Chapter 13

Renesmee

Sunlight bleed through the window, hitting the lids of my closed eyes directly. I squeezed them, and buried myself underneath the comforter, hoping to block out the sun. When that didn't work, I convinced myself to get out of bed.

I gently moved Jacob's arm off of my body, and he stirred in his sleep. When he didn't wake up, I pulled myself out of bed, and made my way to the bathroom for my morning routine of peeing and inspecting my new bump.

I had grown about fifteen centimeters in the last six weeks. After my last appointment with Carlisle, he concluded that I would have ten more weeks before my due date, which put us around August 15th for delivery.

Anyone could tell now that I was pregnant. My belly had become rounded, my breasts swelling. As I inspected my belly, I felt a small flutter within me. It surprised me, at first; the movement had come out of the blue. But when I ran my hand down the length of my bump, it happened again, this time the fluttering following my hand.

"Hey, baby." I smiled down at my bump. "You've never said good morning before."

I felt the outline of a tiny foot against my palm. I traced its outline, and I felt another flutter.

"Are you ticklish already?" I laughed. "Just wait until your Daddy finds out that you're moving now, he's going to be so excited."

I shuffled out of the bathroom, and crawled back next to Jacob's sleeping body. I curled my body around his, resting my chin against his shoulder.

"Hey, good-looking," I whispered as he began to wake up.

"Hey," he replied groggily.

"The baby started moving." I smiled. I could hardly contain my excitement.

That seemed to wake him up. "Really?" His eyes lit up.

"Feel," I grabbed his hand and laid on my back, pressing his hand against my abdomen.

"Talk to her," I prompted. "She likes it."

"Hey," Jacob said softly, moving so that he was leaning over my belly. "I'm your daddy."

I felt the flutter again. Jacob's face broke into a large grin. "That's right," he said. "I'm your daddy."

Another flutter. "I love you so much," Jacob continued. "Your mommy and I love you so much. We can't wait to meet you."

I put my hand over Jacob's, smiling as he continued to talk to our baby. I still couldn't believe that this was real; that we were going to have a baby. It took me a long time to realize that this one wasn't going anywhere, although I still had thoughts in the back of my mind about something happening to him. But, every time I had an appointment with Carlisle and I heard his heartbeat, my fears were relieved. And now that he was mobile, I knew that he was real, and that in ten weeks, we'd be parents.

"So, what's on the table today?" Jacob asked, kissing my belly, and then kissing me.

"I think Alice and Rose wanted to take me shopping today, if you wanted to come."

"I'll let you have your girl day," Jacob chuckled. "I actually have an interview with a local mechanic place for a part-time position."

"Really?" I sat up. "You got an interview?"

He nodded. "I figured we could use the extra money, now that we have a baby on the way."

"One step closer to being our own family," I kissed Jacob.

Jacob pressed his hands against my breasts, kneading them softly. He moved, nibbling my neck and tracing his hands around my abdomen. My phone vibrated against the nightstand, but I ignored it, instead turning my attention to Jacob. He pressed my breasts together, beginning to lick circles around my areolas.

My phone rang, and I sighed. "Hold on, Jake." I laced my fingers through his hair, as he moved to his side, beginning to trace designs over my bump.

"Can you two be around each other for five minutes without sexing each other up?" Aunt Alice asked as soon I put my phone to my ear.

"I don't know," I replied. "Can you and Uncle Jasper be around each other without 'sexing each other up'?"

"You hold your tongue, Missy," she scolded. "Rose and I are on our way, and we expect you nice and ready to go in ten minutes,"

"Of course," I smiled, as Jacob pressed his lips against mine. I hung up, tossing my phone on the nightstand.

"I have to get ready," I pulled away from the kiss. "They're going to be here soon and I already here enough from Uncle Emmett,"

I pushed myself off the bed, and began to get ready. I slowly pulled on a pair of panties, knowing Jacob was watching me dress. I got as far as pulling on a pair of jeans before a wave of nausea hit, sending me straight to the bathroom. Jacob followed behind me, holding my hair behind me, rubbing my lower back.

"Is this ever going to end?" I moaned, resting my head against the toilet seat.

"I don't know what to tell you, sweetie." Jacob rubbed my shoulders. "Just think about how at the end of all this, we're going to have a baby."

"Doesn't seem like this is worth it," I closed my eyes, trying to hold down the remnants of my stomach contents.

"Do you want me to stay here?" Jacob asked, worry tracing his voice.

"No, you need to go." I waved him away. "I'll be fine. Aunt Alice and Aunt Rose will be here soon. Go to your interview. Kick ass," I coughed, feeling like I was going to vomit again. Jacob held my hair back as whatever was left in my stomach made its way back up.

"I can always reschedule—"

"Go!" I ordered, pointing toward the bathroom door.

"Alright," Jacob kissed my shoulder, and left.

I closed my eyes, resting my cheek against the cool of the porcelain bowl. I must have fallen asleep, because the next thing I remember is a cold hand on my shoulder.

"Nessie…" I heard Aunt Alice's voice, trying to coax me awake.

"Hmm?" I lifted my head, feeling heavy. The corner of my mouth felt wet, and I wiped away whatever was on it with the back of my hand.

"How are you feeling?" Aunt Alice asked, brushing my hair away from my face.

"Better," I sighed.

"You still up for shopping?" She helped me stand, and walked me back to the bedroom.

"Yeah," I nodded. "I'm feeling much better now."

I walked away from Alice, and continued to get dressed. I layered a tank-top and a sweater, and pulled my hair into a low ponytail. I went back into the bathroom and swished back some mouthwash, trying to get rid of the vomit aftertaste.

"Let's go," I smiled, meeting Aunt Alice back in my bedroom.

"Great," Alice smiled, as we began to walk down the hallway. "I was thinking we could get you some clothes, and we could start shopping for stuff for the nursery, and maybe some clothes for him, and…"

"Woah, Aunt Alice," I stopped her down the stairs, holding her shoulders. "I love you, but you're going too fast for me."

"I'm just so excited, Ness!" She squealed. "We're going baby shopping. Oh, and we also have to get some stuff for the shower…" she stopped for a moment, and looked longingly at me.

"Please tell me you want a baby shower," she begged.

"Of course I want a shower," I laughed. "Why wouldn't I want one?"

"Good!" Aunt Alice bounced for a little bit, and proceeded to drag me downstairs, where Aunt Rose was waiting for us.

"Oh, good, you're feeling better." Aunt Rose smiled. "So you ready to go?"

"Yes," I grabbed my bag off the end table, and the three of us headed out the door.

xXx

"Oh, Nessie, look at this!" Aunt Alice dragged me through the store, standing me in front of a black gloss crib decorated with white blankets.

"What do you think of this one?"

"It looks like all the other ones you guys have shown me," I replied. "Honestly, I don't care what it looks like as long as it's something that the baby can sleep in."

"Well, if you're not going to pick, then I will." Aunt Alice huffed. "And I think this one's perfect."

She skipped away, looking for a sales rep to help her with the order. I walked around the store, looking at different baby clothing. I smiled to myself, thinking about how in just ten weeks I'd be able to hold him or her in my arms. I took a few outfits, and held them to my abdomen.

"What do you think?" I asked, looking down at my bump. "Do you think I should get this for you?"

There was a small flutter in reply.

"You think?" I lifted the clothing, and thought about dressing him or her in them. "Yeah, I think so, too."

"Oh, Nessie, those are really cute," Aunt Rose said. I looked up and found her standing a few feet away.

"Mhmm," I smiled, looking back down at the outfits I had chosen. "I can't wait to dress him or her."

"Only a few more weeks," Aunt Rose smiled. "I bet you're ready to have him in your arms already."

"I mean, I love being pregnant," I started. "But, yeah. I wish he was here now."

Aunt Rose nodded, her lips tight.

"Oh!" I frowned. "Aunt Rose, I'm sorry, I didn't—'

"No," Aunt Rose sighed. "You're fine. It happens a lot and I guess I'm still not really used to it.

"Yeah," I said softly.

"Anyway," Aunt Rose changed the topic. "Is there anything else you wanted to get for the nursery?"

"Didn't you guys already order everything?" I laughed.

"Alright, you got me." Aunt Rose smiled. "Come on, let's buy these."

Aunt Rose took me to the checkout, and paid for the clothing. We met Aunt Alice outside the store, and continued on to our next little shopping adventure.

We were out nearly the entire day, and by the time we were finished, I wasn't sure if I would even need a baby shower, considering all of the stuff Aunt Alice and Aunt Rose had bought us; but I would entertain them and continue with the party they were planning. Everything Aunt Alice and Aunt Rose ordered would ship to our house within two weeks, and Jacob and I could start putting everything together. We had already begun painting the room a nice pastel green color, and Jacob was working on installing a shelving unit where we could put books and stuffed animals.

When I got home, Jacob was taking a shower, so I set what I did come home with in the living room to sort through later. I went into the kitchen, looking for something to eat. Recently, I had begun to get cravings for human food, something that I wasn't quite used to. I had wanted to try everything from small snacks to full-on meals. My current favorite food was Buffalo wings, but I had to be careful with spicy foods, because I had read somewhere that spicy foods weren't very good for the developing baby.

I settled for some eggs, and began to cook them when Jacob came downstairs.

"Ness?" I heard him call.

"Kitchen," I shouted a reply.

He made his way into the kitchen, coming up behind me. He wrapped his arms underneath mine, resting his head against my shoulders. I could feel his fingers trace patterns against my bump.

"How did your day go?" He asked, kissing my neck softly.

"Good," I smiled, keeping my attention on the eggs. "We got all the furniture we need for the nursery, and it should be here within the next two weeks."

"I can't wait to put it all together," Jacob said. "Did you three do anything else?"

I shrugged. "Not really. I mean, they got me some clothes to wear, since I'm starting to get too big for my 'normal' clothes." I turned off the stove and moved the skillet to a cool burner. I turned in Jacob's arms so that I faced him.

"How was your day?" I clasped my hands around the back of his neck.

"I got the job," Jacob smiled.

"You got the job?" I bounced a little. "Jacob, that's wonderful!"

He laughed lightly, and leaned in for a kiss. "I start on Monday, and work three days a week from nine to five."

"Did you tell them about…?" I moved my hands, resting them over my abdomen, on top of Jacob's hands.

"Only that I would need some time off in about ten weeks. Everything else is under a sort-of need-to-know basis."

"Oh, Jacob, this is amazing," I grinned.

"You've said that already," Jacob laughed. He cupped my head in his hands, his thumbs resting against my cheeks.

"Well, it is!" I defended, pushing him away from me, playfully slapping at his chest. "You got a job, Jacob. Like, a real job. What else am I supposed to say?"

"No idea," Jacob laughed.

I rolled my eyes, returning to my eggs. I pushed them from the skillet and onto a plate, beginning to eat them with my fingers. I was too lazy to use real utensils.

"I was going to go watch some TV, if you wanted to join me," I mentioned in passing, crossing from the kitchen, to the dining room, and into the living room.

Jacob followed behind, and we spent the rest of the night watching reruns of Parks and Recreation. I was curled on the couch, against Jacob's warm body, his arms wrapped protectively around me. I couldn't help but think of how soon, we would have a child between us. I closed my eyes, beginning to dream of a small child; a little boy that was a miniature of Jacob, with Daddy's green eyes.

There was only ten more weeks until we got to be able to hold him in our arms, and I couldn't wait.
