Hey guys! Sorry it's been so long since I updated. I've been working on another story, wrapping up another one, sports and school! So here's chapter 6!…..Enjoy!3
Jeromes' POV
I didn't know what was happening while Trudy and I were driving to the hospital. My eyes were blury from the tears that were in my eyes. I closed my eyes and tried to calm myself down, knowing that Nina was strong and will survive. She had to.
Once we got to the hospital I ran out of the car and up to the women at the desk.
"I'm looking for my girlfriend. Nina Martin. She was admitted here tonight. Where is she?"
"Jerome, let me talk to the women about Nina. Now go sit down and take a deep breath. Okay?"
"Okay Trudy, I'll go sit down."
I sat down in the waiting room with my hands shaking in my lap. Some sweat gather on my face, I took hands and wiped the sweat off. I took a deep breath trying to do what Trudy told me and calm down. I knew I wouldn't be doing Nina any good if I was an emotional wreck.
I looked around the waiting room. The walls were plain white and filling the seats were either loved ones waiting to have their world pulled out from under them or saved. Every second felt like hours to me.
After about 10 minutes of waiting Trudy came up to me and I jumped up from my chair. I bombard Trudy with questions about Nina. She 'shhhed' me, put her hand on my shoulder and sat me down.
"Jerome, I talked to the doctors about Nina. She's in critical care right now and is in a coma. The doctor said that they expect her to wake up within a week, but they aren't sure though."
"How bad was it? The cut?"
"They said it was really bad. She hit a major vein in her forearm around her elbow. They said she also lost a lot of blood."
"I don't understand how? Why? She was doing so well. I didn't know it was this bad…I had no idea.." I sat down in my seat and buried my head in my hands.
"Jerome sweet pea I know. I didn't know how bad she was either. Sometimes it's hard to know how bad someone's minds is until it's too late. But Nina's a strong girl, look how far she's made it, she'll get through this. But she'll need us more than you know."
I took a deep shaky breath in, trying to calm myself once again.
Two weeks later
Nina woke up a week ago, I've been able to see her once or twice but most of the time she'd be half awake half asleep. She apologized to me for what she had done and how sorry she was that she scared me. I told her not to be sorry, but I wanted her to feel better soon and not harbor any guilt. I went back to school, barely getting by. One night when I was visiting Nina she told me to give her some of her homework and we could work on it together, she was the most responsive that night.
No one in the Anubis house really cares, they asked how she was once. Amber and Joy pestered questions on "what did she do now?", Trudy told them she tripped down the stairs in the attic, losing a lot of blood by cutting herself on a piece on glass on the stairs that was meant to replace a window in her room. They bought it and went on with their perfect lives.
I was in the living room when I heard the main door open. I heard hush voices and two sets of foot steps. I knew it was probably one of the girls or the other couples in the house. I was doing finishing up my homework, Alfie was texting Amber and they were fighting, so I moved instead of having to hear another one of their ridiculous fights.
As I was about to finish my homework when I felt a pair of arms wrap around me. Then I felt a pair of lips kiss my cheek. I chuckled a little and turned my head to look at Nina. I smiled at her and gave her a peck on the lips.
"Well, hello to you to."
"When did you decide to tell me you were coming home?"
"It was kinda a last minute decision. The doctors decided that since the last few days I've been doing so well that I could come home, but I have to take it easy."
"Fine by me. As much as I want to get totally lost with you, I have about 5 more minutes then I'll need you in your room. Okay?"
"Okay." She gave me a quick peck on the cheek and walked up stairs.
Time Break
I pulled Nina into a long kiss. As we pulled apart I saw her lovely smile.
"We finally did it."
"Yes, we finally did. Can you believe it? We're getting out of here."
"Yes we are Nina. Wasn't it worth it to stay?"
"Yes, it was. I'm happy you found me Jerome."
"Me too Nina. Now when do you want to leave? You want to stay for the graduation party at Anubis? Or do you want to leave now?" I asked her with a smile, she looked so cute in her graduation cap and gown.
"I think we should stay for some of the party so say bye, then we'll leave. Let's pack the car before the party. That okay?"
"Perfect. Let's get started, shall we?"
"We shall." She said with a little laugh and smile. We walked with our hands intertwined back to the house. I kissed her when we reached the staircase and I walked into my room and finished up packing the last of my things. I sighed, this would be the last time I was going to be in 'my room', someone else would be living here. I smiled a little to myself and closed my last suitcase.
I got dress for the party in a simple white button down oxford and dark blue jeans. I walked up to Nina's room and saw her back to me. She was wearing a black cocktail dress; it went down to her mid thigh, it was one shouldered, and hugged her body just right. She turned around and greeted me with a smile. I looked at her and my eyes drifted to the dresses sweet-heart neck line. I forced myself to look back up at her gorgeous eyes and smiled.
"Do you mind zipping up my dress?" She said while turning around.
"Of course love."
I stepped forward and zipped up her dress. I kissed her neck and then her cheek. She turned around and gave me a big hug; I hugged her back, pulled back, and kissed her lips.
"You ready to go down? Party just started."
"Yeah, let's go down."
We walked down the stairs and joined everyone in the common room. Everyone from the house was there, including some of our other peers that were from other houses. We moved around talking to some people making small talk. We ended up talking to Mick and Mara for a while.
Since the day when Nina came back to the hospital she's been trying to step out of the darkness. She and Mara started to become close friends. Mick and I have become more friendly with each other, I might call us friends, just maybe.
I walked over to Alfie and we started talking. I saw Fabian walking over to us.
"Hello Alfie, Jerome."
"Hey Fabian." We both said.
"Have you guys seen Joy?"
"No, sorry."
"Yeah, well she was with Amber a second ago. Guess now she isn't."
"Okay, thanks Alfie."
With that Fabian walked around looking for Joy; I don't know why someone go looking for an emotional train reck, but he did. I looked back at Alfie and we continued our conversation. Amber soon joined in with her 'boo bear'-ing and such. With that I said goodbye, not particularly interested in her gossip-whining she was in the middle of. I walked over to Nina, who was still in conversation with Mara, saying goodbye to her so she could talk to her other friends.
"Nina, you ready to go?"
"Yes Jerome, I am. Can you tell me where we're going though?"
"Well, if you want to ruin the surprise then okay. First we're spending sometime at my family's summer house. Then we're going to America to go see your friend Amy. I've never met her in person so I feel like I should since.."
I was interrupted by Nina crashing her lips to mine. I melted into the kiss, not caring is people were looking at us.
"Jerome, hat's wonderful. Let's go."
We both said goodbye to Trudy and promised to keep in touch. We jumped into the car and I started driving to our destination. It was a honor to Nina's shining light in her time of darkness and I hope she never goes back because I love her too much. And the case with the ring in my pocket was proof of that.
The End.
So what'd you guys think? Should I do a sequel? If so, any ideas? Hope you guys enjoy this story and sorry for the long gaps in between updates.
