She was already up and about wandering the town in search of news about shanks. Aokiji quietly tottered along behind, browsing the street market stalls as Kaiyan ran in and out of pubs looking for answers. Eventually she came across someone who'd heard that Shanks was docked on the opposite side of the island; apparently there was a treasure trove on the island somewhere, hence why the red haired pirates were on there.

Kaiyan came running out of the pub, "Ahhhh, I found them, I found them!" She ran up to Aokiji, jumping up and down on the spot in excitement.

"Ho, so where is he."

"Why are you so curious, I thought you just wanted to stock up on food?"

"I've heard about Mugiwara. I'm curious about how he came to be the kind of guy everyone says he is."

"Have you met my brother before?"

"Once… It didn't end very well. I don't think he likes me very much."

"That's unusual, my brother likes everyone... most of the time."

"There were extenuating circumstances. I tried to kill someone important to him."

"Well, I can certainly understand why he doesn't like you then."

"Yeah, but I won't be doing that again. Right about now, I think the world needs someone like your brother."

Kaiyan's expression changed as her features stopped oozing excitement and became serious and solemn, "I think it does too. There are too many things wrong with this world, and someone needs to set it right."

For the first time, Aokiji realised she wasn't just and over enthused little girl, ignorant of how the world works. She knew a lot more than she was letting on.

"So, whereabouts is this man you're looking for."

"The other side of the Island, he's treasure hunting. At least that's what I was told."

"Let's go then."

"Mm."

~THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ISLAND~

While the island was small, once you got about halfway in, the rolling flower-filled hills became rainforest covered mountains with tarantulas and pythons 3m in length. By the time they made it to the cliffs on the other side of the island, they were completely out of breath.

"I'm not cut out for hiking. I'll stick to my bicycle in future." Aokiji slumped against a tree by the cliff and slide down.

"I agree entirely… So exhausting."

"You said they were on the other side of the island, but I can't see anyone."

"Yeah, that poses a bit of a problem." Kaiyan jumped to her feet and skirted the edge of the cliff where she spotted a huge galleon. "Found them!"

Aokiji pulled himself to his feet and ambled over to where she was to see what all the fuss was about. He looked over the cliff to the galleon bearing the colours of the red haired pirates.

"Your brother's mentor is a part of the red haired pirates?" Aokiji didn't have an extensive range of expressions, and out of the few expressions he did have surprise wasn't one of them. However, his current expression sure came close.

"Mm, Shanks."

While his face gave very little away, he was certainly shocked to learn Luffy was so close to one of the four emperors. 'I guess it makes sense. That kid sure does have a lot of spirit, so to speak. This sure helps to explain how he came to be interested in pirates.'

"Well that's definitely the red haired pirate's galleon, but I don't see anyone down there."

"You're right; it's pretty dead down there. Let's go check it out." Kaiyan stepped over the edge of the cliff and landed on the jagged rocks bellow. Aokiji was only moments behind. They made their way onto the ship to find only a handful of men passed out on the deck, drunk.

Kaiyan walked over to the nearest man and started pulling his shoulders back and forth, "Oi, wake up… I want to know where your captain is. Oi!"

The man started fidgeting about and pulled an empty sake bottle to his chest, hugging it as a little girl would a stuffed bear.

"Oi! Wake up." He was really out of it, so she started shoving him harder and harder until he slowly came to life.

"Nnmm, what…. What is it?"

"Where's your captain?"

"Hm? Captain? In the cave of course." He snuggled back up to the empty bottle and dozed off again.

Kaiyan shook her head and threw her hands into the air, "Of course he's in the cave!… why wouldn't he be!"

Aokiji cocked his head sideways, apparently confused. "Before, you said he was treasure hunting right? Why would a pirate emperor be treasure hunting… he should be rich enough as it is."

She pulled a crooked smile and answered, "Why, you ask? Because it's fun of course… Why else!" She skipped off into the caves entrance a quarter of a kilometre down the rocky beach; excited to finally meet the man Luffy had always raved about. Aokiji slowly and unenthusiastically ambled along behind.
