Time had quickly transitioned from dusk to dawn in the blink of an eye. Everyone became acquainted with the newly-added Mii Fighters and welcomed them into their little Smashing family. All seemed well at first, but it wasn't until a certain blond princess noticed that a couple of Smashers were missing that things felt a little off.
"Zelda?" Peach asked the regal Hylian.
"Yes, Peach?"
"Have you seen Pit anywhere?"
"You mean that angel kid? Yeah, I saw him a while ago," Zelda answered, nodding. "I heard that he's up in Skyworld doing some training with Link."
Peach raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "Training? Sounds like someone is getting a head start!" she laughed.
Meanwhile, in the cloud-plagued land of Skyworld, a green-haired deity stood in a temple-like structure, watching her angelic servant spar with a pointy-eared knight. She was rather astounded by the ability the knight displayed.
"This fighter from Hyrule is quite impressive indeed," she remarked, "for a mere mortal…"
She continued to observe the battle as Pit and Link continued to duke it out. Pit fought hard and bravely with the bow Palutena bestowed upon him, while Link wielded his trusty Master Sword.
As their weapons of choice clashed with each other, Pit exclaimed, "Nice try! You're NOTHING compared to the underworld army!"
Filled with bravery and confidence, Link prepared to slash Pit with his sword, but the angel reacted straightaway and jumped back to avoid contact with the sharp blade. He lunged himself into the air with the power of flight as Link misfired multiple arrows. Pit fired a few arrows himself, but Link swiftly dodged them all, firing the grip of a hook shot at his opponent. With a metal grip on his leg that hurriedly brought him closer to Link's range, Pit hesitated for a brief moment before slicing the black chain with Palutena's bow. Running out of options, the Hylian decided that he had no choice but to resume swinging his powerful blade until he landed a hit. When all else failed, Link immediately spun his sword around, but Pit quickly dodged that as well, much to the Hylian's dismay.
With the versatile angel's back to him, the green knight suddenly and forcefully shoved him far ahead of himself with the boot-covered sole of his foot. Taken by surprise and not given much time to react, Pit helplessly tumbled on the rough surface of the ground while screaming in terror in the process. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Link flung a tornado-creating boomerang at the vulnerable angel, who looked up to see the flying projectile drawing closer and held up an arm in defense.
Just as he braced himself for the impact, a sudden force blocked the boomerang's path and prevented it from inflicting pain on him. Out of curiosity, Pit opened one eye and dropped his defense to see what halted Link's attack…It was Palutena!
"Huh? Lady Palutena?" he began to ask.
"Oh, I'm not here to save you, Pit," she responded. She activated the Wings of Icarus, which sent Pit straight up into the air. "I'm here for a little, uh…divine intervention!" she said with a smile. Link stomped his foot angrily, ready to face his next challenger.
"Wait…You wanna fight too, Lady Palutena?" Pit asked as the new battle commenced.
"I'm no stranger to fighting. Have you forgotten that time we fought each other?"
"Well, yeah, sure, but that was when-"
"Enough, Pit. It may be confusing now, but I'll explain everything soon. Perhaps you'd like to see some of the powers I will use to protect you!" She went on to demonstrate her huge array of moves. "Heavenly Light! Explosive Flame! Warp! Rocket Jump! Reflect! Jumpglide! Counter! Superspeed! Angelic Missile! Celestral Fireworks! Lightweight! Black Hole! Mega Laser!"
Impressed by his Lady's astounding moveset, Pit stated, "You don't have to prove anything to me, Lady Palutena!"
Unbeknownst to them, Viridi was observing the entire scene. In response to Pit, she scoffed, "Humph! Looks like angels only talk big!"
Palutena replied to Pit, "Many worthy foes have gathered here…and I won't hold back on anyone."
Many worthy foes…Won't be holding back on anyone…Pit repeated to himself. Could that mean…?
"Lady Palutena? Does that mean you're...?" There was a long, dramatic pause. "…Joining Super Smash Bros.?"
Palutena only winked at him and slightly giggled. "You'll have to find out for yourself, Pit!" When the match between Link and herself concluded, she sighed heavily from exhaustion. That sure was an exhilarating battle! And she knew that there would only be more to come!
Suddenly, Pit's dark doppelganger descended behind her, and she became aware of his presence with her sixth sense. "Dark Pit…You just dropped in to crash my party?"
With a menacing grin and rebellious attitude to boot, Dark Pit replied, "Uh-huh!"

Here's the next chapter, everyone! I'll have to admit, I wasn't expecting Palutena to appear in the game as anything other than a trophy. Looks like her fans finally got what they wanted! Also, I wanted to inform you that the chapters may get shorter as the Super Smash Bros. 3DS release date gets closer, but that means every day is one less in which we have to wait for the game!
Another thing I wanted to get off my chest is that two new Smash Bros. stories are on the way! One is the babysitting Pit story, and the other is about Pit going missing and getting adopted by a suburban family. I hope you look forward to them!
