Xenomorph was looking at things in her host's house.
From what one could tell, he liked paintings, especially those with winter scenery, and there were also a few fantasy and post-apocalyptic books. There were also many knives, music records. The walls were indigo, which she guessed was his favorite.
She heard footsteps and slowly turned around.
He stood there, a little shorter than her, his hair short, his hair in a Y in the middle with spikes at the top ends. He wore a metal breastplate, held a bladed weapon in one hand and a modified Pulse Rifle in the other. For the time being, both weapons were not aimed at her.
Trying not to provoke him to attack, she slowly raised her hands the way she'd seen people give up.
Jason stared at her, not knowing what to expect. Yes, she was of a species that wiped out all life on this planet, but then again, they've been facing each other for two minutes now and she hasn't tried to kill him.
- Do you understand me?... She nodded... Why are you here?... She pointed to his chest and to herself, then clasped her hands as if in greeting... Do you want to meet me?... She nodded again... How do I know you won't claw me in the back the second I turn around? She shrugged and made a sad expression.
Jason decided to take a chance. On the one hand, there was a risk that I would kill him at the first opportunity, but on the other hand, her help could be invaluable.
- Come ... He said... I need to get something to repair in my shelter.
Xenomorph nodded and followed him from a distance.
They darted between the streets, every house seemed to be watching them, every little sound made Jason tighten his grip on the gun, and the fact of his companion didn't help.
They headed to the store two streets away, the hatch to the bunker was getting harder to open, he was afraid that the hatch would snap shut one day.
Suddenly, Xenomorph placed a hand on his shoulder, it took all his willpower not to attack.
- What? He asked
She pointed to the bend ahead and to herself, then showed six fingers. Jason cursed softly, six of her kind are coming here. He opened a nearby door and they went inside. Jason sincerely hoped he wasn't walking into a trap.
The room turned out to be the kitchen of the restaurant, Xenomorph stood next to the door, pointed at him and gestured for him to move away, and put her finger to her lips. He nodded, wondering how he knew all these gestures.
He left quietly for the main hall, judging by the appearance, a massacre had taken place here. Old blood was everywhere, tables and chairs were overturned and smashed, there was even a rotten hand in the corner of the room.
Something moved at the edge of his vision, and he spun around and barely managed to catch the facehugger . He stumbled and fell, facehugger almost reaching his face when he was suddenly torn away from him. He saw Xenomorph grab his machete and ram him in the facehugger , pinning him to the floor.
The door flew off its hinges and five warriors burst in. Xenomorph grabbed Jason while clamping his mouth shut, and quickly tossed him into a nearby freezer, locking it shut. She then quickly pulled out her machete and injured her hand before throwing the weapon to the floor.
A large warrior entered the room, saw a facehugger slain, and one of the weak, as they called those who were either born deformed or wounded in combat, rendered effective combat impossible.
- He escaped there! She hissed, clutching the bleeding wound.
Five warriors jumped out the window, the tallest staring at her before speaking.
- You're pathetic... She looked at him... One small wound and you don't fight anymore... He went to the window... I've heard rumors that the queen is going to get rid of all the useless from the nest. Better find a new home for you now. He laughed and jumped out.
She hissed and knocked on the freezer wall. Jason came out and brushed himself off the water.
- Thank God, it was empty... He noticed her look. Was it just his imagination or did she see tears in her eyes?... What happened?
He felt a strange tingle in the back of his head, then heard a voice.
- The queen wants to get rid of all disabled from the nest. Jason backed away.
- What the hell? Why do I hear voices in my head?
She looked at him shocked.
- Did you hear me?
- I think so. Jason replied. She smiled
- It's wonderful.
- Can you tell me what's your name?
- In the hive, we don't use names like humans. They used to call me "The one with the eyes"
- I'll call you Veronica. Do you like it?... She nodded... Good. let's go.
By the time they finally got back to Jason's house, it was almost night. Jason used spray and tools to remove the rust and then lubricated the hatch hinges. There was no point not letting Veronica into the bunker, if she wanted to kill him, she would just have to watch the facehugger do its job.
- Fascinating... She said looking around. Jason shrugged.
- If you think so. He said getting ready for bed.
As he lay down, he remembered that he was no longer alone.
- You can sleep on the couch. He told Veronica, who was lying on the floor.
She nodded and jumped on the couch.
- So soft... She fell asleep, if the soft snoring was any indication.
Jason closed his eyes himself and drifted off to the land of Morpheus.
