Chapter 7

Her head was pounding, and the bright rays of sunlight that slipped past the curtains of the windows were annoying her. Slowly, she sat up, trying to ignore the pain in her head, and noticed the glass of water and two pills on the side table. She took the pills and popped them in her mouth, taking a drink afterwards. It was going to be a while until they took effect, and Lucy was not sure if she could be that patient. Not that she had much of a choice.

She sat on the bed for a while, until the pain was a dull thumping, and for once took a good look at her surroundings. She was still in Juvia's home, that she knew too well, but something was missing and only when blurred images flashed in her mind did she realize who it was. Sting was no where to be seen. Maybe he went home, maybe he was somewhere in the building.

There was a soft knock on the door. Loke slowly opened the door, shaking his head at her disheveled look. Her hair was in messy waves, lips swollen from her rough makeout session with Sting the previous night (which Loke tried to forget). He walked up to her, tilting her head up to pull her in for a soft kiss, but she turned away.

"We've discussed this, Loke," when she turned to meet his gaze, there was a smirk on his lips. He crawled over her, causing her to lay back on the soft mattress, his hands on either side of her, and one knee parting her legs. Lucy frowned, "Loke, stop."

"You know, you almost blew your cover. And there I was, your knight in shining armor, to save you," Lucy's eyes widened, but regained composure. Her hands tried to push Loke away, but the bronze haired bachelor was already placing soft kisses at the base of her neck, freeing one hand to caress the areas of her body that he knew would give him a reaction. Lucy arched her back, giving him the opportunity to move one hand on the bare skin of her back. A soft moan escaped her lips as he pulled her up, their hips meeting.

"No, Loke—" The door slammed open, an angry blonde male marching forward and pulled Loke away from his girlfriend, before landing a fist on his face.

"Don't fucking touch my girlfriend!" Sting grabbed Lucy's hand roughly, and dragged her out the door, ignoring the questioning looks and glares given by those in the kitchen, tending to their hangovers.

"Sting, you're hurting me," Lucy tried to break free, but to no avail. She looked back, hoping to catch a glimpse of Loke to send him an apology, but saw no sign of him. She glared at Sting, whose back was turned to her, as he dragged her towards a limousine. "Let go of me!" Before she could say more, she was pushed roughly into the car, Sting following after. The car lurched forward, the driver hidden by a tinted glass that separated them from him or her.

She turned to her boyfriend, about to argue, but stopped. Her eyes locked with his that burned with a fiery intensity. Her back was suddenly on the leather seat, while his body hovered over hers. In the next moment, His lips were moving against hers, softly, and then roughly. Teeth scraped her bottom lip, and tongues were fighting for dominance.

It had to stop, but she could not bring herself to tell him so. He was angry, she could tell, but why did that fact bring a tingling sensation deep within her belly. There was hunger in his eyes, and it made her feel so inferior, so submissive. And then, there was something amidst to confusion, like he was lost, trying to search her for the answer.

"Shit!" Sting cursed, pulling away from her. He combed a hand over his spiky blonde hair, leaning back onto the seat. He covered his eyes with a hand, gritting his teeth together, while Lucy watched, surprised by his actions. Slowly, she pushed herself up, unsure of what to make of the sudden turn of events.

She wanted to yell at him; to scold him for being so rash. But she couldn't. She herself was confused. She was angry with herself for getting carried away in that kiss. She was angry that she sort of liked it, and that blush she tried to suppress was enough proof of feelings that she did not want to dig deeper into.

Her eyes momentarily lingered at the blonde man beside her, but he was still thinking to himself. She then pretended to admire the blurred buildings and landscapes they passed by through the window, but her thoughts were far from that. What exactly happened?

First, she refused Loke. She never refused Loke, although they have already discussed that their sexual relationship would come to an end during her relationship with Sting, he always managed to find ways to persuade her. Lucy tried to reason that it was for Yukino. She could vaguely remember the Aguria heiress flirting with Loke the night before. But she knew better. It was not because of Yukino, it was because of Sting. After everything that happened, all his compliments, she was afraid to go behind his back.

Lucy frowned, focusing on her reflection in the window. Who cares about his opinion? Who cares about his feelings? The point of their relationship was so she could use him against his family. But what did he ever do to you? He does not deserve it. Her frown only deepened as her thoughts became her conscience. Her brown eyes returned to Sting. He deserve nothing that she was giving him. But each time she closed her eyes, the same images flashed in her mind. Her mother, dying, in the hands of his father.

"Hey," It was a long five minutes of silence before he finally spoke, "Sorry… about earlier." She was not sure if he was apologizing for what he did to Loke or for the kiss.

Lucy looked out the window, "It's okay." She nearly jumped when she felt a large hand move over hers. Their eyes met. And he slowly placed one hand over her shoulder, pulling her close. Reluctantly, she leaned against his chest, heat emanating from his body. It was awkward, but comfortable at the same time. Why was she feeling this way?

"I'm meeting up with Rogue. The driver will take you back to the mansion."

"Actually, there's somewhere I have to go. I'm going to leave after I get cleaned up."

Sting's eyes narrowed, "Where?"

Lucy rolled her eyes, "Don't get your panties in a bunch. I just have to meet up with an old friend."

The car pulled to a stop. Sting stepped out, about to leave but leaned down once more. He cupped her face between his hands and pressed his lips against hers. Something stirred within Lucy, but it disappeared as soon as Sting pulled away, closing the car door behind him.

"The Lucky L. Company…" Rogue rummaged through the few pieces of papers on his desk until he found the one he was searching for. "Here we go. According to my research, The Lucky L. Company is a company that focuses on marketing and advertising. It is currently run by Rufus Lhor, passed to him by Jude H. Unfortunately, His surname was never released to the public, and we were unable to get access to his records. On the brighter side of things, I found that the company has invested in producing its own, small, private weapons. Only the main family of the company is allowed to have access to their weapons, as well as extended family. Ownership of these weapons means that one way or another, you are associated with the company's family."

Sting smirked at his friend's last sentence as he looked at the carefully, hand-engraved pistol in his hand. "Lucy Heartfilia...She could be the daughter of Jude H…Jude Heartfilia. I see, that's why her name sounded so familiar..." But no matter how much joy he felt for possibly solving a piece of the puzzle that was his current and all too sudden girlfriend, he was beginning to wish he hadn't. At the back of his mind he knows that Lucy is simply using him for something. However, what ever that something is, he has yet to figure out.

"The fact of the matter is that this involves you and your family. Don't let your attraction for her distract you from her true objective." Rogue stoically lectured his partner, which was followed by a roll of Sting's eyes. "There is a high possibility that what happened at the party with Minerva was all planned out by your girlfriend."

"I know that much, Rogue. I'm going to make sure she regrets ever toying with me. This is more about that than it is about whether or not she plans to humiliate my father and sister. That I can care less about." Sting stood up, grabbing the folder, and quickly made his way out of the room. He could not help the frown that fell on his face at the information that Rogue had given him. Just when he was almost certain Lucy was beginning to open up to him, this happens.

He reached for the cellphone in his pocket and pressed call on Lucy's number. The call went straight to her voicemail, something that struck him as odd. She did say she had matters to attend to, but it was strange for her phone to be turned off. His eyes narrowed in annoyance. Looking through his contacts, he pressed the call button.

"Sir?"

"Kiyoshi, Did you drop off Lucy to wherever she was going?" It was his limo driver.

"Yes, sir."

"Where exactly did she head off to?"

"The Fairy Tail building at the center of the city, sir."

Sting raised an eyebrow, as he hung up and placed his phone back in his pocket. What the hell was Lucy doing in the Fairy Tail building? Was she there to see someone? His teeth clenched together in anger. He disliked Fairy Tail, especially the co-president of the company, Laxus Dreyar. It wasn't because they fought. They just knew right away that they could never get along.

The sound of the door sliding open and close was beginning to annoy Lucy. She was starting to think that the reason why she was still waiting was because Laxus was getting back at her. The moment she gave the receptionist her name and called him to let him know, she was told to sit on the chair and wait. Wait she did. Two hours passed and everyone else that was waiting and those who came after her have already left. It was already late in the afternoon and the sun was slowly setting.

"Ms. Heartfilia?" Lucy looked up at the brunette receptionist. She was giving her a forced smile and the blonde could not help but think that this was the kind of girl Laxus would mess around with. She was pretty, with bright green eyes. She had somewhat of a baby face, but pretty nonetheless. "Mr. Dreyar can see you now."

"Finally," Lucy did not bother to hide her annoyance, glaring as she walked passed the receptionist. It was twenty floors up before she found herself in front of Laxus' door, with a gold plated sign that read "Co-president: Laxus Dreyar." Lucy took a deep breath and knocked softly on the wood.

"Come in." Another breath and she slowly opened the door. The first thing she noticed was that Laxus was not alone. Evergreen, Bixlow, and Freed were standing beside him like guards. Like they always did in high school. This image did little to ease the sudden nervousness she felt. Their "leader" was seated on a chair behind a desk. He had messy, spiky, blonde hair that flew in all directions, and just like always, he had his headset over his ears, but it was quite obvious his music was not playing.

Lucy took another deep breath, "I see you guys are as friendly as ever." She smiled, not waiting for any one of them to offer her a seat and took one anyways. She sat right in front of Laxus' desk, where there were, as expected, two leather seats so conveniently placed. His office was simple. There was his polished, wooden desk, a file cabinet, a bookshelf with very few books, and a small lounge area just before Laxus' desk. there were paintings hung on the three white walls, and a breathtaking view through the wall size glass window just behind him.

Her eyes met golden ones. Laxus leaned back on his chair, and comfortably placed his feet on his desk, "It's been a while, Lucy. I didn't think I would see you ever again."

Lucy rolled her eyes, "I'm sure you were hoping you never had to."

Laxus frowned, "What exactly brings you here. princess?"

"Actually, I'm here for a favor from Freed," the decoder looked startled at the mention of his name, "There are somethings I was hoping he could take a look at."

"And why should I let one of my best men help you? What's in it for us?" Lucy's eyes narrowed at Laxus' observation. "You seriously didn't come here asking for a favor and expect it to go your way, did you?" A loud laugh surrounded the large, empty room. "Then tell me, what is this all about?"

Right. She had almost forgotten that she never did tell Laxus about her mother. She supposed that there was no harm in telling even just a hint of her objective. "Fine, but I'm only doing this because I absolutely need Freed's help. This is about my m—"

The door slammed open. All four people in the room turned, surprised, at the sound of wood hitting the wall. Sting walked in, his eyes narrowed at the man at the center of the room. Then his gaze traveled to Lucy, who immediately stood up, "Sting! What are you doing here?"

There was a growl behind her as Laxus stood up, holding up a pistol in his hand, pointed at Sting. Evergreen, Bixlow, and Freed tensed, their hands hovering over their own weapons. Lucy panicked, placed her hand down to slightly lift up her skirt, but found nothing at the strap. Her eyes widened. Where was her gun?

"What the hell are you doing here, Eucliffe?!" Laxus did not move his weapon or his gaze. "Are you forgetting this is my territory?!" His eyes were dark with anger and hate.

Sting did not seem fazed, but his eyes burned with a fury Lucy has never seen before. It made his reaction from the morning seem tame. "I'm here for my girlfriend. Frankly, I don't give a fuck if this is your territory."

"Girlfriend?!" Laxus' gaze shifted to the blonde female who was currently being held by the waist by Sting. "You're his girlfriend?! Are you fucking kidding me?!"

Everything seemed to happen in slow motion. Lucy forcefully pulled Sting away, while, Freed and Bixlow tried to restrain Laxus from attacking Sting. It must have been a coincidence, because she had no reason as to why she used herself as a shield. She saw Laxus unknowingly pull the trigger and it aimed right at the man whose family she despised. Why she jumped to take the shot was a question she could not answer. There was a pain at the back of her shoulder, and two strong hands were holding her tight. She saw two blue eyes looking frantically down at her, but she was not sure. Her eyesight was becoming blurred, and she could not understand what he was saying. What they were saying. She felt weak, like her energy was being drained, and no matter how hard she tried to keep her eyes open, she just could not do it. She was too weak, she needed sleep.
