Katniss POV

My brothers come running in with some notebook I've seen Peeta have at school. Rye has always been a troublemaker and Wheat attempts to calm him down about 10% of the time but usually just goes along with him. They make it a habit, like most brothers, to snoop through my diary and come barging into my room whenever they please. They are annoying but they are also very protective of me and, typically, when a guy reaches the door to ask me out, they wind up scaring him away with their intimidating build from the many years of wrestling and lifting flour and sugar daily.

"Kat! Kat! Look what we found!"

I then see a scared Peeta chasing behind them. I turn to Prim to see that she is just as amused as I am.

Just then I hear the bell over the front entrance ring, signaling that we have a costumer.

"I will be back to deal with the two of you in a minute," I say, grabbing the notebook from the nosy hands of my annoying big brother and turning towards the front counter.

When I reach the front, I see Madge with a conflicted look on her face. I haven;t seen her this way since she was debating telling me that my ex-crush (Thom, from when I was like 6) had kissed her on the jungle gym. She thought I would be mad at her, even though Thom was twice our size, 3 years older and had trapped her in the bars because he thought she was "cute".

As I approach her, she jumps. Ever since I was little, it was almost impossible for me to make a sound while walking. It comes in handy for the mornings I have to sneak into class because I was late helping my parents finish an order. The teachers don't get mad because they have talked to my parents numerous times, but I still don't like the idea of having lates on my record.

Madge says I'm a goody-two-shoes.

I say she is too.

We know we are both right.

Anyway, back to current time. She stumbles on her words, which is normal for her but also ironic. She is a shy mayor's daughter who has to speak weekly for her father's reelection committee. "I.. You should... We... I like Gale!" she shouts in frustration. Gale Hawthorne, hunter, family-man, is who my best friend is crushing on. He is a really nice guy and is very protective of those he loves, but I don;t see why it was so hard for her to admit.

I have always known she liked Gale. She never wanted to say it because he is not the kind of boy her dad would want her to be with. Her dad, the mayor of our little town, wants her to lead an easy life. Get married. Have kids. No money problems. Gale's family lives in the part of town, often called the "Seam",where the houses are smaller and less expensive than the ones that the business owners' families live.

Anyway, I guess she didn't realize I had Gale's best friend and his little brother's biggest fan in the back room.

And I'm pretty sure they heard.

Suddenly, Peeta comes running out, looking like he won the lottery. "YOU DO?!"

"Uhhh, I , uhhh... do what? What, uhhh, what are you talking about, Peeta?"

"HA! You totally like him. You have to tell him. Like right now. Just give me a minute, let me get my phone. He is going to be ecstatic!"

That is when I finally step out of my little trance. So Gale likes Madge, too?

"Peeta, calm down," I say, trying to coax him out of jumping to extremes. I mean, the girl just admitted for the first time to her best friend that she likes the guy that would totally be the best match for her. "Why don't you invite Gale over here so they can talk a little bit. Madge just admitted to herself after, like, 6 years of denying it. Plus, exactly like I am, she is very shy. She can't just come up to the guy she likes and say, 'Hey, I like you. Maybe we can go out tomorrow'. Try convincing Gale to ask her out?" When I manage to calm him down, I look around and see that Madge

"Easier said than done,"he replies. "Gale is a very stubborn person. If he doesn't want to do something, he won't do it. He has been trying to ask Madge out since 8th grade. He never got up enough nerve to actually talk to her, or her dad. I have desperately been trying for the past 3 years, but nothing works. I'm sorry."

Just as he says 8th grade, I get an idea. In 8th grade, we had graduation and we had to (for the most part) split for high school since we are divided into districts. The schools changed it last year because of budget cuts and fewer kids in some schools, not enough in others. That's why Johanna, Annie, and Finnick, who live in different districts, go to school with us. Since all 4 of us live in District 12, we all went to the same high school before the program change. When we went to the high school, all freshmen have a lock- in to get to know one another. Madge and I already knew each other, so we pretty much just spent the whole time together with another girl named Delly.

Anyway, the lock-in made us become even closer. Maybe a Madge and Gale lock-in could do the same...

After Peeta and I are an the same page with the plan, we get the permission from the school. My dad is close friends with the principal, Haymitch, so that is not a problem. He kinda has a soft spot for me because his wife died before she was able to have any children, so he treats me like his daughter; however, he loves to annoy me by calling me "sweetheart" as many times as he possibly can.

Tonight is when the lock -in begins.

We are going to keep them supplied with water and food for as long as it takes. We have a break for Christmas and so we planned for at least 2 days. we are currently in the office, looking at the security cameras. I told Madge that our teacher, Cinna, needed her to finish a project and Peeta told Gale the sam thing. Madge just opened the door and BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.

Our entire school is automated. The door to the classroom is locked.

They are in.

Okay, I know its late, but i was a little stuck.
