Birchstar went into a crouch, bunched his muscles and sprang.

Rainstar stood stunned for a few moments before recovering, 'How dare he!' she thought.

She sidestepped Birchstar's attack but he whipped around delivered a blow to her jaw, making her stubble backwards.

"Birchstar just stop, we don't need to fight."

The two leaders circled each other, each waiting for a chance to attack.

Birchstar stopped; "Alas you don't know my very well, I will fight to the death if I have to." he smiled

"If we have to fight, call off you warriors." Rainstar flicked her tail to the other cats that seemed egger to join in.

Cats from both sides looked slightly shocked at her words but Birchstar nodded, "She is right."

Rainstar took her chance and ran straight at Birchstar. He lifted his paw to strike but she leaped over his head landing behind him. Birchstar turned around confused and before he could do anything, Rainstar struck his shoulder hard and he landed on his back.

Birchstar had a cruel smile on his face as Rainstar towered over him, 'You fight well but I'm not out of tricks quite yet." His back legs kicked upwards with so much force that it sent the she-cat flying.

"Rainstar!" shrieked Sunflight.

She tried to run over to her leader but Stoneheart held her back, "This is their fight not ours."

"It doesn't mean it is right," mumbled Owlheart.

Birchstar stalked over to the dazed leader, "I always win, you should know this by now. You did put up quite a good fight."

Rainstar's eyes were filled with anger, "Leave." she growled

"I'm afraid I can't do that Rainstar, today blood will be spilled."

He reared up onto his hind legs and was ready to nip her neck when Sunflight ripped away from Stoneheart grip and charged Birchstar, giving Rainstar just enough time to roll away from the attack. Sunflight was not so lucky, before she reached Birchstar; Fireclaw grabbed her back leg in his jaws and brought her down.

Stoneheart went to help her, followed by Stormfeather and Owlheart. Shadowpaw leaped into battle to help his mentor.

Hailpelt and Kestrelfur joined soon after.

Fur was flying all over and blood was starting to stain the ground.

"Fireclaw, Shadowpaw get back to you side of the border, unless ForestClan are worse than these LakeClan cats."

The toms walked back to their territory and the LakeClan cats did the same. Both sides were shooting harsh glares at each other.

"Now Rainstar I believe it is time to go again."

The blue-gray leader had been recovering while her warriors fought, "Fine." she panted.

Birchstar smiled again, his tail tip twitching before he leapt and grabbed her tail yanking it as hard as he could, sending her off balance.

Rainstar yowled but managed to spin around and strike his face. She continued dodging his strikes and clawing his side.

Both leaders were panting, struggling to breathe. Rainstar mustered all of her strength and charged, she knocked his paws out from under him and reared. She brought her weight down on him and he went limp but not before he raked his claws across her belly and kicked, with any strength that remained.

Rainstar fell back with her eyes closed.

Rainstar awoke surrounded by darkness and her body felt weightless; the faint glow of the stars was the only light source. She knew this feeling well, she was in StarClan and she had lost a life, "Why did I have to fight? I'm down to four lives now," she whispered to herself. "Is anyone there?"

"I am." A speckled brown she-cat emerged from the shadows with a smile on her face.

"Thrushstar!" Rainstar raced and buried her head in the previous LakeClan leader's fur, "Why must we only meet like this." she sighed.

Thrushstar's gaze was sympathetic, "I know I left too soon but I am truly at peace here, I do wish we could meet more often but even StarClan has its limits. Now what you did was quite foolish and unlike you."

Rainstar stared at her paws, "I know but what else was I supposed to do?"

Thrushstar contemplated over the question but gave no answer. "It is almost time for you to return to your clan mates and remember, you will need your extra lives soon enough."

Thrushstar started to fade away, "Thrushstar don't leave me again!" she wailed but she had already disappeared.

Rainstar's body jerked as she came around. The patrol was gathering around her with worried eyes. Rainstar tried to stand up but her legs were shaky and she stumbled.

Stoneheart put his tail tip on her shoulder, "Thank StarClan you're okay!" Nods of agreement spread across the other cats.

Rainstar glanced over at Birchstar who looked dazed but okay, Fireclaw and Shadowpaw had moved him further from were he fell.

Stormfeather noticed Rainstar staring, "He lost a life as well." she reported.

Rainstar nodded, "I think we should return to camp."

She turned to pad away but gave Birchstar one last glance, looking him straight in the eyes and sending him a mental message to never mess with her clan again.

The sun was high in the sky as the patrol returned. Gasps of horror escaped the cats in camp as they starred at the wounds on the warriors. Rainstar herself had blood dripping from her belly and a nasty cut on her face.

Sunflight was limping, where Fireclaw had pulled her down, Stormfeather had a nick ripped out of right ear and cuts on her paw, Stoneheart had two ripped claws and his eye was swollen shut but most surprising was Owlheart, the senor warrior was caked in blood, although it was mostly his enemies.

Rainstar tried to leap onto a stone pillar they called Leader's Rock but it was more of a clumsy spring as pain spread through her shoulder, "Cats older enough to swim gather under Leader's Rock for a clan meeting!"

She didn't have to wait long for to start, as every cat was wondering what had happened.

"I lead a patrol to the ForestClan border, ForestClan showed up and accused us of trespassing. Words were exchanged and Birchstar attacked, it was a fight between him and I but then both sides got involved,"

Sunflight starred at her paws not making eye contact.
"We managed to both cost each other a life," she paused, almost saying how many lives she had left. "Today will not be forgotten, I advise all patrols to stay away from the border and no cat goes out alone. All members of my patrol please go and see Ivytail, this meeting is over!"

She leap down and let what she had said sink in. Stoneheart walked over to her, "You need to see Ivytail as well."

Rainstar shook her head, "You go, I will see her after my clan mates are healed."

"Are you going to be okay he asked?"

She paused but nodded, "Only time will tell."

Satisfied with his answer, he turned and headed to the medicine den.

After what seemed like forever, Rainstar padded into Ivytail's den.

She smiled, "Finally over your 'I'm the leader in fine' phase I see."

Rainstar let out a mrrow of laughter, "I guess so."

She laid down while Ivytail inspected her wounds, "I had this dream you should know about, I think it has to do with the prophecy."

A/N: So how was it? Remember I am always looking to better my writing. The reason this chapter is early, is because I will be away for eight days without Internet, starting tomorrow. Next weeks chapter may be a day or two late and I apologize. Also I am still looking for opinions on the name change, although I am leading towards not changing it. See you guys next week :)
