They spent most of their days with friends and family. Loving every moment and being with them. The best part of this year was that Sonny got his own ornament at the Horton house before they hung their own.
"It was Will's idea." Abigail explained. Sonny just looked at Will with so much love in his eyes. As he was now part of the Horton family. Well, a part of Will and Arianna.
They spent their Christmas days in the Square, the Pub, the hospital, and the Club. And they spent it with their families as well. As much as they loved being with them, they wanted to spend time on their own. Just the three of them together. The last day of Christmas was spent in the Horton house one last time. Sami, the kids, Lucas and his girlfriend joined them at the house. EJ spent the day with his family, not that the Horton family cared about him at all.
Small conversations were made here and there. Some were just gossip that was flying around town about the latest victim or whatnot. It was always the same thing that was going around. Nothing was ever the same in Salem anymore. Not that it has been this way for years. The memory of Tom and Alice always lingered in the air. And better hopes, dreams and wishes of tomorrow being better than the last.
The sound of light silverware hitting against the glass, brought about everyone's attention.
"I would just like to say thank you to everyone who came to enjoy and celebrate this wonderful evening with friends and family. I know some of you have given a lot of thought into coming here. But, putting our differences aside, being with family is what counts. We all lost a certain someone in our lives, but it always matters when we have someone to love to share those tears. And those special memories and making new ones together." Everyone cheered and brought their glasses together and they happily drank and ate and mingled between each other.
It was nearing New Year's Eve. They were in the Club looking around; watching everyone's happy faces.
"It looks good." Will replied over the noise. They were standing behind the bar as they surveyed the pace. Sonny was in his glory at the amount of people there were and how much profit he gained.
"I know."
"You know Sonny. I have given you many chances to leave me and you never did."
"Uh huh. You don't get to do that. I would spend my entire life with you than without you at all. There is no other place I would rather be."
"I feel the same way." Will smiled.
"Good." Sonny leaned in for a possessive kiss. Will wrapped his arms around Sonny's neck.
"Mmm. I love you so much."
"I love you too Will. Will?"
"Hmm?"
"There's something that I have to tell you."
"What is it?"
"Ten seconds left." Someone replied in the crowd. They were all chanting down the numbers as it was getting close to the New Year.
"Five seconds." In an instant, Sonny was down on one knee and revealed a small box in front of him with a gold plated ring inside.
"Will you marry me?" Will's voice couldn't be heard over top of everyone else's as the countdown was over. His voice was audible as he looked into Sonny's gorgeous brown eyes and the way his eyes sparkled with happiness. As this was the third time Sonny asked him. The last two times Sonny proposed, there was always something going on. But this time was different. This time they are headed into the New Year with better things on their minds. With a fresh new start together with just the three of them.
Sonny stood up and brushed off his leg. When Will didn't say anything, he smiled at him knowing that he still loves him no matter what. Sonny was about to turn around when Will took a hold of his arm.
"You never got a chance to let me answer you properly." Will said before he moved closer to Sonny and kissed him with every fiber of his being. Loving him because he never knew when to give up. Loving him, because no matter how many times Sonny asks, Will's answer was always going to be a yes. They let go with their foreheads resting against the other.
"Yes, Sonny. I will marry you."
"I'm glad to hear you say that. Because I am the luckiest guy in the world."
"No Sonny. I'm the lucky one." They both kissed once again. Feeling as though there was no one around them and it was just the two of them in the Club. No one else mattered in the world besides each other.
"Why don't we head home and we can pick Arianna up tomorrow from the mansion?" Sonny's voice filled with eagerness.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. T, Cory and Laura have the place under control. Besides, I want us to properly celebrate."
"Hmm. That can be arranged." Their laughter joined everybody's as they walked over to let T know before they left.
"Let me know if you need anything man."
"Will do. Happy Ney Years guys."
"You too." Sonny and Will headed left and headed home.
"Let's just say, that I'm happy to be here with you."
"So am I." Will gave a hearty laugh as he flipped on to his side and looked into Sonny's eyes. Sonny trailed his fingers down Will's side and he giggled at the feeling that it gave him.
"So. What was your resolution for this year?"
"It already came true."
"I love you Sonny." He whispered.
"I love you too. But saying those words, never seem enough. No matter how many times I tell you that I love you, it never seems enough. I would bring down the moon and the stars for you Will Horton because that it how much I love you." Will snuggled closer to Sonny's side and he held him close to him in his arms.
"I feel the same way too Sonny."
"I love you and Arianna with all my heart so much. You have both showed me what it's like to be a part of a family. To be this happy." Will fell fast asleep against the beat of Sonny's heart. He loved knowing that his heart beats for him. A smile crept on both of their faces as they let sleep overtake them happily.
