Hedgie Hanyou: I know what you mean; I agree that OC's turns me off from reading certain stories at times. That's why Rascal will be the only OC in this story. I want this to strictly be Sonic characters only. If there was already a character that had the traits I wanted in Rascal, then he actually wouldn't had existed, lol! Thank you! :)

Amyluver99: Thanks! Yeah, the moment he met Tails…oops, Miles…they were totally going to be roommates! HAHA!

WhiteTiger246: Thanks for reviewing! Your one of my favorite authors to follow! :)

SxRsilver: That's the least I can do for you guys reviewing! And thank you! :D

Guest: My old story, "For Rich or Poor", is still in "writer's-block" mode for me, sadly. I wrote that story when I was younger. My writing has matured now, and it seems if I continue it, the way I write now won't fit in. x( I'll start trying one day! :)

You guys are inspiring me to update more frequently than ever,

Thank you for all of the reviews :')

Also, thank you to my new followers! Hope I don't disappoint you! :)

Let's get number 5 rolling! (Also, trying a new format just this once...)

Pat,

Pat,

Pat.

Damn rain drops. The noises guys were making outside were already a distraction. Now this rain comes in out of the blue, which really ticked me off. I tried to wrap my pillow around my face to block out the outside, but it was no good. Really, being next to the window doesn't help me either!

Maybe if I asked Miles to switch beds with me for the night, then—

What am I saying! The fox was fast asleep, along with the hot-head on the other side of the room, snoring like he didn't have 2 other people in here trying to get some rest. Well, Miles may already be used to it, but I for one am not!

It sucks having to be the newbie who has to get the leftovers.

I looked at the clock above our door; twelve fifty-seven A.M.

12:57 A.M!

"Is it that late?!" I whispered to myself, punching the pillow, "I'm hungry though…!"

For my dinner, Knuckles decided to order a pizza pie from the pizzeria place down the street. Sure it filled me up, but that was around seven o' clock. Six flipping hours ago,

"I can't survive through the night like this," I moaned under my breath like a little brat. "I'm not going to make it…"

Pat! Pat! Pat! Pat! Pat!

The rain outside soon fell harder, making it seem the water will break through the window at any given second. That was the last strike for me to go to sleep…

I got my butt out of bed and headed to the door. Outside next to our room was where Miles had left the pizza box for it to be picked up by tomorrow morning. I wanted to see if there were any more slices left for me to dig into.

As soon as I opened the door, my eyes widened. Stood there was the same girl that I was with earlier,

Amy…

…Wait, Amy?!

"Uh, I'm sorry!" The girl tugged on her quills nervously, eyes pink and tired. She was in some peach tank top and fluffy blue bottoms. It seemed…cute. "I wasn't expecting you to be in this room!"

"Uh, I wasn't expecting you to be here at this time of the night,"

"Eh, I wanted to ask Tails if he knew where Cosmo was. But I see you boys are sleeping so…" Amy took a step back, sheepishly, "I'll…I'll, um, just leave now…"

Awkward.

Is it wrong for a guy beginning to crush on a girl he just met, somehow? Even if she did walk out on all of us today…still, the feeling wasn't going away for me…Hnnnn.

But before she had the chance to go, I reached out for her arm. Surprised, she whipped her head around and looked at me with a worried look.

"Sonic…I'm sorry!"

"Huh?" For a second I thought she was apologizing for intruding in the middle of the night, but I asked anyways, "What for?"

Her ears flattened, looking down to my shoes, "I'm saying sorry for what I did to you earlier, and not giving it a thought that I was in the wrong. Being stubborn as I was, I left without saying goodbye to you guys. I left… with Shadow…"

"Yeah…" I looked away when I heard his name, but I shook it off anyways. "Hey, don't sweat it, though! Forgive and forget, right?"

Amy bit her lip, but she curved a small smile. "I guess so. But I was still wrong. I didn't have the courage to tell all of you how sorry I was when I saw you guys leaving the café." I let go of her arm but still kept my eyes on her as she spoke. "And I guess I wanted to get it off my chest to at least someone."

I nodded my head in understanding, "Did you get to speak to the others?"

"Not exactly… By the time I got back to the dorm, it was ten-fifteen at night. So everyone was sleep. I share a room with Blaze and some other girl named Rouge. That girl wasn't there, but Blaze was. I decided it was the perfect time to talk to her; she didn't want to hear it though."

"Oh."

"I then went over to Cream's dorm. She answered, but she was happier than I expected her to. Well…anyways, after I apologized about what I've done, I caught that Cosmo wasn't around- since they're roommates."

Since she paused I took the time to ask, "So, no clues of where she's at still?"

"No," Amy sadly said.

"Well I would help. However, I don't know Cosmo too well to know what places she would be if she was, let's say, happy, sad, angry, etc."

She looked up at me with her doey eyes, "Yeah, I wasn't expecting you to help…Not that you're not a good helper or anything of the matter!"

I laughed, "Heheh! It's cool, but I wouldn't worry too much about your friend, alright? She seems like a sweet person who wouldn't get into that much trouble tonight. She'll come around hopefully."

Amy rubbed her arm and looked around, "You're right. I should get back to my room, school is tomorrow, and I don't want to sleep in on my classes." She winked and smiled. "I'll see you then."

I winked back. "See you!"

I waved goodbye and closed the door. As I trudged back to my bed I remembered why I had gotten up in the first place—

"…The pizza! Crap!"

It was Friday morning. Not a good day for me starting off…

"Good God! I'm skipping my classes today!" I whined to Miles, who was getting his bag ready.

It wasn't my cup of tea to go to school on Friday's before I moved here, so I always skipped it. I felt exhausted, especially not getting the rest I needed last night. So that was a good excuse for me not to go…right?

"Hm."

"What?"

Miles stopped to look at me. "If I remember correctly, yesterday we filled out your schedule- I don't recall putting morning classes for you for Fridays."

"You have good memory, because I don't remember any of my classes I put down- I mean what you guys put down."

"Are you kidding me?" Miles made a stern look, "Great! I guess I'll have to get the paper back and make a copy for you. You can't be forgetting these things, Sonic, you're in college now. Be mindful of important things like this."

"Alright, mother! I got it!"

"Cute…"

As you can already tell, Knuckles wasn't around…When I got up earlier, Miles notified me that he had went to the gym a couple of blocks down. He didn't sign up for any morning classes for Fridays either.

"I got an excuse, kid. I just transferred here, where everyone and everything was different than my old college. We had our schedules made for us, and we actually kept them."

The fox laughed it off. "Alright. One excuse!"

While we were talking, there was a knock at the door. Miles looked over his shoulder and headed toward it, "I got it!" Just as he opened it, a bat-looking girl came barging in, pushing Miles to the side,

"Where's Chuddles?!"

"Who?" Miles asked.

"Your dumb-ass roommate! Where the hell is he at?"

"Um…" He stepped a bit closer to the girl, "Knuckles…"

The bat crossed her arms and sucked her teeth, "Like I care! He took my headphones, and I want them back!"

I didn't know what to do or say. Who the heck was she anyways? All I know was that I opened my mouth a bit too quickly to stop myself, "They're by his draw. Just go get them."

She pinned her eyes to me, ready to grab me by the throat. What's up with people wanting to hit me when I say something?

"I don't know who you are," her gum she had in her mouth begun to pop inside, "but I hope you're not coming at me with that attitude!"

"You're the one with the attitude!" I got off my bed and walked to where she was, "And I'm their roommate, by the way."

She cocked her head to Miles, putting a hand in front of my face, "Fix your friends' attitude, or I will."

"Listen, I'll just get it for you, okay?" Miles walked-run to the draw and grabbed the pair of headphones. "Here..."

"Thanks!" The bat snatched her headphones, and popped the gum once more, before making her way out. "Pray that you won't run into me the next time, Blue one!"

.SLAM.

The only thing we've done at that moment was to eye each other, dumbfounded.

This was one weird morning to wake up to so far.

.xxXxx (Amy's POV) xxXxx.

"Where the heck is my brush? I'm running late here!" I panicked, rushing back and forth across the room.

My morning started off bad; me literally rolling off the wrong side of my bed, between that and the wall, Blaze was still ignoring me, Rouge had ran off somewhere right after she yelled at me about taking her headphones…

Ugh!

"Blaze…come on and just talk to me for just one second!" I whined, rushing to her. "Have you seen my brush?!"

"No I have not, Amy." She hung her tote bag around her shoulder, already to go. "You're just going to have to walk out of here without it…"

I know where she was going with this, and I really didn't have the patience today.

"The only one that's about to walk out without anything here will be you! Now, can you please just-?" I got interrupted with the door hurling open. Rouge was spinning the headphone around her finger, swaying her hips side to side in her signature walk.

"Hey bitches. I've got my headphones!"

"Good to know. Now if you two will excuse me, I have to make it to my first class." Blaze said in monotone. She clutched her bag and headed out, leaving the door open.

When she was at a safe distance, I said, "I…don't know what to do with her. She's so mad at me—"

"I don't care about her…" She eyed me up and down, "Or you, for that matter."

I rolled my eyes for her interrupting me and being straight-up rude. I was never strong of her being my roommate from the beginning. Actually, Blaze wasn't happy for being roommates with her and me. She'd rather be alone and read books. It was good that since the start of August, she had warmed up to me as a friend.

But we do have our days (like now) where we have to stay apart for a while.

This bat, on the other hand, thinks she's better then all of us! She must've had a terrible childhood! The only person from our group that she doesn't be so mean to is Cream…but that's only because she calls her "Ms. Rouge", making her feel all high and mighty and shit.

Seeing Rouge crash on our mini couch, I shook the thoughts off and got my bag, "Don't you have work today, Rouge?"

"Get off my back!"

"It was a simple question…"

"Fine, I do…but I come to work whenever I please."

"How do you get the special treatment?" It was my turn to go to the door, "The manager of the café seems very strict, you know."

"It's cool, Honey. We…have a special connection." She winked at me and smirked.

When she winked, I felt shivers going down my back. If she's saying I think she's saying…"Rouge, are you like…?"

"You should be going!"

Biting my bottom lip, I said nothing more. I just rushed myself out the room.

.xxXxx (Sonic's POV) xxXxx.

I left the room with Miles, right after he'd been telling me about that rude girl, who I now know as Rouge, as being the enemy of Knuckles, and an almost-acquaintance to Shadow…in a way.

Cool! One more person I have to be careful with!

Miles sighed, "You shouldn't worry too much of her being around, unless your with Shadow- which I highly doubt you will- or if you go into Amy's room."

The conversation from yesterday came back to me. "That's right; Amy did tell me last night she was roomed with Blaze and that Rouge."

"What? She came by?"

"Yeah, she was looking for…Cosmo."

"What do you mean? Cosmo wasn't around?" Miles asked worriedly.

I just shrugged. "Amy came inside late last night. She went over to Cream's room, but didn't see Cosmo with her."

"That's odd; Cosmo is always in her room by seven o'clock before school. Even on weekend nights."

"Stalker much, man?"

"No!"

I grinned slightly, "Sure, sure. I just hope Amy got enough sleep last night." I gave him a quick look and scratched my quills as soon as he leered at me. "Not that I…care."

"Sure, sure… Oh! Speak of the devil, I see Amy!"

I look at the direction he was pointing to, and felt my heart pounding hard. There she was, walking toward us, but was minding her business, playing with her fingers. Not paying any attention, I decided to make a move on her.

"If you'll excuse me, Tails…" I patted his shoulder as I made my walk up to her casually. I pretended to bump into the girl by mistake. When I did, my chest had brushed against her nose roughly.

Yes, she's that shorter than I am.

"Oh, goodness!" She gasped, looking up at me with wide eyes, "My fault for not noticing my surroundings!"

"My fault…" I gave her my trademark smirk.

She furrowed her brows, scoffing in the process. "You did that on purpose, you little—"

"Charmer?"

"Not quite," Amy walked around me, "I've been flirted with before. This was one of the tests that were pulled."

"Did it work?"

"I ain't dumb. I'm not looking for a relationship anytime soon!"

"Why?" I thought for a second, "Is it because…you and that fool are still going at it?"

It took Amy a minute before giggling. She shook her head frantically like she couldn't believe it. "You think, because of yesterday, that we're an item?"

I felt like I swallowed a big lump of nothing. I'm so stupid! "…up until you began to laugh. Not really?"

"Shadow's very protective over me, Sonic. We used to date, but we broke up. Now, his feelings for me probably didn't change, but I know mine isn't mutual for him." She took my hand, reassuring me. "We're just friends, and I'll make sure for him to see that too."

Right there, I felt my cheeks heating up. For her being so close to me? Maybe. For her talking ever so sweetly to me? That could be. Or finding out she's not dating that jerk? Either way, I didn't know what to say to her.

Amy released my hand, "Feeling better?"

I finally got my words to come together, "Um, sure. Yeah I am…"

"You're such a kid!" She swatted me, going toward Miles. She kept her eyes on me still. "Nice bumping into you, Sonic!" The fox gave me a glare that read 'What-the-hell?' to me. They then started off the opposite direction.

I stared at them until they were at a distance of disappearing from my sight. I sort of felt better about the situation between her and Shadow, now that she clarified what was going on.

'Whelp, now that I'm alone, I should relax before my afternoon classes start.' I thought. I was just about to head the other way (there was a longue room for the students a couple doors down) when…

"What was going on there?"

I froze in my place, staring at anything but a friendly face before me. "…Shadow!"

"Answer me!"

"Uh…

"What's the matter, Blue? Girl caught your tongue? You seemed pretty confident a minute ago with her…flirting and whatnot!" The ebony hedgehog chuckled with no smile.

"The heck is your deal?" I got frustrated, trying to figure out why he's spied on me. "By the looks of things, it seems she broke up with you. I wouldn't be too surprised of why she did!"

With that comment, Shadow pushed me against the wall, catching me by surprise. The move left a sore pain in my back, but I was mainly focusing on what he was going to do with me next. His beady red eyes fumed with anger and hatred. "I will tell you just this once! Stay away from Rose! You heard her; I shield her from dating other repulsive guys!"

I built the guts to reject him while still pinned, "Don't act like you're doing this for Amy! You're doing this for yourself, so you'll have a better chance of getting with her at the end!"

"Oh! And you're any better of hooking up with her?!"

"I've got more chance then you have! I think that you've stayed long enough to also overhear that Amy wants to only befriends with you. If you love her so much…why not make that happen, hmm?" I made a fake innocent face at him.

"A new guy like yourself would have to find where you belong; because it sure isn't here if you think that you'll come between her and me!" Shadow's grip loosened a bit, but was still strong, "She only said those things to you so you'll feel better about yourself!"

"Wanna fight me then?"

"I'm waiting for your swing, you hog!"

I spotted students looking at the scene we were making. Shadow looked around and saw some people grouping around us to see the show.

"You're lucky we have witnesses here! I would've snapped your whole head around by now!" The hedgehog freed me from his grip, giving me a death glare as he tramped away, scaring students to get out of his way.

In disbelief, I shook my head. I didn't even do anything to this guy for him to hate me the way he does. Two days in and I already found myself some rivals I'm going to be dealing with for the semester.

Sucks.

.xxXxx (Amy's POV) xxXxx.

(…Later…)

Three hours had passed, and I finished four of my classes already. I just have to go to one more class for today, which is at the afternoon. I was just glad to be done with majority of them.

At this time, I was on my break with Tails, Cream, and Rascal outside the café, just sitting on the benches. There was no way I was going inside with Rouge still on shift. The others understood.

"No more classes for me, I'm free for the rest of the day. Ha-ha!" Tails laughed.

"Yeah, but if you don't mind, Tails, I'll like to not celebrate so soon until I'm done with my classes, thank you!" Racal protested with an annoyed look.

"Sorry, Rascal…"

Cream clapped her hands, "Okay, okay! Can we just talk about how Cosmo wasn't in any of my classes today?"

"Oh, my!" Rascal cupped both his cheeks, "She's still missing?"

Tails nodded, "Totally, she either skipped or she's…"

"Kidnapped!"

"Rascal! Don't say that!"

"I'm sorry!"

"That's my next guess, though…" I gave it some thought. "But I won't jump into conclusions until we get some information we need!"

We sat quietly together. I don't know about them, but I was busy thinking of where Cosmo would wander off to without letting me know. Sure, we just met this school year, but months have passed for us to be close enough to tell each other what's up.

"What I would like to talk about now is Sonic!" Cream clapped her hands again, laughing. Sometimes she acts like she's been drinking too much, but that's just her personality.

It's funny, but I was quite scared of it the first time I met her.

"Who's Sonic?" Rascal questioned.

"He's so fine-looking! He probably dated every single girl back at his old college." Cream rocked back and forth, "So…Which girl will he be chasing after next? After all, he does seem like the jock type, right?"

"That didn't quite answer my question."

"I answered it; I said he's 'so fine-looking'!"

"Whatever…"

Both Tails and Cream looked at another, waiting for an answer. With that happening, their eyes suddenly fell on me,

Me?

Tails exclaimed, "Amy!"

Cream gave Tails a high-five. "I was thinking the same thing!"

I wasn't too shocked that they decided upon me being the love target. The guy was flirting with me! Tails saw what was happening earlier. And Cream… she's just desperate for me to get a new boyfriend. I wasn't going to have them think that though. "Hold up! Don't you think that's too…cliché?"

"What's cliché about the handsome ending up with the pretty?" Cream wiggled her brows.

"Hello! Don't you watch television? Movies? How about reading those hopeless romantic novels of yours? It happens all around you, Cream! That's what makes it overly used!"

"Hello! You dated Shadow; the coolest boy on this campus in my opinion…And that's Blaze who reads those stuff!"

Rascal sucked through his teeth, "He is quite the handsome…"

"Yes. Then we broke up!"

"Not too long until you two will hook up."

I opened my mouth to have it clammed back shut again. Cream does make a good point here. Shadow hasn't, and still won't, let go of me. Like ever! Unfortunately…I was his first friend around here, so he's grown so attached to me. I think his worst fear is to lose me, even when I keep telling him we'll remain close friends.

I sighed, losing the argument to the rabbit. Cream shot her arms up in triumph.

"May I have a say in this fiasco?" Rascal cut in, "I don't know about this 'Sonic' boy, but if youdo end up with Shadow in the end, make sure it's not out of pity, and that you actually love him."

"What?"

"Exactly what I just said; don't hook up with him because you're afraid he'll keep chasing after you, since you won't be able to date other guys as long as he's around."

"Rascal, I know what I'm doing." I said.

"Okaaaay…" He quoted with his fingers.

"Ehm, how did we jump from the topic about Sonic, to Shadow?" Tails asked.

All I had to say was, "Cream."

"Don't pin this on me. I asked a question. You guys answered. There we go!"

We sat quietly once again; this time, it felt awkward. Tails decided to speak up next, "Did you make up with Blaze or Silver yet?"

"Uh-oh…what happened this time, Amy Rose?" Rascal sassed me.

"She stormed out this shop yesterday with Shadow. Right after Blaze told her off." Tails confirmed to the wolf, before I had the chance to tell my side.

"Again? Why do you keep doing this?!"

"Well," Cream defended me, "Blaze was harsh to her, so I wouldn't really blame Amy for what she did."

"Thank you!" I said, delighted someone was actually agreeing with me.

"I'm sure you'll make up with them sooner or later, anyways." Rascal said as he stood up, everyone else following his steps. "Otherwise, it'll be difficult for me to choose sides."

"Rascal… you share a room with Silver." I said, occurring to me.

"I know" He looked puzzled. "I knew that since the beginning of August!"

"…"

"Was there a point to that?"

This guy is so clueless…"Did Silver, like, say my name while you were with him?"

"Oh!" He laughed but then shook his head. "Not quite. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen the guy last night or this morning."

Tails, Cream and I were stunned to hear this sudden news. Like I did, Cream put her hands on her hips, "When were you going to tell us?!"

"Nobody here asked me!"

Tails planted his face with his hand, "And It didn't dawn on you to say something, just when we were talking about Cosmo missing?"

"…"

I flopped back down on the bench, defeated, "I'm starting to think if this has something to do with what I did."

Not only Cosmo was missing, but now Silver?

"I don't think it's you." Cream rubbed my head, messing my quills up.

"Let's think positive." Tails suggested, putting on a smile for me. "They're probably at the local library. Or they're in one of their clubs."

I smiled back at my friend. Wherever they really are, I hope that it's not from anger with me. "I really need to control my temper in the future. I don't want my attitude to cost our friendship."

"Awe, Amy…"

.:A/N:.

I had to end it here. I didn't expect to write so much for this chapter. Whew!

This was, however, fun! So no complaints from me…

So…Sonic and Shadow… finally got to speak with another…not a pretty start

I finally got to Rouge. (Her personality is, well, bitchy. But it's not towards only Amy, but she's like that with everyone. Probably even to her parents too) :D

You'll find out why, along with some of the others back stories, later on…

The next chapter will maybe come sometime next week, depending how long I'm making it. (I'm currently writing it now.)
