Three months later.
Chapter 26:
Oliver sighed contently as he put on his suite jacket. Today he was going to marry the love of his life, surrounded by family and friends.
"I just got confirmation that he is in the car." Diggle voiced called interrupting Oliver thoughts.
Oliver looked over at his best man. Diggle had become one of the most important people in his world. He had learnt so much from Diggle and in all honesty Oliver was pretty sure he wouldn't even be alive if it wasn't Diggle.
Diggle had spent most of the morning trying to make sure that Jay was really on his way. Ever since there last conversation coming home had taken Jay a little longer than either of them like.
FLASHBACK
"How would you like to be the next arrow?" Oliver asked.
Oliver couldn't help but smile at Jay's reaction. His mouth literately hung open in surprise.
"You're serious aren't you?" Jay questioned when he got himself back together.
Oliver frowned at him, he was always serious.
"You honestly want me to be the arrow?" Jay asked a little louder then he liked.
It may be a safe line talk about the arrow but that didn't mean it made those around the Jay deaf.
"Yes, but keep your voice down." Oliver ordered.
Jay nodded.
"Sorry, it's just a lot to take in." Jay reasoned.
Oliver nodded in understanding.
"So what do you think?" Oliver pressed knowing they were pushed for time.
"Being the arrow would mean you never have to leave Katya and you wouldn't have to give up who are you." Oliver added.
Jay took a deep breath. Oliver could see he was interested.
"If I do this I do it my way." Jay told him adamantly.
Oliver smiled and slowly nodded his head.
"That's the thing about the arrow it doesn't matter who he is under the hood, or how he gets things done all that matter is that he is there to protect this city." Oliver told Jay honestly.
"Then I'm in." Jay said finally answering him.
END OF FLASHBACK
"You sure?" Oliver questioned.
Jay may have accepted the position as arrow but he had quite a few ideas on how he wanted to run that role. His main rule had been to have a backup.
Oliver had pointed out that he, Roy and Diggle would always be part of the arrow. Jay said it wasn't enough. He needed someone all the time to watch his back so he would never have worry about never coming home. Oliver figure that is more for Katya benefit then anything, but whatever the reason it looked like the Arsenal suite was coming out again.
"Driver confirmed it himself and GPS puts them on route." Diggle replied.
Oliver had no idea who Jay had in mind for his back up but whoever it was meant a two month pit stop on his way home. Oliver really hated keeping his girls in the dark but at least Jay had kept in constant contact with Katya via letters so she wasn't as worried as before.
"Good." Oliver said smugly.
Today would be perfect no matter what.
Felicity looked at herself in the mirror and smiled. Today she was getting everything she always wanted.
Felicity could see her daughter approach her from behind, her beautiful smile lighting up her face.
"You look beautiful mum." Katya told her as she hugged her mum from behind.
Felicity leant back into his daughter touched and took her hands in her own.
"As do you baby." Felicity replied.
Katya smiled.
"Are you happy mum?" Katya asked suddenly serious.
Felicity smiled. For so long it was just them and her daughters concern had her fighting back tears of pride.
"Very." Felicity promised.
Katya kissed her cheek.
"Good because it's almost time." Katya replied pulling away.
"Are you sure you don't won't me to get uncle Dig to give you away?" Katya asked.
Felicity shook her head.
"I have it covered." She replied.
At least she hoped she had it covered, but other than his acceptance of the job and Oliver's constant reassurance that Jay would be here she hadn't seen or heard a word from him.
The door to their dressing room opened and Thea's head bobbed in. This wedding wouldn't be if it wasn't for Thea, she had party planning down to a T and Felicity had never been more grateful for in her life. Thea's constant calmness and handle on any situation had been a life saver.
"It's time." Thea called through the room, her voice laced with excitement.
Felicity smiled. So many people had said they felt nervous on their wedding day but all Felicity felt was happy. Maybe it was because she knew that she and Oliver were forever.
"I'll see you out there mum." Katya called as she made her way towards her aunt.
Felicity stood up. If she had to do this alone she would.
A knock on the door pulled her out of her thoughts.
Oliver stood at the top the isle his face watching the door closely. He had waited long enough for his happy ending with Felicity and he was done waiting he just wanted make her his wife.
When the music started Oliver let go of a deep breath. The doors opened and Sara, escorted by his nephew walked in. Tommy looked five years older in his tux and so much more like the man he was name after. Sara looked beautiful as always in the royal blue dress that Felicity had picked out for her bridesmaids.
Roy and Thea came next looking just as in love as they day they walked out arm in arm at their own wedding.
His daughter escorted by Diggle were the last of the bridesmaid. Diggle stood tall and proud as he took his place next to Oliver. Katya looked happier then she had done in a long time as she pressed a kiss to his cheek.
Oliver hugged his daughter before she took her place next to his sister and oldest friend.
The music changed indicating Felicity's arrival.
Katya looked at her father's face as the musical change. In the short time she had known her father she knew he had two smiles. The first was the fake one, this smile he used to hide behind. But the second smile the one he held on his face was his real smile the one that truly showed how happy he was.
Katya turned to look at her mother and her heart almost stopped. Her mum looked stunning in her beautiful white gown with lace sleeves the hugged her figure stunningly but it was her escort that really caught her attention.
"Jay." she whispered breathlessly.
Jay in his dress uniform guided her mum up the aisle with pride. He caught her eyes and smiled the cheeky smile she loved so much, that Katya couldn't help but smile back. Right now wasn't the time, but soon they would talk.
Now she was happy. Felicity thought to herself as she walked up the isle to the love of her life surrounded by the only people in their world that really mattered.
Felicity approached the top of the isle and all she could see is Oliver.
"Hi." She said softly.
Oliver laughed quietly.
"Hi." he whispered back.
"Who gives this woman to this man in marriage?" The priest asked.
"I do." Jay announced proudly.
The priest smiled and nodded as Jay took his seat.
"Ladies and gentleman, friends and family, we gather here today to witness and celebrate in the joining of Felicity Meghan Smoak and Oliver Jonas Queen, who with love and commitment have decided to live together as husband and wife." The priest continued.
The priest turned to Oliver.
"Repeat after me." He ordered.
"I Oliver Jonas Queen." The priest said and Oliver repeated.
"Take Felicity Meghan Smoak."
"To be my lawfully wedded wife."
"To love and to cherish."
"Through joy and sorrow."
"In sickness and in health."
"In whatever challenges we may face."
Felicity new that vow would be there biggest challenge.
"For as long as we both shall live." Oliver finished.
The priest looked at Oliver and Oliver turned to look at her.
"I do, a thousand times I do." Oliver promised.
The priest looked at Felicity.
"I Felicity Meghan Smoak, take Oliver Jonas Queen, to be my lawfully wedded husband, to love and to cherish, through joy and sorrow, in sickness and in health, in whatever challenges we may face for as long as we both shall live." Felicity repeated.
Oliver looked at Felicity and saw nothing but love in her eyes as he took her hand in his.
Diggle handed him her wedding band.
"I give you this ring as a token of my love and faithfulness. As I place this ring on your finger, I commit my heart and soul to yours. I ask that you wear this ring as a reminder of the vows we have taken on this day, today our wedding day." Oliver copied the priest placing her wedding band on her finger.
He pressed a kiss to her hand before Felicity took his other hand.
Katya proudly handed Felicity his ring.
"I give you this ring as a token of my love and faithfulness. As I place this ring on your finger, I commit my heart and soul to yours. I ask that you wear this ring as a reminder of the vows we have taken on this day, today our wedding day." Felicity repeated.
"And now by the power rested in me, I now pronounce you man and wife you may kiss your bride." The priest told them.
Oliver wasted no time in pulling his wife into his arms and slanting his lips over hers.
He felt Felicity smile as she kissed him back.
When the finally pulled away both breathless Oliver rested his forehead on hers.
"Ladies and gentleman, friends and family I present to you Mr and Mrs Oliver and Felicity Queen." The priest finished.
Oliver kissed Felicity again slowly. Although he wanted more than to take her back their bed and show her just how much he loved her but he knew how much this day meant to their friends and family who had waited two decades for them to get together and there would be time for that later.
"God I love you." He told her.
"I love you too." she whispered back.
Jay had watched Katya throughout the whole of the wedding. There were so many times he wanted nothing more than to gather her into his arms but today was about Oliver and Felicity, and he knew they could wait. They had waited this long, an extra few hours was nothing.
The wedding was beautiful, everything that Oliver and Felicity deserved and the speeches had been wonderful but when Katya made her way to the garden Jay was hurry to follow.
He followed her to a stunning pound in the middle of the hotel grounds. She stopped and watched the water.
"What took you so long?" she asked without looking at him.
Jay stopped a few feet away from her, knowing if he got any closer he wouldn't be able to resist touching her but before he did that he had to be sure that was what she wanted.
"I had to make a pit stop." He told her honestly.
Katya turned slowly to face him her eyebrows raised, clearly she had no idea what Oliver had asked him.
"Your dad offered me a job." he said.
"At QC?" Katya questioned.
Jay snorted.
"Could you honestly see me working behind a desk for the rest of my life?" he asked and Katya shook her head.
"He gave me the opportunity to have the best of both worlds." Jay stated taking a step forward.
"What do you mean best of both worlds?" she asked taking her own step towards him.
"To still be a hero without ever have to leave you again." He explained.
Katya froze and let go of a deep breath as she came to the realisation of what that meant.
"He asked you to be the arrow." Katya stated and Jay nodded.
Jay stood in silence as he let the idea sink in.
"I want to be with you kitty Kat more than anything but I can't give up who I am." Jay told her honestly.
"I didn't ask you too." Katya argued.
Jay held up his hands in surrender.
"I know that Katya but it hurts us both every time I leave and I hate that." Jay reasoned.
"This way I get to do what I am meant to do and still be by your side." Jay added.
"It's dangerous." Katya pointed out.
"No more than I what I do already is." Jay argued.
Katya sighed.
"So what did you say?" she asked taking a step towards him.
Jay took another step of his own. They now stood just centimetres apart.
"That I would do but it has to be my own way." Jay replied.
"So you're going to be the next arrow?" Katya clarified.
Jay slowly nodded; with Carter at his side as the arsenal, Tommy as his eyes and ears and the whole of the original team arrow teaching and backing them they would protect the Starling city and everyone within it. The pit stop as had been so he and Carter could be discharged properly without repercussions.
"And you'll be here with me where I can help keep you safe?" She asked almost in disbelief.
She was so close now that he could feel her breath.
"For as long as you want me to be." Jay promised.
Katya moved quicker than he had ever seen her move in her life. She jumped in his arms, her arms going around his neck. Jay caught her easily and she buried her face in his neck.
"Always and forever." She whispered into his neck.
Jay hugged her back instantly and breathed her in.
"I've missed you so much." He told her.
"I missed you too." She replied.
Katya pulled back to look at him. Her beautiful blue eyes looked at him with so much love.
"I have never wanted to you kiss you more than I do right now." Jay told her honestly.
Katya tiled her head to the side, a sinful smile graced her lips.
"Then what are you waiting for?" She questioned.
Jay moved slowly. His hand caressed her cheek as he cupped her face with both hands and gently pulled her face towards him. Jay lowed his head until their breaths were mingling together.
"If we do this there is no going back." Jay warned, looking deep in her eyes.
He loved Katya with every part of him but he needed to be sure she felt the same because he refused to lose her from his life. Losing her now would be like losing a limb.
Jay felt her smile rather than saw it.
"The moment I said I loved you there was never any going back. because I do Jay." she told him.
"I love you Jay Baxter." She added.
Jay kissed her then. Their lips came together perfectly almost as if they were made for each other. Her soft lips kissed him back instantly. Jay's arms moved round her waist and he pulled her closer as her arms rounded his neck.
They kissed until they were both breathless and when they pulled back Jay rested his forehead on hers.
"I love you too kitty Kat always and forever." Jay promised.
Katya smiled that blinding smile he loved so much as she repeated,
"Always and forever."
Felicity looked down at her daughter and Jay from the hotels balcony. They looked so happy together. Felicity felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist and she smiled. She leant back into the familiar touch.
"So this is where you got to Mrs Queen." Oliver's deep voice rumbled through her.
Felicity smiled, she liked the sound of that.
"I couldn't resist a peak." She told him pointing down towards the pond.
Oliver looked over just into time to see them kissing again.
"No matter how much I like Jay I am still not ready for that." Oliver groaned.
Felicity laughed.
"But at least they are happy." She pointed out.
She felt Oliver nod.
"That's true." he replied.
His arms tightened around her waist.
"And tell me Mrs Queen are you happy?" He questioned.
Felicity turned around in his arms and put her arms around his neck.
"I have never been happier in my entire life." She told him honestly.
Oliver smiled before lowering his head to hers and kissing her passionately.
