed as Draven held the spot where Lark punched him.
…..but stopped immediately when he felt Lark's glare.
Lark finally acknowledged her guests once more (without the glare), "Forgive me, Young Ones. These two always bring out the worst in me."
Two insulted sounding "heys!" could be heard.
Lark rolled her eyes, "Anyways, I thought you might like to meet my Brother because… well… I have tiny favor to ask of thee, Young Warrior. Of you and your Comrades, if they are willing?" She looked down biting her bottom lip nervously.
"We would be most honored to help you in any way that we possibly can, Lady Lark!" Commander Apetrully replied bouncing up to her joyfully.
She breathed a sigh of relief, "Oh, I give you my thanks!"
"Now just wait one second!"
Everyone turned their heads toward Alpha Girl, "Just what exactly do you want us to do?" She huffed out, hands on her hips.
Before Mr. No-Hands could chastise her for her rudeness, Lark cut-in, "Oh! How careless of me!"
Draven let out a bark of laughter, "Yeah, nice going!"
Lark narrowed her eyes, "Since this favor is to help you anyway, why do you not explain the quest to them yourself? Hmmm?" She crossed her arms waiting his response.
His laughter died instanteously. He glared back at her, "Fine!" He turned toward the group, "Well…the thing is…. my M-Mistress-" He stumbled over the word and shivered in what seemed like disgust, "…sent me here because something was terrorizing her borders, and was wondering if it was Jin just playing harmful tricks-" Jin glowered at him.
"It is a reasonable assumption, Jin. You and Ulrica have always let your idiotic revelry get in the way of the lives of others." Lark replied in a matter-of-fact tone shaking her head.
Jin turned his head away, crossing his arms, and pouting, "Doesn't mean you have to say it out loud though…" He mumbled.
Lark let out a giggle as Draven gave an eye-roll and continued with his story, "Anyway, we figured that it wasn't you since you just woke up and you were involved with the entire war thing that happened immediately after waking."
"Everyone knows about that?" Jin asked.
Draven sneered, "Oh yeah, especially how that tiny human deceived you!" He started to laugh controllably.
Which was stopped completely by a hard slap to the back of the head by Lark.
"Get on with it, Brother." She hissed out.
Draven growled, "You never let me have any fun…." He turned back toward them to finish, "So, a couple of the border soldiers spotted a few eagles in the vicinity of where some of the attacks occurred, and we thought that maybe you could help us, since you have handled them before."
The group looked at each other and nodded in confirmation.
"Highroller."
Immediately, the surrounding area turned uncomfortably warm.
"That Tiny Human is behind this?" All eyes turned toward Jin and were unsurprised to see what they did.
Jin's anger was burning brightly.
Quite Literally.
Lark gently laid her hand on Jin's chest in an attempt to calm her Mate down. They watched as the flames that covered His body dissipated under her touch. He still retained most of the fires and feathers, but His fists slowly began unclench.
"Unless it's Ari, but you know. He's a stickler for rules and boundries and stuff." Draven shrugged his shoulders.
The Commander and Woo immediately perked up in response, "Ari?"
Lark outright laughed, "In due time, Young Ones."
Both deflated again.
"So, wait. If you know who's doing this then why do you want our help?" Kowloon asked still completely confused.
Draven rolled his eyes, "She doesn't want to get fully involved. She just wants the end result."
Alpha Girl scoffed, "Which is what exactly?"
Draven chortled, "You guys presenting the Little Trespasser and his Flying Fiends to Her Court for their punishment."
Lin Chung spoke up this time slightly worried for Big Green's Nemesis, "What would that "punishment" entail?"
"I do not think you wish to know, Young Warrior." Lark replied eyes downcast.
First Squad didn't look too happy at that response.
By this time, Jin had completely calmed down, "Well, its up to you and your Comrades."
Lark nodded her head, "Indeed. You do not have to take this quest if you do not think it wise."
"Well? What are we waiting for? In fact! Why are we even thinking about it? Lets go take down Highroller!" Alpha Girl yelled raising her club in the air.
The rest of Second Squad hollered along with her.
Draven shivered and leaned over to whisper to Jin and Lark, "She reminds me of Her." The both of them looked at the two groups bickering back and forth.
One in particular.
One who kept threatening to beat people with her club if they didn't agree with her.
The three taller ones looked back at each other….
And shuddered.
So, once Mighty Ray was flattened thoroughly by Alpha Girl's threats (sorry promises), Draven got his answer.
"Lead the way, Lord Draven! We shall help you!" Apetrully shakily declared.
Draven crossed his arms over his chest and laughed, "All right! Lets head out!"
He started his way down the mountain with the members of Big Green. All except for one.
Lin Chung glanced at his team walking farther away before he sighed and looked up at his new friends, "…Is there anything I should know before my squad dives head-first into this….this…"
"Inevitable disaster?" Jin supplied with a smirk.
Lark elbowed Him in the gut before she sighed as well, "The only advice I can give is: Dress warmly, Young Warrior."
Jin let out a snort as Lin Chung made his way down the Volcano to catch up, "Good luck, Young Warrior!" He yelled waving his arm vigorously, but slowly His smile began to fade and in a near whisper, "…You're going to need it…"
Lark leaned her head on His shoulder nodding in agreement, "Please let him be safe."
Next time on Clash of the Ancients!
