Love and Potions
Hermione was organized. And a Know-It-All but that's not relevant here. She was organized and the annual Potions Conference was popular. So popular that accommodations had to be booked months in advance. Which is what Hermione did, like the good little Gryffindor she is.
Severus was in charge of the registration since he was the membership holder.
And so, the unlikely couple set off in July for Miami, Florida and the McMeedle's Magical Motel. A ridiculous name, but it was the closest wizard hotel to the conference and promised to be clean and comfortable.
However, there was a slight hiccup.
/
"Snape?" Jeanie the front desk receptionist looked through her bookings. "No, sorry. We did have a few overbookings, let me see if you've been placed in the Wyndham…" Some mutterings and Severus scowled at the top of Jeanie's head and Hermione waited patiently.
"Ah, yes, here you are. Mr. and Mrs. Snape, two nights, room 206 in the Wyndham. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. It is a muggle hotel but it's very nice." She smiled. "Jonathan will show you how to get there."
Hermione squeezed Severus' arm when he opened his mouth to complain.
"Come on, it'll be fun."
/
They put down their belongings on the beds and looked around. Severus had to admit, it wasn't bad.
"Well, I'm going to freshen up then we can find some lunch." Hermione walked to the bathroom and opened the door.
Her eyes widened as she looked around. "Severus…"
"What?" Severus asked, expecting a spider or something equally ridiculous.
Well, it was ridiculous alright.
The main feature of the bathroom was a giant, red, heart-shaped, Jacuzzi bathtub. Severus shuddered.
But that wasn't all. The entire room, *and*ceiling was covered with mirrors.
Hermione slowly turned. "Is this, by any chance, the honeymoon suite?"
/
Severus stalked downstairs, determined to right this wrong. That was the most disturbing sight he had ever seen, and he had taught teenagers for over two decades, for Merlin's sake.
As the hotel manager watched the forbidding man stalking towards him, he steeled himself for some very bad news. The handful of people that had showed up today were all a bit strange but this man was intimidating.
He squared his shoulders and asked how he could be of service.
When Severus returned to the room, he found Hermione near his bed, spells flying from the tip of her wand.
/
"Hermione?"
"Hush. I'm busy cleaning this place." She turned her attention to the other bed and began her carefully chosen spells. "I can't believe… I don't even want to know what goes on…" She shuddered again.
Severus tried to not to let his mind go there either. "Well, you were right, this is the honeymoon suite but another couple was meant to have it. Apparently, they mixed up our room numbers."
Hermione stopped cleaning and faced him. "Oh thank Merlin. I couldn't imagine staying here even one night."
Their next room was much nicer. No whimsical bathtubs and mirrored walls.

That night, Hermione and Severus reflected on their own honeymoon. They had married over the Christmas holidays and spent two weeks at a secluded cabin in Switzerland. The snow blanketed the mountains and the fire had been warm and cozy. There was no one around for miles and they only left the cabin a few times to walk through the local village.
When they returned to their own house in Hogsmeade, Hermione found Severus intently contemplating their bathroom.
"Do you think it's time we renovated, Hermione? I was thinking about a magical Jacuzzi."
Hermione threw a pillow at his head.
