Steve left HQ and went back to his apartment. He sat down on his couch and thought about how to break the news to Madison. He loved her. He didn't want to leave her, but he liked fighting and serving his country. He couldn't do that here in New York. He'd never been to DC before. He looked at the time and jumped up. He left the apartment and jogged three blocks to Madison's apartment. He just prayed she was alone. He ran up the stairs and stopped at her apartment door.
Madison was watching TV when the doorbell rang. She got up and was shocked to find Steve at the door. "Steve, what's wrong?" she asked.
He didn't say anything. He grabbed her face and kissed her. He walked her back into the apartment and shed his jacket. When he grabbed onto Madison's, Madison realized what Steve wanted.
She pulled back. "Steve, maybe we should talk about this", she said.
"No. I want you Madison", he said. His crystal blue eyes were dark and his pupils were blown wide with arousal.
She simply nodded and Steve picked her up.
He carried her to her bedroom, his eyes never leaving hers.
Steve woke up first the next morning. He got up and started making coffee. This morning, Steve was going to tell her. He prayed she would understand.
Around 10:00, Madison got up and noticed Steve was gone. She got out of bed and found him in the living room. "Good morning", she said. She took the cup of coffee from Steve and leaned up and kissed him.
Steve didn't say anything.
"Steve, what's wrong?" she asked him.
"S.H.E.I.L.D's new base is being built in DC", he told her.
"Yeah. I knew that", she said, "Daddy told me".
"Well…Fury wants me to go down there", Steve said.
"Cool! When do we leave?" she asked him.
"Fury wants me to go down there…alone. Without you", Steve said.
Madison's face fell. "What?" she asked, "But I don't understand".
"Fury doesn't…you're not an agent anymore Madison", Steve tried to explain.
Madison's eyes narrowed and Steve knew an argument was about to start. "So you thought, "Hmm…I love Madison, but I'm going to leave…Might as well pop her cherry"?" she asked him.
"Madison, it wasn't like that", Steve told her.
"Then how was it, Steve?!" she yelled, "You knew you were going to leave me, but you slept with me anyway?! You were my first! I've never loved anyone like I love you! How could you do this to me?!"
"Madison…" Steve said stepping towards her.
"No. Get out", she growled.
"But Madison…" Steve pleaded.
"GET. OUT", she repeated, "I never want to see you again".
Steve quietly gathered his things.
Madison pushed him out the door and slammed it in his face. When the door was shut, Madison slid down the door and burst into tears.
"Madison, please listen to me", he begged her.
Madison didn't answer. She got up and took a bath and scrubbed her skin raw. She wished she could forget last night.
It had been perfect and Steve had ruined everything.
