Mario, Mega Man, and Sonic…A trio like that may only come around once in a lifetime. Only in Smash Bros., a game in which characters from multiple universes battle one another, can such an iconic trio come together and duke it out. Even the characters themselves became ecstatic just thinking about it.
The red plumber, blue bomber and blue blur sat comfortably in a fast-food restaurant with each other as they helped themselves to a mushroom, E-Tank, and chili dog, respectively.
"Dude, this is legendary! The three of us coming together will be talked about for years to come!" Sonic happily remarked as he bit into his chili dog.
"I-a know! This-a year's tournament will-a be so much-a fun!" Mario replied.
"I can't wait to show off my Final Smash!" Rock chimed in. "It really pays homage to all the series in the Mega Man franchise. Just think of all the matches I'll win with it! I might even be a better fighter than you, Sonic!"
Sonic laughed, "Hey now, don't get cocky! Don't think that just because you're new that I'll go easy on you!"
"That's-a right! As a newcomer, you should-a let veterans like us-a teach you how to be a formidable fighter-a!"
Rock nodded. "You guys may be right. I'm getting a little too ahead of myself. I haven't even been in an actual match before."
"Don't worry," Sonic reassured, patting him on the back. "Once we teach you the ropes, you'll get the hang of it! And I'm looking forward to seeing that Final Smash of yours!"
Rock grinned at him for a second, but then turned his attention to a large, yellow ball that suddenly rolled into the restaurant and stopped at their very table. "Guys…what is that?"
The plumber and hedgehog shrugged their shoulders. At the moment, it only appeared as a yellow ball, so the Smashers' guesses as to why was there was just as good as anyone else's. They eyed it cautiously as it began to wiggle and squirm like a worm, then proceeding to create an unfinished, horizontal slit on itself to form the shape of a mouth. The Smashers' eyes widened and pupils dilated.
Sonic slowly held up a pointed finger. "I…Is that…?"
The ball rattled some more, then a somewhat-elongated, cylinder-shaped nose sprung out from above the mouth, followed by cartoon-y eyes and pointy eyebrows. To top things off, the face-bearing sphere sprang into the air and sprouted arms with orange gloves and legs with red shoes. After safely landing onto its feet, the anthropomorphic orb smiled and waved to the still-bewildered Smashers. All they could do was speechlessly stare at what stood before them, while the being in question dug into its pocket and brought out a very familiar-looking envelope.
"Hi there, fellas!" it greeted. "I seem to have received this letter saying that I was invited to join Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. Do either of you happen to be affiliated with it, by any chance?"
Trying to hide his obvious astonishment, Mario calmly replied, "Why, yes! The three of us-a are in Smash Bros.-a! And as a Smash veteran-a, I would-a like to welcome you to the-a Smash Bros. family!"
"Aw, thanks!" the newcomer responded, blushing. "The name's Pac-Man, by the way!"
Rock's eyes enlarged even more. The Pac-Man as a Smash newcomer?! Along with himself, Sonic, and Mario, that would mean that all four gaming legends would be in the same game together! Whoever would've thought that the world would see the day? In the midst of his realization, Rock fainted and toppled onto the floor.
"Is he going to be okay?" Pac-Man asked.
"He'll be alright," Sonic answered coolly. "He probably just couldn't think of a better way to express his excitement!"
Author Notes: I guess what Mega Man, along with many other people, felt when Pac-Man was revealed just couldn't be expressed in words! XD
On a side note, this will be the last chapter for a while until they reveal another character. Since I pretty much covered all the newcomers so far, my two Pit stories, one of which includes the babysitting story, are the next things on my agenda.
