sorry about not updating sooner but I caught a bad case of writers block,I don't own Dr who ,I'm just a crazed fan.
I would like to thank ms. Stella black for helping me save the master from an awful death and please read her amazing Dr who story about how the master fell in love with Clara called lunatic its really cool!
The Master had been unconscious for a day and a half now, and the doctor feared that his friend would never regain consciousness again!
After he had collapsed in the console room the doctor had rushed him to the medical bay , where he finally managed to restart the Master's inactive heart.
Hoping that the computer hard drive the Master had given him might shed some light on his friends current situation he attempted to open the files on Rose's old computer which she had left in the TARDIS.
Unfortunately though most of the computer files where cleverly encrypted with only a few readable text of staff memos which wouldn't be any help.
The doctor considered using his remaining regeneration energy to heal the master ,but since he was on his 10th regeneration and it would take about 6 to 7 regenerations worth of energy to revive a dying time lord it would certainly do little more than prolong the master's agony and probably kill the doctor as well!
If he couldn't heal the master maybe someone else could he thought as he hurriedly set the coordinates for the sisters of the infinite schism one of the best hospitals he knew of.
To the doctors irritation the tardis materialized in the hospital on new earth a few months prior to his and Rose's visit.
He wasn't to happy having to deal with a hospital that used human clones as lab rats but the master's time was running out, so he would have to turn a blind eye to it ,if he was to save his friend who at death's door!
The master slowly began to regain consciousness, most of the pain was gone ,he just felt really sore all over.
When he open his eyes and was startled to see a cat a few inches from his face!
There are only a few things in the universe that truly frighten the master, the doctor when he used the human race to reverse his age and acquired god like powers, Amy when she was mad,and big humanoid cats!
Probably because of the time he spent on the planet of the cheetah people where he nearly turned unto a cat himself!
He still had nightmares about it occasionally.
Being disoriented and rather frightened by the feline the master did the first thing that came to mind . he hissed at her and began to slap at her paws as she tried to quiet him down.
The doctor came Rushing into the room to see what all the commotion was.
The feline nun looked at the doctor exasperated .
"Would you please tell your friend to stop slapping me ! I swear he's worse than a kitten!"
"Oh you have no idea" the doctor laughed.
"Master,calm down ,everything is fine" the doctor assured his panicked friend as he restrained both of the masters wrist's to keep him from attacking the nun further.
The master stilled momentarily and stared up at the doctor like he expected him to disappear at any moment.
"Sh...she's a cat!" The master mumbled taking a shaky breath allowing the doctor to check his pulse and pull the blanket back on him.
"This is Novice Hame of the sisters of plenitude, you're in the new earth hospital ,she's been curing you of regeneration failure"the doctor explained to the master giving him a stern look that clearly said be polite and behave yourself.
The master swallowed slowly processing the doctors words.
" soo...no cheetah people then?"the master laughed nervously.
"Decidedly not" the doctor said in a more understanding tone of voice.
The master looked up at the cat who was still standing by his bed impassively.
"Sorry about attacking you, novice Hame, I've had an...unpleasant encounter with some..catlike people, so when I woke up and saw a cat I kinda freaked ,thanks for helping me get better" . the master apologised to the nun shocking the doctor, who had never know the master to say 'I'm sorry' for anything in his whole life!
Novice Hame smiled kindly at the master "don't worry about it, many of my kinds subspecies are rather savage and I can understand why my presence my have disturbed you" the cat said before leaving the room.
"You feeling okay?"the doctor asked worriedly placing his hand over the masters forehead to check for fever ,surprisingly he felt cool.
The master pushed the doctor's hand away from his forehead giving him an irritated look
"Quit fussing over me theta, I'm fine"" the master sighed heavily.
The doctor smiled a little bit at that. the masters tough guy act wasn't fooling him for a minute he was obviously still very ill but he decided to let the matter drop.
"H..how long do I have to stay here?" The master asked shivering a bit.
"Till your treatments are finished, two or three days"the doctor informed him.
The master groaned and flopped back on the bed with a dramatic flourish making the doctor bite his tounge to keep from laughing at the masters childish behaviour.
" I don't have the time for this, she doesn't have the time...I should be out looking for her " the master sighed half closing his eyes.
"I promise you, we will find her, but first you need to get well ,you won't do her any good in your current state" the doctor promised in that same tone of voice he had used when he promised to save someone who there was little hope for.
The master stared at this past incarnation of his once best friend and wondered if the doctor was telling him the truth or just saying what he wanted to hear.
He had been betrayed so often that he had come to expect it in every one who claimed to care.
He closed his eyes tiredly, just before he fell asleep the doctor grasped his hand causing his eyes to snap open in surprised by the gesture.
"Koschei, I'll do everything in my power to help your wife, believe me you will see her again...I know what it feels like to lose someone who you love...and I won't let that happen to you!" The doctor assured him and the master knew he wasn't lying to him.
"Thank you" the master smiled back at the doctor briefly before falling asleep again.
The master slept for the most of the next two days only briefly waking to complain about having to wasting time in the hospital, a sure sign that he was getting better.
On the third day the master who was nearly well now was becoming increasingly difficult insisting he was well enough to leave and start the search for his missing wife.
"One more treatment is left, after that we can leave" the doctor firmly told the impatient time lord.
The master stayed quiet for a few minutes knowing the doctor wasn't going to change his Mind.
"Fine then! I'll stay... But.". The master smoothly replied with a smile which clearly said he was up to no good.
" but what ". The doctor asked nervously
" I want you to tell me about rose "
"W..why"
"Scientific curiosity , I'd like to know what kind of girl my best friend fell in love with, and im bored, if I'm going to be stuck in this stupid hospital the least you can do is keep me entertained ...that is if you want me to behave that is,if not ...I bet I could get us thrown out of here pretty quick" The master smirked at the terrified expression the doctor had on his face after a minute the doctor nodded his head.
"Yeah you probably could" he sighed heavily considering the master had told him about Amy it was only fair he told him about rose ,still the thought of opening up to the master made him very uneasy.
But the master was his oldest friend, they had been so close once.
The doctor missed koschei's friendship ,he had wished for this so many times,to just be able to talk with him again, to be friends again.
So the doctor started to tell the master about rose Tyler, the girl who had made him a better man.
He told him about meeting her in a basement of a London shop surrounded by antons and how she saved him from the nestene consciousness , the master winced at the mention of the antons but didn't say anything.
The master raised an eyebrow upon hearing of how the doctor had tortured a Dalek and had been willing to kill it .
The doctor had excepted the master to taunt him about his uncharacteristically vengeful behaviour.
The doctor was thankful when the master said nothing and the doctor continued to explain about bad wolf and the Dalek emperor and how he had died to save his little pink and yellow human.
"Oh that explains a lot " the master said flashing a cheeky grin.
"It explains what" the doctor feigned irritation at the master's interruption.
"Well...this version of you is soo...uh human, when you regenerated in front of rose you must have acquired some of her personality"the master shrugged.
" what's wrong with being a little bit human "? The doctor defended crossing his arms expecting the master to go on a rant on the inferiority of the human race.
" nothing is wrong with it , but it can make you more vulnerable to attacks and things that you would not care about hurt like hell" the master sighed.
"Somehow I don't think we're talking about me anymore,are we?" The doctor half laughed, this new regeneration of his once enemy was full of surprise's.
"What happened after you regenerated? Did she stay with you?" The master asked quickly changing the subject.
Since the master rarely was agreeable the doctor didn't push the matter and just enjoyed sharing his memory's with his oldest friend , he knew with his friend's unstable mind that this might never happen again, but for today he had his best friend back and he would make the most of it.
